Great trip today! Alex and his driver were very helpful and attentive. It's an early start but the 3.5 hour ride is split into 2 by a breakfast on the way and lunch on the way back. ATV's were awesome, some of the most spectacular views of the Red Valley. Then you take a 45 minute very strenuous hike (mainly due to altitude, not steepness). The air up there is thin and no matter what kind of shape you are in, you will feel it. I would highly recommend this to everyone in the Cusco area.

Alex was a great guide. My sister and I had a fantastic time! If you're not sure you can hike the whole way, definitely take the ATVs
Gary_C, Apr 2026
The tour was great , the ATV's were in great condition and evan though the weather was not the nicest we had a good time.
The only bad part was the drive there and back. The driver drove like a complete idiot, passing cars on blind corners, the guide was showing the driver videos on his phone while driving and there was not a single car we didn't overtake.
Food stop was limited on food and no drinks, They were extra.
The ATV's were fun, in very good condition and everyone was looked after. The ride through the red valley was amazing. The hike was not that far but a little hard due to altitude but that was expected.
This tour would have been 5 star if it was not for the dangerous driving that scared all on board and the guide being part of it.

Our tour guide was super nice, and the ATVs are an unforgettable experience, the red valley for us it was even better then the rainbow mountain
Stephanie_S, Apr 2026
Company provided us with the details pretty late at night. Samuel pick us up even earlier than what’s written on the tour description. He didn’t even introduce himself so we thought he was just the driver and soon we will pick up our tour guide but that never happened. The van was outdated and uncomfortable. Samuel was very rude all the time. His instructions were not clear and when we request clarification he gave us an attitude and say we need to pay attention like if we were little kids. We arrived at the spot where we picked up the ATVs, it was pure chaos. Multiple companies at the same time and he was giving us hand signals and not a clear guide or plan of action. As we were closer to the points of interest he didn’t mention a word or do what a tour guide is supposed to do. Each group was by their own. Oxygen was never provided. So don’t rely on that. They DO NOT provide oxygen as advertised. At 16,000+ you will need it. Believe me. Once we were done we drove back to Cusco, none of us was dropped off at our hotels as advertised. So after a long day you still have to walk even more. The entrance for the rainbow and red valley was 45 soles per person, make sure you bring the exact change otherwise Samuel will self tip and won’t return the difference. After he drop us far from our hotel he didn’t even say goodbye. Samuel was rude and unprofessional. The views are amazing but I’m sure for the same price you can have a quality tour, not an unprofessional person driving you around.

Good morning, thank you very much for your comment. However, we do not share your opinion.
Our team carefully plans and organizes every detail of the tour one day in advance. We also contacted you beforehand to confirm the pickup time, which was scheduled for 4:10 a.m.
At the time of pickup, we had to wait approximately 20 minutes as you were not ready. Likewise, during the group briefing, you and your family did not arrive at the agreed time, which caused delays for the other passengers.
Throughout the trip, our team was attentive and provided assistance at all times, including offering horse services, which you declined.
It is important to mention that we operate with small groups to ensure a better experience, which allowed us to arrive early at the mountain. However, your behavior affected the group’s schedule and overall experience.
Thank you for your understanding.

Early morning, and long day…. But best way to experience rainbow mountain. ATVs were really fun and easy to ride. Plus saved a lot of energy riding them, and got to see the red valley. The tour guides were great! Great communication! Easy pick up and drop off! And food was better than expected. Only caveat is that there is still an hour hike, so if you are easily affected by high elevation or aren’t in the best shape, rainbow mountain in general is not for you

What an incredible experience! The Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain were beautiful, and the ATVs were such a fun way to explore the landscape! The altitude and weather were pretty intense but our guide (Max) was very attentive! The only downfall was the transport to and from Red Valley in the van. We had to sit right at the back as we were the last to be collected and even though we are both only 5’2 we were extremely cramped. The air-con was also blasting out dirt and petrol fumes onto us for the whole journey. The tour would massively benefit from reducing the group size so no one has to sit at the back or by upgrading the transport!

Wonderful sight. Not an easy adventure. I had altitude sickness, hard to climb but worth the view. Still not regretting. Peru is beautiful.
augustezilionyte, Apr 2026
Experience was very nice, except driving to the experience location felt uncomfortable and not very safe at times, but it is Peru driving style. Also had issue with helmets, after 3 switches still had to ride with way to big helmet. Other than that - experience itself was good, guide was checking on us constantly. It is not the easiest trip, altitude is really a thing to keep in mind if you are not used to it. Hike from ATV to rainbow mountain was in total more than 1 hour (slow climbing steep mountain, and it was covered in snow for us). Enjoyed breakfast and lunch - a lot of food options (buffet).

This tour made our trip unforgettable. It was organized and the scenery was breathtaking from beginning to end. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

The best experience ever, amazing tour guides and the most beutiful views in the whole country. Highly recommend

We had a great experience with this tour. Alex (our tour guide) was cordial and informative. We have young kids and were not able to make it to hiking portion of the trail due to high elevation. Overall a great experience, ATVing was awesome.
Travis_B, Jan 2026
We had a great time. We had Alex as our guide and he was very good. You can either ride 2 per ATV or singles. The Red Valley was beautiful and once you get to the top you have a hike to the Rainbow Mountain which is about an hour at a very slow pace. I’d recommend this to people who are not big hikers but want to go to see these two very cool places.

Great guide, decent meals, round trip transportation, cool ATVs, beautiful landscapes - you can’t ask for much more! The only challenge with our experience was the weather (certainly no one’s to blame here): it was very cold, windy, and hailed on our trek down the mountain/valley.
Bobby_T, Dec 2025
This was a great tour. From beginning to end, they took really good care of us. We received clear communication and instructions the night before (be sure to have whatsapp on your phone). The pick up, transportation, and drop off were smooth. Our guide, Rony, took great care of us, staying behind to give us oxygen when needed, and just overall showing caring and compassion for our well being. Even though we had been in Cusco for a couple of days, the elevation was REALLY challenging (Rainbow Mountain is almost 7000 feet higher than Cusco) so doing the climb from the ATV dropoff point to the top of Rainbow Mountain was slow (we had to stop every 20 steps or so to catch our breath), but Rony showed great patience.
The breakfast and lunch were appreciated but the food was just adequate.
Getting to Rainbow Mountain via the Red Valley and the ATVs is really the best way to do it. Red Valley is beautiful and the ATVs were fun. Many other tours to Rainbow Mountain take a different route and require much more walking.
It was a physically challenging day but definitely well worth it. When you get to the top, be sure to take pictures with the llamas! They are very cute.
Lastly, take some money (Soles) and maybe some toilet paper with you. Some places make you pay to use the toilet and toilet paper may not be provided. Also, you may want to buy some well deserved drinks and snacks at the top, so the money will come in handy. Finally, be sure to tip these guys. They work really hard for you. Enjoy!

Overall really good. It's very early but good. ATV was great, food was just okay. Ideal for someone who doesn't want to spend over 2 hours on hiking, and red valley to me is a must see.
Terry_B, Dec 2025
It was a super fun experience! And our guide Alex was amazing!
The food was appreciated and a nice stop. Could be a little better, I would have paid for a nicer restaurant
Adam_S, Nov 2025
Hard climb, great guide, drive to rainbow mountains made many people motion sick. ATV ride was fun, worth it when you get to the top.
Shakti_K, Oct 2025
Tour had pretty amazing views through Red Valley. The guide Max was phenomenal and showed us hidden gems and animals in the mountains
Seweryn_P, Sep 2025
Great experience - small group as promised. We stop by in local restaurant for breakfast and lunch for good peruvian food. Samuel was excellent guide - did not let anyone fall behind. ATVs through 'Red Valley' - excellent way to get to the Rainbow Mountain - spectacular scenery. Short hike up the mountain - manageable, with enough time given for exploring and pictures. Weather - unpredictable - as we encounter snow in the top of the mountain - but this was just part of adventure. Highly recommend it to everyone

Epic ATV Adventure to Red Valley & Rainbow Mountain – A Must-Do Experience!
This ATV tour to Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain was hands-down one of the most thrilling and unforgettable experiences of our entire trip!
From start to finish, the tour was perfectly organized, with a fantastic guide who made sure everyone felt safe, confident, and excited for the adventure ahead. Riding ATVs through the stunning high-altitude landscapes was an absolute adrenaline rush — the perfect way to explore the rugged beauty of the Andes.
The Red Valley was surreal — dramatic, otherworldly terrain with deep red rock formations that felt like riding through another planet. And the journey there was half the fun — wide open paths, incredible views, and a true sense of freedom.
The highlight, of course, was Rainbow Mountain. Arriving by ATV meant we beat the big crowds and got to enjoy the colorful peaks in relative peace. The short hike to the viewpoint was well worth it — the colors were even more vivid than expected, and the scenery around us was absolutely jaw-dropping.
Our guide was brilliant — friendly, informative, and clearly passionate about the landscape and culture. They shared great local insights, helped with photos, and paced the trip perfectly to balance excitement and acclimatization to the altitude.
If you’re looking for a more exciting, less crowded way to see these iconic natural wonders, this ATV tour is the way to go. It’s adventurous, scenic, and incredibly rewarding.

Rainbow Mountain is amazing. We had a few issues with this tour, however. Our guide, Alex, only spoke Spanish during the hours and hours on the van ride. He spoke English, just chose not to, so we missed learning about everything. There was no stop at "Checacupe where we will have our first visit that our guide will explain to the colonial bridge and the Inca bridge, which is located 3450 meters above sea level." The food at the restaurant (same place for both breakfast and lunch) was the worst food we had on our 10 day vacation. At the ATV camp, we expected two ATVs. Alex completely embarrassed me by demanding to know how much I had paid. There was no cell service, so I couldn't show my receipt. The price is 170 soles each for your own ATV, did you pay 170 soles?! He demanded that three times. I paid 180 American dollars for two, I replied (that's 641 soles). It was embarrassing, but I didn't give in, so he begrudgingly gave us two ATVs and dismissively said he would check with his office later. I promised him I was good for it. On the hike to Rainbow Mountain, Alex was great. He went up and down the trail, checking on each member of the group to make sure no one was getting sick and helped get a burro ride for one sick person. After the hike, back down at the buffet restaurant (were those chicken necks or chicken hearts?), I got a signal and called Alex over to show him my receipt. Now at the end of the tour, just before we got back on the van to return to Cusco, he asked my son and I if we wanted to know about Rainbow Mountain and why it has so many colors. It seemed he was only responding to my comment that he hadn't given the tour in English, as promised, and was trying to save the review. WOULD APPRECIATE A PARTIAL REFUND, since the first stop was skipped. Can't figure out how to make that request from Viator.

It is a wonderful experience driving thourght the Red Valley is so beautiful, but when you are ready to walk up to the Raimbow mountain take your time!
pranati_p, May 2025
I think the tour guide was great and concerned about every passenger. He did as I requested of letting me be on the back of the ATV he was driving. Loved my time in Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain. The lunch was delicious too. However, after you come back, you’ll sleep the full way back to your hotel in Cusco.
I definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain.
Ruben_G, Dec 2024
Pickup was at 4:10am. At 4:20 I called them and the man said he will find out where’s the transportation. At 4:40 I called once again, because he didn’t get back to me, and he proceeded to say there not doing that tour that day. Very unprofessional not to communicate in advance, left outside waiting, and only knew the activity was canceled because I called several times.

Our guide Samuel was absolutely amazing! He made our day so memorable and fun. Breakfast and lunch were both wonderful, the ATVing was so much fun, and walking through red valley over to rainbow mountain was absolutely incredible. Our favorite day and tour!!
Lorene_H, Sep 2024
There were some issues but overall the red valley is a must see. With that said, be prepared that the tour guide does not know as many languages well as the ad states. But let me start with pickup. It was to be at 4:10 and he didn’t find us until about 4:25 and we had our hostel worker help. Then we picked up everyone else and that was fine.
Then it was about 2 hours to get to breakfast which in my opinion was great.
Then 1.5 hours later we get to the place to get our ATV.
But the trip up when he was sharing information - there would be 15 words in English and 485 words in Spanish. Then he would do the same again for his next point. There was no warning like ok to my English speaking guests…. He just began speaking another language. Additionally, a couple from Colombia (who saved us!!) said his Spanish was not very good either.
The biggest issue is there was no clear communication (in English - even when we asked) about where we were to go and when we were to return. There were 1000s of people at the rainbow mountain so not an easy place to find people. So we didn’t go to the very top because we weren’t sure what was over there nor if we would miss our return trip. So just bad communication.
It was very cold when we were there on Sept 1. Although they provided a stick, if you have walking sticks take them. Also for those of you from USA in lower elevation areas, rainbow mountain is at an elevation equivalent to Mt Everest base camp. We acclimated the day before but if you don’t feel great get oxygen. It works great.
The driver was good as that was rough terrain. But he speaks no English so be prepared as Google doesn’t work at that elevation!!!
Again I would recommend the red valley and the ATVs. But just know you will share. You don’t get one per person. But that was good because the passenger can take pictures. Also the hike from where you leave the ATV is a pretty intense hike to the rock door and over to rainbow mountain. It’s strenuous. But doable.
Again overall fun but the lack of communication (even about what we were going to see) was really lackluster.
Ed_Q, May 2024
This trip did not disappoint on scenery. We had an early start and the crew picked me up at my hotel at the scheduled time. The breakfast buffet was nothing special but at least we had something to eat to get our engines going. The fun really began once we arrived at the ATV location. They did a good job with explaining how to operate the ATV for those who had never ridden before and once everyone was comfortable, we were on our way. After passing thru the Red Valley we made it to Rainbow Mountain. It was a beautiful sight and the weather was perfect.
A word to the anyone taking this trip. It's a long and hard hike from the ATV stop to the top of the Rainbow Mountain lookout point. Not so much because of the terrain but because of the altitude. You're now at an altitude of 16,000+ feet and it can really take the wind out of you. So be sure you're ready for the exertion.
The guides were great and walked up the summit with us, They constantly checked on us to make sure that we were doing ok while on the trail and reminding us of the schedule that we were trying to keep to.
Heather_L, Apr 2024
This was an adventure I will never forget. The views were nothing I could have imagined and they took my breath away. The Red Valley is a must see place when visiting Rainbow Mountain.
The ATV ride up was so much fun. There were lamas everywhere and we were the only tour traveling on this rout. It felt like an untouched part of Peru and it was so special to experience. I do have to mention though they did not have enough ATV’s for everyone to ride single even though the Viator page made it sound like your gonna get your own. So that was very disappointing. Also, they didn’t provide helmets.
The hike up was a little treacherous with the snow and took around 1.5hrs rather then the listed 30min. The way back was not as bad since the snow had melted. Also, April was chilly (low 40’s F) and the workers said it would be 60’s so dress in layers even if they mention a higher temperature.
Overall, I really enjoyed this tour but wish I was informed better on what to expect. The safety and hospitality needs work but still a really fun experience.

Adventure on four wheels and terrestrial, which greatly praise the guide Felix who has always been close to us worrying about our well-being ... thank you very much for your attention and concern
