What are people saying about Durban

Once in a lifetime
A brilliant insight into a part of British history. Our tour guide had knowledge and background details that were fascinating about both of these famous and infamous battles. Amazing stories of heroism and giving an insight into Colonial mentality and also the Zulu world. I would encourage anyone interested in history to take this tour. It might be a long drive there and back but not to go then you would live with regret.

This was a 70th Birthday present holiday for my husband and this tour was the highlight of the holiday. What a thought provoking and poignant visit. You felt like you were walking on sacred ground. Our guide Zamani Shelembe a Zulu himself, gave us a warmth and depth knowledge of these incredible battles and we felt privileged to have such a friendly guide helping us to enjoy this tour to the best experience. Would definitely recommend both Zamani and this tour operator.

Seeing and getting to know the true colours of Durban
We really enjoyed the tour. It's easy to arrange and communicate via the booking platform to WhatsApp. Johnny is a lovely and knowledgeable person, who walked us through the local markets as well as having the local tasty food. We definitely highly recommend them to whoever coming to visit Durban.

Apartheid - a fresh view.
This provides multiple insights into the life & history of Durban.
The Apartheid Museum was confronting, but essential for an understanding of the history of South Africa. We had a Zulu man as our guide - his name translated to English means Wonderman - he was very passionate about life now in South Africa.

Exceptional experience
This was definitely one the best experiences I've had in my 2.5 months in South Africa. The views were absolutely spectacular and my guide and driver Wonder, was exceptional. It is a long drive but the company had a very well maintained, clean 4x4 and Wonder was very accommodating to multiple stops along the way for toilet and snack breaks.
Highly Recommend this trip with 1st Zulu Safaris

It will be a long and...
It will be a long and exhausting trip if you start and end in Durban. Great guides, scenery, adventure. A little bit too much admin to cross and come back to SA, after driving 2km in Lesotho. Village visit (with presentation about Lesotho), visit in the bar/restaurant were both well organized. Bring some little cash with you to help Lesotho people in the village. And a little bit more cash to buy blankets from them. Picnick on the way back was a special surprise. Thank you!

Exceptional Staff and hospitality!
we were running a bit late, the staff kindly contacted us and did their best to give us tickets as quick as possible to make sure the boat doesn't leave us. The ride was smooth, they kindly assisted us with taking pictures etc. I would definitely recommend it! and will 100% do it again.

A Must for Exploring the Culture and Nature of KZN.
The entire experience was exceptionally well coordinated and thoughtfully engaging from start to finish. It offered the perfect balance of cultural immersion and natural exploration, allowing us to truly appreciate the unique beauty and heritage of KwaZulu-Natal.
Every detail felt intentional — from the seamless organization of activities to the warm hospitality we received along the way.
What made this trip particularly special was the extra care the operators showed. Not only did they guide us through remarkable cultural sites and breathtaking landscapes, but they also went above and beyond by assisting with transportation arrangements. Their attention to safety and comfort gave us complete peace of mind, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the journey.
Overall, it was an unforgettable trip that left us with lasting memories and a much deeper appreciation for the people, history, and environment of KZN. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone seeking a meaningful and well-curated way to explore the region.

Nice pace, still covered and saw lots!
Freddie is a wonderful guide! Always smiling, extremely helpful and didn’t rush us throughout the tour. He was very candid with sharing tons of information which was very insightful. I’m planning on booking another tour and will specifically request for him!
