Great trip today! Alex and his driver were very helpful and attentive. It's an early start but the 3.5 hour ride is split into 2 by a breakfast on the way and lunch on the way back. ATV's were awesome, some of the most spectacular views of the Red Valley. Then you take a 45 minute very strenuous hike (mainly due to altitude, not steepness). The air up there is thin and no matter what kind of shape you are in, you will feel it. I would highly recommend this to everyone in the Cusco area.

We were able to arrive before the crowds at rainbow mountain giving us perfect opportunity for pictures without 100s of people in the background. The ATV section was a blast. Breakfast & dinner were both delicious as well. Overall great experience

Had a great time. Wilson was very informative and kind. We had an amazing time doing the ATV and ended up doing the horse for the hike up to Rainbow mountain. Overall a great experience, definitely recommend it!

Overall, the tour was decent, but there were several areas where I feel improvements are needed.
First, I would recommend advising future participants to prepare for a significant amount of walking. It would also be helpful to clarify that lunch is buffet-style and held at the same location as breakfast; I personally was not a fan of the food. Additionally, guests should be reminded to bring a hat and gloves, as the weather is quite cold.
Regarding photos, while the guide took pictures of the participants on the ATVs and during the journey, these were never sent to us. This was very disappointing as I missed out on those memories, so I would suggest that others take their own photos just in case.
Lastly, I was unhappy with the transportation. The tour was advertised as including hotel pick-up and drop-off; however, we were dropped off at the Plaza de Armas instead of our hotel and had to find our own way back.

Hello, good afternoon.
I personally called you one day before the tour to provide all the necessary information about what to bring and to explain how the hike would be. Therefore, I respectfully do not agree with your comment.
We are a company committed to providing the best service, and we are proud to be one of the first groups to arrive at Rainbow Mountain, allowing our guests to enjoy the experience before it becomes crowded.
Thank you for your feedback. We truly appreciate it and will continue working to improve our service.

This experience was fantastic! It’s a bumpy ride along the way, but definitely worth it. Be prepared to get dirty! Samuel was amazing. He made the hike enjoyable and really fun!

An amazing experience from start to finish. The hotel pickup was exactly on time as promised, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the day. The ATV ride was fantastic—lots of fun, exciting, and a great way to enjoy the spectacular scenery. The breakfast and lunch provided were both very good and exceeded expectations. Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley are absolutely stunning, and this tour made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The tour is amazing, the best tour I’ve made in Peru. The guide is also amazing, always aware of how you are feeling and interested in your well-being. Definitely recommend!
Cherie_E, Jun 2026
This tour was a fun experience overall. Our guide was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable throughout the day.
The breakfast and lunch were decent, but if you have picky eaters, I would recommend bringing some snacks. The ATVs were easy to operate and worked well for the terrain. I would suggest drivers be at least 15 years old, as younger children may not be comfortable handling them. There are no guardrails, or safety measures along the road.
One thing to be aware of is that the ATV ride does not take you all the way to Rainbow Mountain. You go through Red Valley. There is still a significant hike after leaving the ATVs, so be prepared for that portion of the journey.
Also, the altitude is no joke. Take time to acclimate if possible, and consider bringing any recommended medications or using coca leaves to help with the effects.
Despite the challenges of the altitude, we had a great time and are glad we did it. The views are absolutely breathtaking and made the experience well worth it.

Waiting in morning over an hour since 4:10 am in cold no ride showed up and sent a message to operator and no response
Bad business

I was beyond nervous to do this tour because of the altitude. But José the tour guide was so accommodating and funny that all of that nervousness disappeared! The tour was very well organized, and Jose messaged us the day before with things to make sure we pack. I also needed to be dropped off directly at the airport and that was not a problem coordinating. Jose had a lot of personality and made everyone feel very welcome. He was also very aware of people in their different abilities, especially with the altitude. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone else seeking to explore rainbow Mountain in the red valley on ATVs! Also a major bonus was Jose took photos of us on the ATVs and sent them to us promptly after via WhatsApp. Fun surprise!

You leave pretty early by the time everyone was picked up was about 4.30am. There’s a stop for breakfast and then back to the same place for lunch later. The ATVs were a very enjoyable way of doing rainbow mountain, there is a small hike after that and you’re in the Red Valley. They also had the option to take a horse if you wanted. It’s just another small uphill walk until you’re on rainbow mountain where you have plenty of time to take pictures before coming back. It’s a long day getting back to Cusco about 4.30pm. The guide and driver we had were very enthusiastic and made the day really enjoyable!

It's a full day with unforgettable experiences!
Edu and his team were awesome. Edu was one of the friendliest and easy going guides who made the experience that more enjoyable!
UlpiaBotezatu, May 2026
The experience was great, the organization exceeded my expectations. The guide and the driver were both punctual, and attentive to our needs. The places we stopped for breakfast and diner were clean, tasty food, and also one could buy extra gloves/scarfs/sweaters if needed. Up on the mountain, there were fresh coca tea and alpaca meat to buy, although the altitude sickness impedes one to eat too much. Great views and all in one great experience!

I would not recommend booking the “ATVs in Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley” excursion with "Chaska Andina Travel", especially if you are expecting the experience advertised in the listing. Unfortunately, almost every major detail in the description was misleading or completely inaccurate.
First, the excursion advertises itself as a “small group” with a maximum of 12 people. That was absolutely not true. The group I was with had nearly 20 people packed into a van that was already uncomfortable and not temperature controlled. One of the reasons many travelers intentionally book small group tours is for a more intimate and organized experience, especially for solo travelers. Instead, the group barely interacted, and there was no effort from the guide to create a welcoming or engaging atmosphere.
To make matters worse the van arrived an hour late for pickup. These tours already begin extremely early around 4 AM, so being an hour late is completely unacceptable. A few minutes is understandable, but an entire hour was frustrating and inconsiderate.
The transportation itself was poorly managed. During the commute, we kept making random stops with little to no communication about what was happening. There was one understandable bathroom stop, but the others seemed unnecessary and only delayed an already long drive.
As for the guide, Alex initially seemed friendly, but throughout the tour he was barely present or helpful. Important instructions were not given while we were seated at breakfast/lunch and able to hear him. Instead, he waited until we were back inside the loud van where most people could barely understand anything he was saying.
During the hike, there was almost no organization. He allowed the group to completely separate without setting any time expectations or keeping people together. I watched multiple other tour groups remain organized and supported by their guides while ours felt chaotic and abandoned. At high altitude, communication and guidance are extremely important, especially for travelers who may need assistance.
The listing also states that oxygen is included, which is something many travelers rely on due to the altitude. However, oxygen was never provided. Considering how difficult breathing can become at Rainbow Mountain, this was a major issue. When people needed help or guidance, Alex was nowhere to be found.
Another major issue was the language barrier. Most of the workers and merchants in the mountains only spoke Spanish, and since there is little to no internet service in the area, translation apps were useless. This is exactly where having an attentive guide becomes important. People had basic questions about prices for drinks, food, horses, and even bathroom access, but Alex was rarely around or available when needed. Instead of helping bridge the communication gap for travelers, he was absent for most of the experience, which made an already physically demanding excursion even more frustrating and stressful.
The food for breakfast and lunch was average at best, and there were no drink options besides hot water.
Another issue was the entrance fee. The tour description states the entrance fee is 15 soles, yet most of us were charged 30 soles instead. Meanwhile, two passengers argued that the fee was already included in their booking and ended up not paying anything at all, which made the situation even more questionable and inconsistent.
Lastly, the booking clearly advertises hotel pickup and drop-off. While I was picked up from my hotel, once the tour ended, everyone was dropped off at Plaza de Armas. When asking the guide why we were not being returned to our hotels as promised in the description, he responded by saying, “We don’t do that, you come here,” referring to Plaza de Armas.
Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing and overwhelming. I booked this excursion as part of my birthday trip and honestly struggled to enjoy it because of how poorly organized and misleading the entire experience was.
Save yourself the stress and book with a more reputable company that actually delivers what they advertise and cares about the experience of their guests.

Alex was a great guide. My sister and I had a fantastic time! If you're not sure you can hike the whole way, definitely take the ATVs
Gary_C, Apr 2026
The tour was great , the ATV's were in great condition and evan though the weather was not the nicest we had a good time.
The only bad part was the drive there and back. The driver drove like a complete idiot, passing cars on blind corners, the guide was showing the driver videos on his phone while driving and there was not a single car we didn't overtake.
Food stop was limited on food and no drinks, They were extra.
The ATV's were fun, in very good condition and everyone was looked after. The ride through the red valley was amazing. The hike was not that far but a little hard due to altitude but that was expected.
This tour would have been 5 star if it was not for the dangerous driving that scared all on board and the guide being part of it.
Beatriz_G, Apr 2026
Our tour guide was super nice, and the ATVs are an unforgettable experience, the red valley for us it was even better then the rainbow mountain
Stephanie_S, Apr 2026
Company provided us with the details pretty late at night. Samuel pick us up even earlier than what’s written on the tour description. He didn’t even introduce himself so we thought he was just the driver and soon we will pick up our tour guide but that never happened. The van was outdated and uncomfortable. Samuel was very rude all the time. His instructions were not clear and when we request clarification he gave us an attitude and say we need to pay attention like if we were little kids. We arrived at the spot where we picked up the ATVs, it was pure chaos. Multiple companies at the same time and he was giving us hand signals and not a clear guide or plan of action. As we were closer to the points of interest he didn’t mention a word or do what a tour guide is supposed to do. Each group was by their own. Oxygen was never provided. So don’t rely on that. They DO NOT provide oxygen as advertised. At 16,000+ you will need it. Believe me. Once we were done we drove back to Cusco, none of us was dropped off at our hotels as advertised. So after a long day you still have to walk even more. The entrance for the rainbow and red valley was 45 soles per person, make sure you bring the exact change otherwise Samuel will self tip and won’t return the difference. After he drop us far from our hotel he didn’t even say goodbye. Samuel was rude and unprofessional. The views are amazing but I’m sure for the same price you can have a quality tour, not an unprofessional person driving you around.

Good morning, thank you very much for your comment. However, we do not share your opinion.
Our team carefully plans and organizes every detail of the tour one day in advance. We also contacted you beforehand to confirm the pickup time, which was scheduled for 4:10 a.m.
At the time of pickup, we had to wait approximately 20 minutes as you were not ready. Likewise, during the group briefing, you and your family did not arrive at the agreed time, which caused delays for the other passengers.
Throughout the trip, our team was attentive and provided assistance at all times, including offering horse services, which you declined.
It is important to mention that we operate with small groups to ensure a better experience, which allowed us to arrive early at the mountain. However, your behavior affected the group’s schedule and overall experience.
Thank you for your understanding.

Early morning, and long day…. But best way to experience rainbow mountain. ATVs were really fun and easy to ride. Plus saved a lot of energy riding them, and got to see the red valley. The tour guides were great! Great communication! Easy pick up and drop off! And food was better than expected. Only caveat is that there is still an hour hike, so if you are easily affected by high elevation or aren’t in the best shape, rainbow mountain in general is not for you

What an incredible experience! The Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain were beautiful, and the ATVs were such a fun way to explore the landscape! The altitude and weather were pretty intense but our guide (Max) was very attentive! The only downfall was the transport to and from Red Valley in the van. We had to sit right at the back as we were the last to be collected and even though we are both only 5’2 we were extremely cramped. The air-con was also blasting out dirt and petrol fumes onto us for the whole journey. The tour would massively benefit from reducing the group size so no one has to sit at the back or by upgrading the transport!

Wonderful sight. Not an easy adventure. I had altitude sickness, hard to climb but worth the view. Still not regretting. Peru is beautiful.
augustezilionyte, Apr 2026
Experience was very nice, except driving to the experience location felt uncomfortable and not very safe at times, but it is Peru driving style. Also had issue with helmets, after 3 switches still had to ride with way to big helmet. Other than that - experience itself was good, guide was checking on us constantly. It is not the easiest trip, altitude is really a thing to keep in mind if you are not used to it. Hike from ATV to rainbow mountain was in total more than 1 hour (slow climbing steep mountain, and it was covered in snow for us). Enjoyed breakfast and lunch - a lot of food options (buffet).

This tour made our trip unforgettable. It was organized and the scenery was breathtaking from beginning to end. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

The best experience ever, amazing tour guides and the most beutiful views in the whole country. Highly recommend

We had a great experience with this tour. Alex (our tour guide) was cordial and informative. We have young kids and were not able to make it to hiking portion of the trail due to high elevation. Overall a great experience, ATVing was awesome.
Travis_B, Jan 2026
We had a great time. We had Alex as our guide and he was very good. You can either ride 2 per ATV or singles. The Red Valley was beautiful and once you get to the top you have a hike to the Rainbow Mountain which is about an hour at a very slow pace. I’d recommend this to people who are not big hikers but want to go to see these two very cool places.

Great guide, decent meals, round trip transportation, cool ATVs, beautiful landscapes - you can’t ask for much more! The only challenge with our experience was the weather (certainly no one’s to blame here): it was very cold, windy, and hailed on our trek down the mountain/valley.
Bobby_T, Dec 2025
This was a great tour. From beginning to end, they took really good care of us. We received clear communication and instructions the night before (be sure to have whatsapp on your phone). The pick up, transportation, and drop off were smooth. Our guide, Rony, took great care of us, staying behind to give us oxygen when needed, and just overall showing caring and compassion for our well being. Even though we had been in Cusco for a couple of days, the elevation was REALLY challenging (Rainbow Mountain is almost 7000 feet higher than Cusco) so doing the climb from the ATV dropoff point to the top of Rainbow Mountain was slow (we had to stop every 20 steps or so to catch our breath), but Rony showed great patience.
The breakfast and lunch were appreciated but the food was just adequate.
Getting to Rainbow Mountain via the Red Valley and the ATVs is really the best way to do it. Red Valley is beautiful and the ATVs were fun. Many other tours to Rainbow Mountain take a different route and require much more walking.
It was a physically challenging day but definitely well worth it. When you get to the top, be sure to take pictures with the llamas! They are very cute.
Lastly, take some money (Soles) and maybe some toilet paper with you. Some places make you pay to use the toilet and toilet paper may not be provided. Also, you may want to buy some well deserved drinks and snacks at the top, so the money will come in handy. Finally, be sure to tip these guys. They work really hard for you. Enjoy!
Feifan_Z, Dec 2025
Overall really good. It's very early but good. ATV was great, food was just okay. Ideal for someone who doesn't want to spend over 2 hours on hiking, and red valley to me is a must see.
Terry_B, Dec 2025
It was a super fun experience! And our guide Alex was amazing!
The food was appreciated and a nice stop. Could be a little better, I would have paid for a nicer restaurant
