I have used Viator multiple times in different countries and have always had great experiences. This tour was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The “guide” who I had to ask to make sure he was the guide blatantly told me that this tour that I booked was not a guided tour and that he was “just a driver”.
I’m a history buff and love learning about different countries and their history/culture/unique geography. I learned NOTHING with this tour. I am extremely disappointed and discouraged from booking other tours with Viator because I’m afraid it’ll be another disappointing experience. I had so much planned for this trip and planned to use Viator for so many other tours. If you’re booking this trip, you’re better off getting a taxi and visiting the different sites on your own because it’ll be the same.

We enjoyed the site seeing. The private tour fit well with our schedule so we could utilize the time spent at sites to fit our preferences. Our driver, Shahad, was attentive and knowledgeable.

Driver late. Car dirty too small for four people and unsafe due to rear seatbelt not working. We had no choice but to start the trip as larger car not available. We felt unsafe. Driver/guide did not know the full destinations and length of trip - he didn’t know it was 7 hours. Convinced us to go to Valle theme park that was full of children! After that we requested he took us back to the hotel which he did. He drove too fast and taking on his phone with only one hand on the wheel.
He said that we would get a full refund.
We will make sure this is reported on Tripadvisor and is a serious impact on Viator’s reputation.

It was a whistle stop tour of many different sites & not really getting the opportunity to fully appreciate your surroundings. Mauritius is a beautiful luscious green country & a true beauty to behold.

This is a very good tour but it is a long day. There was only myself and my wife (I get very annoyed when marriage is excluded from available options as a successful long marriage is an achievement whereas couple partnerships do not rate as highly due to lack of commitment. Please take note Viator) Anyway, back to the tour. Our driver/guide Redesh was knowledgeable and a good driver. He also adapted the day to suit us. We saw a lot, had heaps of laughs and lunch was good without being a protracted time wasting affair. The tour was good value for money and we can thoroughly recommend it.

The best stops i this tour are the Ganga Talao Temple, the Chamarel Waterfall and the Chamarel seven-colored earth (including the large turtles). Most of the other stops are just viewing points with not very impressive views.

Nice tour! The local tour operator (Paradise in your palm tours) were great! Serviceminded, quick to respond, etc. Grand Bassin and the seven colored earth were the highlights along with the stunning nature everywhere! The lunch was nice and we even made time to visit the chamarel rhum house!

We had a fantastic guided day trip exploring the south of Mauritius with Zaheer. He was incredibly polite, courteous, and caring throughout the day, and his deep knowledge of the island made every stop so much more meaningful.
From the breathtaking waterfalls to the serene sacred lake and its beautiful temples, each site was fascinating — and Zaheer’s explanations really brought the history and culture to life. Even though it rained for part of the day, his positive attitude made sure the experience stayed enjoyable.
Lunch was another highlight — a delicious fish and aubergine curry that gave us a real taste of local Mauritian cuisine.
Overall, it was a memorable day, made special by a wonderful guide. Highly recommend this tour and Zaheer to anyone visiting Mauritius!

Perfect day! Our Driver Ben was very informative. Went to all the places on the liat and a few more lovely stops too! Fab lunch had and no pressure or rush at any of the stops. Charamel water falls. 7 coloured earth and tortoises were the highlights!

This experience was good, the private tours are great and the driver will quite often take you to other places in the way of interest. The waterfalls however spectacular the pictures show are good but not that good. The vegetation is so overgrown you only see about 50 metres not the last bit of it falling into the lake...bit underwhelming to be honest. Not sure what they can do about it

We did this tour with Pravesh of luxe holidays Mauritius. He arrived on time, pointed out interesting places on the route and allowed us plenty of time to take enough photos and absorb all of the placez we stayed at. We were back at our hotel on time and had a great day. Proved spoke perfect English, was warm friendly and informative. We would definitely recommend him to everyone.

A great day out seeing the sights of Mauritius. Our guide, Navin, was very friendly, polite and informative. Wow - what a picturesque, beautiful place. The lunch was very nice too. All in all, a very enjoyable day.

Nitesh (our driver) was friendly & rang to advise he would be 5 minutes late. However, he was definitely not a guide. At every attraction, except the statues at the temple, he told us he would wait in the car while we explored by ourselves.
This was particularly disappointing as we didn’t have the internet to read about what we were seeing either.
Wet weather did affect us, but we still visited all sites, which was good.
Lunch was good.
Vehicle was clean & comfortable. Water was provided.

Driver never picked us up from port terminal as he said he was. Gave specifically telling him where to meet us outside of the terminal where you pick up baggage. Never showed nor did he answer phone that another tour guide made to him, twice. We were to be picked up at 9 and we did make it off the ship by 7:45 and the elderly couple that we were traveling with were 7:15 in the blazing sun until 9:34 and never came. He texted at 10:34 saying he was there. So I don’t know where he was.

The entire experience should have been cancelled due to the weather conditions, the guide was amazing but 90 % of the tour was unseeable due to the rainy conditions.

Excellent tour. Our tour guide was super efficient and welcomed us ahead of disembarking from the ship. He was easily identified on the pier and the car was spotless. He was very informative and chatted in general about Mauritius life as well as important details about the sights. He let us do our own thing in our time at each of the stops and we had all the time we needed. The 7 colours park was not accessible due to road works (we were informed ahead of the trip) so we went to 23 colours instead. Entrance fee was included in the tour price but we decided to do the buggy ride at our own expense - well worth it. Lunch was a 3 course seafood meal at a lovely restaurant en route. Great intro to Mauritian food and the island.
