The group was too large. I didn’t choose to push to the front to hear what the guide was saying. We stayed far too long at seemingly lesser significant sites. A general walking tour of the city would have been better. Lots of requesting for a tip.

My family enjoyed this 2hr tour. The area was explained well by our guide Katia and we had the rest of the day to go on our own.

The tour was excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable.
However, there was confusion as this was also a “pay what you wish” tour for everyone else (we were the only Viator guests). We resolved this with the guide, although I don’t believe this was disclosed to us when we booked the tour and the first time this occurred for us on Viator. Net result is that we ended paying 3-4 times what everyone else paid for this tour……..
Viator should be more transparent about this arrangement so that customers can make a more informed decision.

Unlike some other small walking group leaders, this fellow was professional enough to have a yellow umbrella so he could be identified at the beginning when it's so difficult to find the group.
He was well informed and courteous.

Our tour guide was excellent and provided a thorough picture of Dresden’s history, particularly as it related to the Saxony region and WW2. The walk was lovely with many beautiful sites to see! 10/10 would do it again.

So Viator charges €25 for this ! And the tour guide says they make only €10 from this. So we get guilt tripped into tipping them! Viator doesn’t mention that this is a free walking tour. Kind of unfair that i paid €46 in total for this!
The tour is good and has the same limitations of those free walking tours. Too much info and less places covered. The icing on the cake is when the tour guide takes everything personally and argues with other guests sharing different opinions or views.

Our guide, Nicola, was amazing. We were entertained by his descriptions of historical events and people. He held our attention every minute and made us laugh frequently. We particularly liked his description of the Catholic church built in Dresden and the circumstances surrounding the build. He also described the February 1945 bombing so sensitively and accurately that he literally brought me to tears. I wasn’t keen on stopping in Dresden at all but with Nicola as our guide, I would have stayed longer.

Everything was great. Dominique was very knowledgeable and passionate. Excellent presentation of history and detailed tour. The only comment is to be a little more sensitive to the tourists in terms of politics. Comments about Gaza were very subjective and inappropriate.

Tour guide was great and interested in answering questions.
Found out from all other participants the it was a free walking tour - no need for Viator and it's fee.

The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The tour itself was interesting and informative - actually it’s not a huge distance to walk, as everything is quite close.
Stars are deducted from this review, though, as we were informed that the fee paid by us to Viator does not find its way to the tour operator provider - Walkative - (or only a very small amount does) so effectively, we paid twice for the tour, which apparently, can be accessed for free 😑 I’m not sure if this really is the case, but there’s quite a hard sell for tips before the tour stated and at the end. Perhaps having the situation clearly stated, e.g. what percentage commission or booking fee is charged to the operator, would be helpful to the customer.

The tour guide told us we should not book through aviator but work directly with a local agency since your company gets a % of the ticket price. Guide was good, but I did not appreciate that.
