Wonderful in every way! The farm is meticulous and beautiful. Nika (and all the family members we met) were wonderful hosts! We enjoyed actually walking through the property and selecting the fruits and vegetables (and eggs from the chickens) we used to cook a fabulous meal. So much fun!

This was a beautiful and taste bud fulfilling experience. The host and hostess were friendly, informative, and helpful (when we were struggling). We got to make our own bread, milk a goat, amongst other things. We had some good shots of brandy and a wonderful 5 course meal that was delicious. I highly recommend it.

Extra Special Experience

Tara_T, Apr 2026
The traditional cooking class in the Dubrovnik countryside was nothing short of extraordinary. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after the last bite—rich in flavor, history, and genuine human connection. Set on a family‑owned farm tucked into the peaceful hills outside the city, the class offers a slower, more intentional pace that feels like a gift in our busy, hustle‑driven world. Preparing a meal together—using simple, wholesome ingredients and stories shared across the table—felt grounding and deeply meaningful. It was a reminder of how nourishing it can be to slow down and truly connect with others. We learned how traditional Dalmatian dishes come to life using fresh, local ingredients, and the joy of tasting the results of our own work was unforgettable. A visit to a neighboring farm added an extra layer of authenticity, where we sampled fresh goat and cow’s cheese that was absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for something truly special—an experience that feeds both your body and your soul—this is it. I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone wanting a deeper connection to Dubrovnik’s culture, history, and warm rural hospitality. It’s a rare and beautiful glimpse into a way of life that deserves to be savored.

A Must Do When In Dubrovnik

Stephen_C, Nov 2025
This was not only an amazing cooking class and overall culinary experience, but one of the highlights of our many travels around the world. We were picked up at our hotel by Oliver, owner of the tour company who arranged this special event. We traveled to Kameni Dvori for our cooking class. The family has lived for five centuries on this same land, purchasing ownership four generations ago. On their 40 acres, they have vineyards; an orchard with olive trees; peaches, apples, persimmon, oranges, lemons, tangerines, and pomegranate trees; a flock of 30 laying hens; a large vegetable garden and many herbs. They make four kinds of wine, olive oil, pickled veggies, marmalade, liqueurs, prosciutto and sausages. Everything is organic and this 14-person multigenerational household lives together in a stone house that is over 500 years old (yes, with upgrades and additions). All members of the family work this farm and business. When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink of chocolate liqueur (carob bean) and carob date truffles. We picked produce from the garden to use for dinner dishes. We gathered the eggs - white and brown - and fed the hens. Ivo, our host, explained how they make their wines as we sampled white and red wines. Ivo sliced prosciutto for us to sample with two of their homemade cheeses, some sausage, olive tapenade, and olive oil, on homemade bread we made. We also made pasta in a shape that the grandmother has perfected. We also made chicken soup with veggies and semolina dumplings. The salad was fresh from the garden, served as a side with a traditional Croatian chicken stew with pasta. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this tour. This capped off a great stay in Croatia!

Not a Good Cooking Class

Nicole_M, Sep 2025
I have taken many cooking classes across Italy and Greece. This was my least favorite. This 4 hour experience was mostly waking around their home garden, hearing about their family history and sitting at the table chatting with other guests. Very little cooking took place other than 5 min of chopping a couple vegetables, putting 2 pieces of pork on a skewer and 5 min of assembling some quick bread. Very little technique or cooking instructions. In fact, no recipes were even given upon leaving. I had to e-mail for them after we left and was given only half the foods we actually made and some didn't have measurements. Not organized well at all. The foods we made were also very basic. I don't recommend this experience if you are looking for a cooking class. The family is very nice but the experience is definitely not worth the $465 we paid for 2 people.

Croatian family home cooking

Tamara_M, Sep 2025
Its family oriented and homey. Nicola welcomed us with open arms and was full of knowledge, patience and kindness.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Dear Tamara, thank you so much for your kind words. The family is always delighted when guests feel the warmth of their home, as that is exactly what they hope to share. Nikolina will be touched to hear your compliments about his knowledge, patience, and kindness. The heart of this countryside experience is not just the cooking, but feeling part of a welcoming home — and it’s wonderful to know that came through for you. All the best, Ana T.

Loved this experience.

Iris_L, Sep 2025
We had a wonderful time with Nicola at her family’s house and farm learning and cooking together. She was warmly welcomed us in to her families home which has been in her husband’s family for generations. We picked vegetables and cooked an authentic Dalmatian meal. This experience was a highlight of our trip.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Dear Iris, thank you so much for your kind words. Nikolina and the family will be delighted to hear that your time at their home and farm was a highlight of your trip. Opening the doors to a house that has been in the family for generations and sharing the garden, traditions and authentic Dalmatian cooking is always a joy — and it’s wonderful to know it felt so special for you too. All the best, Ana T.

Treasured this experience

Christine_K, Aug 2025
One of our treasured experiences in Croatia. We were impressed with the sophistication of this beautiful family business- it was so much fun cooking a meal from scratch completely from their farm. We also loved their liqueurs and wine served! My daughter and I consider this one of our best experiences, and of course we loved milking a goat and seeing the bunnies next door! Their home and service were a beautiful part of the experience and we could tell they cared deeply.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Dear Christine, thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful review! We’re thrilled to hear that the cooking class was one of your most treasured experiences in Croatia. It’s wonderful that you enjoyed preparing a meal from scratch with fresh ingredients from the farm, tasting the homemade liqueurs and wine, and of course the special moments with the animals. Knowing that you and your daughter felt the care and warmth behind the experience means so much. We’d be delighted to welcome you again if you ever return to Dubrovnik. All the best, Ana T.

Best meal in Croatia!

Melanie_B, Aug 2025
A MUST go experience. The owner/host greeted us on the bridge to her house with such amazing hospitality and it didn’t end until she hugged us goodbye. We cooked with 6 other people, from two different lovely families, which only increased our enjoyment of this wonderful evening. The food was absolutely delicious. It was so much fun picking the vegetables in her garden and meeting all of her animals on her farm. Loved learning the history of her family and the region and even seeing how her husband cooked the delicious meat in the open fire “under the pot”. The sweet ending of desserts, some that we made, really ended the experience on a high note. Don’t question going, book once you booked your trip to Croatia. And, she even accommodated my need as a pescatarian and had a special fish dish for me!

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Dear Melanie, thank you so much for this amazing review! We’re thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the cooking class, from picking fresh vegetables and meeting the animals to learning about local traditions and cooking together over the fire. It’s wonderful that you connected with the other guests and that the special touches, like preparing a pescatarian dish, made the evening even more memorable. We’re so happy the whole experience left such a strong impression, and we would love to welcome you again if you ever return to Dubrovnik. Kind regards, Ana T.

Absolutely perfect!

Michael_B, Aug 2025
This experience could not have been any better! Started off with great communication regarding our pickup (we hate not to be clear on pickup when unfamiliar with an area). Then once we arrived at the family farm we were transported back in history! The family could not have been more gracious. We really got an in depth look into how they have lived for so many generations on this farm. Going out into their garden to pick fresh veggies and gather eggs for us to return into their kitchen to prepare a traditional, yummy meal was just the icing on the cake! We also enjoyed some of their homemade brandy and wine. We would highly recommend this experience!!

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Dear Michael, thank you for thesr lovely words! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed the traditional cooking class and the warm hospitality of our host family. It’s wonderful to know the garden-to-table experience, local flavors, and authentic atmosphere made your day so memorable. Thank you for sharing your kind words and for recommending this special experience. We hope to welcome you back to Dubrovnik again someday. Best regards, Ana T.

An unforgettable culinary experience

Nancy_A, Jul 2025
We took this cooking class during our trip to Croatia, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our entire vacation. Our host, was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about traditional Croatian cuisine. It was in a charming countryside home. The class included a walk through her garden, where we picked fresh herbs and vegetables. We then spent the afternoon preparing a full meal using those vegetables. We sat down to enjoy the meal with wine they made themselves. If you’re visiting Croatia and want a deeper connection to the culture through food, this experience is an absolute must.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Dear Nancy, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! We’re delighted to hear that the cooking class in the countryside became a memorable highlight of your trip. It’s lovely that you enjoyed the garden walk, preparing the meal, and sharing it with homemade wine, it’s exactly the kind of authentic connection to Croatian culture we love to offer. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you back to Croatia for more special moments in the future. Best regards, Ana T.

Charming visit with charming mountain farming family

Dr_S, Jul 2025
This is really much morethan just a' tour', it is a visit to the past and to modern Croatia. We were met with traditional snacks and her homemade rose wine. These tastings prompted us to buy more from her little gift shop which supports youth-charity in the town. Our host, Nicolina is a treasure. Her home in the mountains outside Dubrovnik is unbelievable in its charm, historicity and surroundings. Her English is very good, so her communication about her life and her family history in the Dubrovnik is remarkable. We learned all about her experiences during the Yugoslav Wars, , that took place primarily between 1991 and 2001 civil wars that broke up the former Yugoslavia. We saw family pictures and learned about the reconstruction of her family home after the devastation that war caused. We chatted, we prepared and cooked and were so sated by the end of lunch, we never bothered to eat again that day. At the start of our visit (better description than 'tour)' we met her husband working in the garden where we dug potatoes, picked eggplant, carrot, tomatoes, mint and basil and cucumbers for our meal which we prepared. Then we 'met' the animals of the farm, chickens, sheep. goats, pigs and the newly hatched ducklings. After that we met Evan, Nicola's oldest who helped in the kitchen and in the cooking/smoking building where he was cooking our lunch of salad, vegetables, and veal. Then we made traditional bread using ancient methods, no bowls, no bread machines, just our fingers, the bread boards, flour, sugar, yeast, salt and water from the family well. the dining patio overlook the mountains and valley of Nicolina's home and are a lovely, inviting setting to enjoy the workd of our hands. After we ate, Nicolina led us in making our desssert: cooking and ice cream. The point of this incredible opportunity is not food, although it is marvellous. The food is the setting for an unforgettable visit with a lovely local, welcoming family of Croatians who are welcoming and more than happy to share themselves and their lives with strangers who leave as friends.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Dear guest, thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful reflection on your visit with Nikolina and her family. We’re deeply touched to hear how meaningful and authentic your experience was, beyond just a tour, a true journey through history, family, and Croatian culture. Nikolina’s story and hospitality are indeed treasures, and it’s wonderful that you connected so personally with her and her family. From gathering fresh produce to baking traditional bread and sharing stories by the mountain views, it sounds like a day that will stay with you forever. We’re grateful you chose to share this special memory, and we hope to welcome you back to Croatia for more heartfelt experiences. Kind regards, Ana T.

A beautiful and fun countryside dinner

Olivia_G, Jun 2025
From the time Oliver picked us up until we were dropped off we were treated like family. Oliver made us feel welcomed and introduced us to the surrounding towns. When we arrived at the cooking class Nicola showed us around the tavern and cooking area. We were treated to an amazing cooking lesson and even better food and homemade wine. The countryside was beautiful and peaceful. A wonderful change of pace to the busy streets of Dubrovnik. This is a must do part of your trip.

Please go! Must go!

Brittany_J, Jun 2025
We are so glad we did this. The entire trip was amazing. They picked us up from our hotel. The other couples that were with us were fantastic. He food, venue, and atmosphere were amazing. Definitely would do it again and recommend to any of our friends going there.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Dear Brittany, thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the traditional cooking class in the countryside. It’s especially rewarding to know you’d recommend the experience and would gladly do it again, there’s no better compliment than that. We hope to welcome you or your friends back to Dubrovnik for another unforgettable visit! Kind regards, Ana

Taste bud heaven

Jack_R, Jun 2025
This was a beautiful and taste bud fulfilling experience. The host and hostess were friendly, informative, and helpful (when we were struggling). We got to make our own bread, milk a goat, amongst other things. We had some good shots of brandy and a wonderful 5 course meal that was delicious. I highly recommend it.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Dear Jack, Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the traditional cooking class! It means a lot to know the experience was not only delicious but also memorable in so many ways. Our hosts love welcoming guests into their countryside home and sharing the joys of simple, traditional living—goat milking and all! It’s great to hear their warmth and guidance made you feel comfortable (even during the trickier moments in the kitchen). From fresh-baked bread to homemade brandy and a full five-course feast, we’re thrilled it all left such a positive impression. Thank you for the kind recommendation, we’re truly grateful and would love to welcome you back anytime! Kind regards, Ana T.

More history lesson than cooking

Mendi_W, Jun 2025
This is more of a history class than a cooking class. The venue is beautiful, the family is delightful, and the food, wine, and olive oil were really good. However, I did not learn to cook anything that I don’t already make. We did not see the food being cooked, learn how to roll the cake, come away with any recipes for Croatian food, or see the main course being cooked. Despite prior notification of being a gluten-free participant, my experience was different than others as I did not get to make bread or a dessert that I could eat. I have participated in other cooking classes abroad where I was provided with gluten-free flour and was able to make and eat the same type of things as the other participants. We had delicious unique vegetable spreads as part of the starter. Learning to make those and leaving with the recipes would have elevated this experience.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Dear Mendi, thank you for sharing your honest feedback, it’s truly appreciated. While we’re glad you enjoyed the setting, the family, and the quality of the food, we’re sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations as a cooking class, especially regarding hands-on participation and dietary accommodations. We take your comments seriously and will be sharing them with our host family. Your insights about recipe sharing, gluten-free inclusion, and more visible cooking instruction are incredibly valuable, and we’ll be looking at ways to improve. Thank you again, we hope to welcome you back in the future for a more fulfilling experience. Kind regards, Ana T.

Wonderful experience....

Eric_M, Jun 2025
Wonderful experience. Host family was incredibly kind and gracious. Food was amazing and history lesson and conversations that accompanied it, even better. A really fun and must do experience while visiting Croatia.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Dear Eric, thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear you had such a wonderful experience and felt the warmth of our host family—that kindness and hospitality are at the heart of everything we do. It’s great to know the food hit the mark, and that the stories and conversations made the experience even more meaningful. Sharing a meal and a bit of history is such a special way to connect. We’d be thrilled to welcome you back anytime—until then, thank you for joining us and we wish you all the best on your travels! Kind regards, Ana T.

Authentic perfection.

sunnyinfla1, Jun 2025
This is not just a cooking class, it is meeting and becoming friends with an absolutely lovely family. This was a total treat from beginning to end. Would recommend this to anyone 100%. Our group was very hands on chopping and kneading dough etc. The food was authentic and delicious! I’d give this experience an 11/10. We also loved the pick up and drop off at our hotel.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Dear sunnyinfla1, thank you so much for this heartfelt review! It means the world to us to hear that the experience felt like more than just a cooking class—that’s exactly what we hope for. The family loves welcoming guests into their home and creating that warm, friendly atmosphere, and they’ll be so touched by your words. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the hands-on cooking, the authentic dishes, and even the little touches like hotel pickup and drop-off. An 11/10 truly puts a smile on our faces! We’d be overjoyed to welcome you back anytime. Until then, thank you again for being part of such a special day! All the best, Ana T.

Cooking with Nikolina is...

Ann_P, May 2025
Cooking with Nikolina is a must!!!! From the moment we arrived she greeted us with homemade good luck rose grappa and began taking us inside her life, farm, history and Croatian cooking. Our first course was platters of smoked meat (we saw the smoke house), the sausage and prosciutto the best I’ve had, served with her own red and white wine!!! We made 3 kinds of yeast breads, quiche and lentil soup and more wine. Visited the stone farm buildings and stabled horses, sheep, goats and a new born lamb. The final course was platters of a roast, potatoes and carrots, salads and more wine, followed by the cookies we made and also took home. I’d give it 10 stars if I could!! Just do it!!

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Dear Ann, thank you so much for this heartfelt and enthusiastic review! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that your experience with Nikolina and the Pick.Cook.Eat. cooking class was such a memorable one. From the warm welcome with homemade grappa to the hands-on cooking, farm visit, and shared meal, it sounds like you truly embraced every part of the day. Nikolina is passionate about sharing her family traditions, local ingredients, and authentic Croatian hospitality, and it’s wonderful to know that came through so clearly. Your kind words and glowing recommendation mean the world to us. We’d be honored to welcome you back anytime—there will always be more to cook, share, and celebrate together! Kind regards, Ana T.

Traditional, Hard Working Family that inspires fresh food and easy cooking techniques.

Peter_M, Nov 2024
My girlfriend and I were the last two people to have a cooking class within the season. What must have been a long season for them, this didn’t stop Nike from giving us her full attention, not only teaching us the way she makes bread, soup, stew and dessert, but also showing us the garden, collecting freshly laid eggs, and taking us down the road to milk goats. This also proved that everything we used really was grown or reared within a very small radius of the village, and sampling the food afterwards and experiencing true freshness backed this up. Having cooking experience already, nothing was overly advanced and at times it was perhaps simpler than I had anticipated. However, sampling the local food, seeing the home and the scenery, and understanding how one can be a lot more sustainable were the main highlights for us.

Great cooking class experience

Eric_R, Oct 2024
Overall this class was good. First, they offered us some snacks and grapa which was a nice start. Normally we would have went out and picked the veggies fresh from their garden but it was too wet unfortunately. We got to prep the veggies and potatoes for our meal later and then made two different breads. They showed us how they cook their pork and how they smoke their meats. They also showed us their animals including a donkey, goats, lambs, and chickens. We also got to make their signature cookies which were similar to funnel cakes in the US. We first ate a huge plate of different smoked meats and cheese which was so good! Then we ate lentil soup and our homemade bread. After that we had meat they had been cooking for hours and the potatoes we prepped which was followed by the homemade cookies. There was also essentially endless wine that they made in house. By the end, we were all ready for a nap after all the great food and wine.

Great day with Nikolina!!

Leta_F, Oct 2024
What a great tour!!! From the moment we arrived in the countryside, until we departed, Nikolina made us feel so welcome. She provided us with so much information from the gardens, through the house, lessons in history, current culture in the village, and then of course, all the cooking advice!! She did a great job of breaking up the day with a number of activities that kept us interested and busy! We enjoyed cleaning the vegetables, learning how to make lentil soup, kneading our own bread, tasting local grappa and wines, seeing how the meat and potatoes were prepared, making cookies, and most of all, eating such a delicious meal!!
