What To Expect

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum experience is in Dublin’s CHQ building, just a short walk from O’Connell Street or Trinity College.

Once you get to the building, check in with your voucher (either electronic or paper), and get your 'passport' for the upcoming journey. Visit each of the 20 galleries on a self-guided tour; the experience generally takes 1.5 hours, and you can enter any time during opening hours. Spend your time collecting stamps in your play passport—you can get one at each gallery. Staff located throughout the building can also answer questions.

As you go, learn the reasons why more than 10 million Irish people left the island, as well as the struggles and triumphs that came with leaving. Find out where they went and why, and discover stories about some of the 70 million people around the world who claim Irish ancestry today.

For an extra admission fee to the Irish Family Centre, find out about your own Irish heritage, ancestors, and unique family story. Here you can also schedule a consultation with a professional genealogist.

Very well organised exhibition. Perhaps almost too much information for one visit, especially if you have little knowledge of the subject.

Everyone should see

Shawn_M, Oct 2025
It was very interactive, can be overwhelming with the large topic the museum attempts to cover. I do like the layout & the passport stamps

Really worth a visit

Diane_K, Oct 2025
Lovely helpful staff Flexible- able to return the next day if you are unable to finish your tour the same day Able to go at your own pace if you don’t want to join the guided tour Interactive Informative Slightly distracting when there are two screens with audio at the same time

A must see for those who enjoy history…

They will tell you to expect to spend 1.5 hours (90min) to see the museum. We spent 3 hours. The museum is excellent. Really well done with interactive exhibits and a nice flow. The “Passport” you use to “travel” through the galleries is brilliant. Highly recommend as a Dublin must see.

Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin

Adrian_M, Oct 2025
I visited EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin on a bright morning and left inspired. Interactive exhibits, personal stories, and immersive galleries transported me across centuries of journeys, hardships, and triumphs. I smiled reading letters, hearing accents, and tracing family names on the digital walls. A friendly guide shared anecdotes that made history feel intimate and alive. The design, colourful, modern, and respectful, kept me engaged. Before leaving I bought a memento in the gift shop and paused to reflect in the café. It was a joyful, moving experience that celebrated resilience and connected me to global Irish stories.

Excellent Museum

EPIC Delivers a Memorable Experience of the Emerald Isle

AnnLouie_S, Aug 2025
Our visit to the EPIC Museum was truly enjoyable, largely due to its engaging and interactive presentation of Ireland’s history. The museum does a remarkable job of capturing the country’s journey from past to present, offering insights that are both educational and inspiring. The passport stamping activity added an extra layer of fun, especially for families visiting with children. I would highly recommend visiting EPIC—there is so much to discover and appreciate about the Emerald Isle in this thoughtfully designed and memorable experience.

Great museum experience highlighting Irish history, success and contributions through generations of hardship.

Would definitely visit again!

lori_h, Aug 2025
Self paced, lots of interactive bits, not crowded at all Sunday morning 🙌🏻. Comfortable, situated on historical building, great gift shop, covers so very many facets of Irish history, sport, music, inventions, politicians, impactful emigrants…..fascinating!

Touching and informative

Elaine_N, Aug 2025
Touching and informative. I was enthralled through the history and the stories of the immigrants through famous Irish people. But I "faded" and did not stay long through the sports section....but, then I care nothing for sports! That's just me! Overall, a true experience I will value and remember. Gave me much more understanding of what my Irish ancestors went through.

Make it a point to go!

Alan_H, Aug 2025
Excellent exhibit, very interactive and extremely informative. It makes points that one would not feel are intuitive to general knowledge. Definitely recommended.
