Itinerary
Begin your private tour with hotel or port pickup in Bergen, and travel west via Highway 7, one of Norway’s scenic tourist roads, to Hardangerfjord.
On route, hear about the region’s history and nature from your driver-guide, and take in the mountain pastures, deep valleys and pretty villages.
Make photo stops at the waterfalls of Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen, and see Lake Skåsvatnet, known as the ‘Goldfish Lake’ for its colonies of goldfish. Learn how the fish were released here in 1914 and watch them in the waters.
Continue to Hardangerfjord and soak in the full scale of the mountain-framed inlet as you drive toward the upper end. Then, venture across the Hardangerfjord Bridge, one of the world’s longest suspension bridges, absorbing the incredible surrounding scenery.
On the other side, pass through the town of Eidfjord and stop in Øvre Eidfjord, a tiny village beautifully set beneath the Hardangervidda mountain plateau.
Visit the Hardangervidda Nature Centre (own expense), a cutting-edge museum dedicated to the region’s nature and wildlife. Explore the dioramas and interactive exhibits covering everything from glaciers to zoology, and watch the panoramic film on Hardangervidda and Hardangerfjord — an immersive journey through the area's waterfalls, canyons and glaciers.
Next up, head to a cozy restaurant specializing in authentic Norwegian cuisine. Enjoy lunch here (own expense) before continuing to Vøringfossen, Norway’s biggest waterfall. Enjoy the views of this precipitous fall, whose waters plunge 597 feet (182 meters) from the Hardangervidda plateau into a narrow valley.
Finally, take a different route back to Bergen, where your tour ends at the start point.

Our guide and driver Alex was very good driving us around and knowledgable. Had a lovely day seeing the waterfalls and catching the rainbows in the mists created at the waterfall. The journey was very pleasant

Wonderful day with Tim! We had a few obstacles develop such as a car crash on the road we needed to take but Tim navigated the obstacles smoothly and we were able to see all of the sites (and more). Learned so much about Bergen and the surrounding area.

This is a trip which is absolutely worth it. Our tour guide Lorenzo was just amazing. He was punctual, very informative and took care of us very well. He showed us all the places on the itinerary and gave us the history of all the towns/places we visited. Any queries we had, he was always there to help us.

This road trip was a nice complement to taking a typical fjord cruise, offering a different perspective on the fjords. One also gets to walk behind a roaring waterfall, and above one of Norway's largest waterfalls. A highlight of the visit to the nature center was the helicopter-filmed tour of the region. Our amicable guide, Lorenzo, was informative and interactive.

Viator needs to include itineraries with all thereTours, so that you do not book over lapping tours. Booked 3 tours, all of which overlaped. If we had the planned stops, we would have booked differently. Very disappointed that we wasted a day. Request a refund

This was a fantastic day trip. GG was our driver for the day. He kept us very informed about everything that we were seeing. Gave us plenty of time at each stopping point. Insured our safety. Was very concerned that he left with 4 and returned with 4. He also adjusted our schedule by picking us at the cruise port and dropping us off at our hotel. He went out of his way to make our day memorable

Igor and his partner Timo (I hope I got their names right) were very punctual when picking us up and they were very knowledgable and happy to share with us all about Bergen, Hardangerfjord and Norway in general. The van was quite spacious and comfortable and it was very easy to talk to them to adjust our trip to include or exclude itinerary. The weather was not the best that day, but we had fun listening to our guides about the beautiful nature. The prices may seem high, but it is worth it. Would recommend to other people (especially big families). Thank you for the trip.

This was a marvelous trip to marvelous scenic spots in Norway. The guide was super nice (we even used him to go to the airport). He was exactly on time. He had a good knowledge of what he was showing us. The electric car was quite comfortable and roomy.

We had a cold day, but fjord was beautiful. The guide was very knowledgeable with good English. We ate, salmon and moose burger. We had a good time.
