Amazing mezcal tasting experience with David! He educated and gave us a taste of the different types of agave, while tasting also their great tacos. We even got to make our own cocktail. Would recommend this place for an intimate and worthwhile experience if you're in Cabo! Thank you!

We had the best experience. The tasting was so very well done, and the cocktail making was such an amazing touch. It was so awesome to actually be behind the bar and make my own cocktail using fresh, authentic ingredients and real syrups. It felt so unique as we were the only ones there and had such a personalized touch. We learned so much about chocolate and sugars and many other things as well. Would highly recommend for someone who is interesting in learning more about mezcal, as well as authentic Mexican and Oaxaca culture.

David was great and he explained the differences between the agave plants and the effects it has on the mezcal. His English was a solid 7/10 and our Spanish was a 2/10 so there were times when we couldn't understand each other but we were able to work through the barriers. If you can, schedule your tour a little later and eat dinner there. The tacos were better than any I had in Cabo

we had a great time! David was a really great host! HE was very knowledgeable about the whole process about mezcal and shared some really great stories with us about it. After our "class" was done we hung out with David for a bit and continued to talk and share stories about our travels and lives. The Mezcal class was an amazing experience especially since out group was new to the idea of mezcal, this was a great intro to it. Overall, our group was incredible happy with our choice to try this out! You should try it too, you wont regret it!

A little bit of a disappointment

Booked it because it had great reviews but once we arrived, the bar was closed and the bar tenders tried to turn us away. After much negotiation, they called someone in the back and let us in. The guy who does the tastings hadn't come into work yet so we had to wait for him to come. The cocktail making part was a little weird because the guy didn't speak English too well and he asked if we wanted to make it of he wanted the bartender to make it. We said bartender but still we're brought to the bar back to make it ourselves. It was sort of a lame cocktail making set up: just adding pre portioned alcohol and liquor into a shaker and shaking it. The glass was already trimmed so we added ice and poured the drink in. Might be good if it's your absolute first time making a cocktail. We made the best of it but won't be recommending it or coming back!

David was our host and was very knowledgeable about the different types of mezcal we were tasting. He brought out a plate of cucumber, cocoa beans, dark chocolate, and cucumber to accompany the different mezcals. We also ordered a plate of tacos which was delicious!

A rare authentic experience in Cabo

In a city that is a gigantic tourist trap, this tasting stood out as a rare gem of authenticity. David was incredibly knowledgeable about Mezcal. His stock was full of bottles not commercially available (we checked) and we learned more about mezcal in our time there than in our decade of drinking it. If you’re the type of person who wants something more real than the cheap Vegas-like thrills in Cabo, I cannot recommend this high enough.

My group had David as our guide and he was informative and knew a lot about the mezcals and where it comes from. The drinks was paired with citrus, dark chocolate and dried crickets. If you never had Mezcal, its a very smoking alcoholic beverage. Lastly, the cocktail class was so much fun. The ingredients was made in-house, very fresh fruit (mango, passion fruit and guava) drinks mixed with mezcal of course. David was kind to make us his own cocktail which was delicious. After David's 18 years experience bartending, his talent really showed in that cocktail.

My wife and I are fond of mezcal. We were introduced to the tequila cousin at an artesanal drinks bar on a previous visit to México. Mezcal is not easily found in the States, not mentioning mezcal based cocktails, and we have been interested in learning more about it and how to prepare drinks. So when I saw the opportunity of spending some time learning about mezcal at the mezcaleria Vas que Vuelas I didn’t think twice to book a visit. The over two hours we spent with David will remain in our memory for years to come. He was accommodating enough to open the place exclusively for us on a Sunday afternoon. The setting was intimate, bohemian. We tasted multiple kinds of mezcal while David educated us on the different origins and characteristics. All this while snacking on truly authentic Mexican delicacies:bitter dark chocolate, sweet orange slices and roasted crickets! On those two hours and through countless tastings our conversations ranged from mezcal to history to politics. By the end we felt we’ve known each other for years. Great experience and highly recommended!

Roberto, David and the rest of the staff were great. It was a very informative class. We already drink mezcal but we can’t access the variety that’s available in Mexico. Also we had a great meal there we had soft shell crab tacos, guacamole, muscle tamale.

This was a nice and private activity inside a quaint mexician bar. The making of mezcal is so interesting and insightful. Then to add a special touch, a guest in our party was able to make a mezcal cocktail. Round of applause to the two gentlemen that taught the class!! We definitely enjoyed this class.

My friends and I really enjoyed this experience! It was easy-going but structured and well organized. We had very limited knowledge about Mezcal but thanks to David and Gabriel..we know exactly what to look for when consuming and purchasing this tasty beverage. Our group enjoyed a variety of different samples as well as different cocktails to expand our alcohol palate. David and Gabriel provided a lot of rich history and context to help us understand the journey and distillery process. I'm usually not a fan of tours/lectures but this was definitely worth it. The location was also super convenient and accessible since we were downtown. I highly recommend this tour for visitors and locals!
