Overview
Join a half-day cooking class in Chiang Mai that offers hands-on instruction with lively commentary from your chef-instructor. Take a guided tour a local food market to see ingredients typically used in Thai cuisine, then return to the cooking school kitchen to learn to prepare six dishes. Our host and instructors for the cooking class, Oun and Gae, were wonderful instructors and host. Started class at market collecting our required ingredients and learning about Thai vegetables and spices. Once we had collected everything at the market we headed to our cooking location. From here we went through each of the dishes learning how to chop and combine our ingredients before cooking. Cooking was easy and fun and eating everything was even better.

We went to the market in chef’s very comfortable car to buy the ingredients for our dinner, the market was fascinating and we appreciated having time to wander around on our own for a bit. We then drove to his home where we met his lovely wife and used their outdoor kitchen. Chef has a beautiful command of English and is passionate, friendly, and a lot of fun! He and his intern did a great job preparing all the ingredients to facilitate an efficient cooking process. His directions were clear and helpful – we enjoyed our perfectly-portioned creations (not too much food to minimize waste and overstuffing!). It was especially nice to receive the recipes and descriptions of the ingredients so we can recreate our meals at home. We were also grateful Chef didn’t cancel as our group was particularly small. Our only complaint was the cleanliness of the bathrooms which could be improved upon – the cooking space was immaculate, however. Otherwise, it was a tasty fun evening – we loved it!

Do not eat before coming; you will cook one course at a time and then eat it after it’s made rather than cooking all the courses and then eating as one big meal
also you will be taking your shoes off to enter the home and kitchen so be prepared for that with socks etc
The food and experience were great! Will def make the food when I return!

Hi!! We are a family from Spain with 2 kids aged 10 and 11. It was just so so good!
Uan was really nice, patient and made great dishes that we ate one by one after cooking each plate.
Super recommendable!!
If you go in the morning make sure you don’t eat breakfast before…as first dish you start eating is by 10am. Last dish was sticky mango rice around 12.
He picked us in our hotel, took us to the market and then ready to start and amazing cooking Thai class.

This was probably the best thing we did while we were in Thailand! My husband and I had so much fun during this cooking class, and we learned so much! From going to the market and learning about the ingredients we were cooking with, to preparing five different dishes, this was such an amazing experience. The cooking class takes place at the instructor's home as opposed to a commercial cooking, which we loved! I also love how each person gets his or her own cooking station. There are so many cooking classes in Chiang Mai to choose from, so I definitely recommend this one. Also, make sure to come hungry!!

It was a wonderful experience from start to end. We learnt such a lot both in the market and at the cookery school. We even had a choice of what dish we wanted to cook and there were 5 courses! Plus a desert made for us of Sticky Rice and fresh mango.

We booked this last minute and we are so glad we did - probably the best thing we did in Chiang Mai! We ended up being the only two who had booked so we got a private cooking class and the hosts were so lovely. We went to a market to get some food and then went back to their homes and cooked about 5 dishes. We were so full by the end!! Really recommend.

What a great way to spend an evening! A wonderful selection of food to choose from and then cook a 5 course dinner. Oun was a great instructor and showed us a lot about the ingredients at the market. As we arrived at his home to prepare our food, we really enjoyed his good sense of humor and his passion for teaching about Thai cooking.
I would highly recommend this activity to anyone who wants to learn about Thai cooking and have some great fun doing so!

Just as the description says. Oun and Kate are making their dinner and you get to as well. Travel through the market as Oun describes the sights sounds and smells of the market while you collect your ingredients just like real Thai people. Then off to their house to make dinner (real food that you bought). Don’t worry about getting enough, you cook a course and then eat again and again and again. I’m glad there are so many dishes, now I can book again and try something else. Thank you Oun and Kate for such a memorable experience, a real Thai experience.

From the time My son and I was picked up from my hotel, I knew I was in for a great adventure! Our first stop was the market. Oun showed us fruits and vegetables we have never seen before. He gave us time to explore the market in our own. Big mistake because I could not resist the food that was also being cooked there lol. So once we reached the class, I was elated to began my first course meal. We were seated with water and fresh fruit and then the experience began. Although I didn’t eat 100% of all 5 courses I thoroughly enjoyed the bites I was able to take in. Oun jokingly said I can tell you didnt enjoy the mango and sticky rice, but truth is I was stuff with the delicious food I cooked and ate! I would do this experience again! It was fun and educational!

We had an amazing day at the cooking school led by Oun who was such a happy and supportive guy.
He gave us so much information at the market at the start of the trip. The cooking school was well set up with great facilities and the quality of ingredients was excellent.
Oun was not only very clear in his instructions he was also a lot of fun and his support team were also very helpful.
We had a fantastic half day and would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking about a Thai cooking lesson.

Eun was a great teacher, it was an amazing experience from the market to the actual cooking. Great choice of dishes to choose from and lots of information on how you can change the recipes depending on your preferences. We had such a great time! Everyone was super lovely. The food was delicious, and they were happy to cater it to our tastes as well. Want to change from pork to chicken and swap the capsicum for something else? No problems.
We also wanted to practise a bit if Thai and they were the most patient Thai teachers I've met yet! I would definitely recommend this cooking class 😁

This was a lovely cooking class experience! We really enjoyed our teacher and made SO many dishes. It was awesome to be able to each individually choose what we wanted to make. It allowed my husband and I to make different dishes and be able to share our creations. The class was so informative but also very easy, fun & fast paced. This is a must book if you are thinking of taking a cooking class in Chiang Mai!

Fantastic afternoon cooking with Oun. We were able to choose the dishes we wanted to make from the menu and Oun guided us with each step, taking lots of pictures and making it very fun. The group were lovely making the experience extra enjoyable.
