While it was a long day, it was well worth it and made you feel like you were in Switzerland. Our guide was amazing and the views of Matterhorn and then surrounding area was gorgeous.

The all day trip was worth every minute of it. The train rides brought us through the beautiful countryside and along rivers to the final climb to the Matterhorn. The views were breathtaking and we were able to get a number of fantastic photos.
The best part of the trip, however, was our guide, Feyssal. He was absolutely the best. He was knowledgeable, funny, professional and a wonderful representative for Viator.

The tour guide took us on a 4 hour train ride to Zermat and the Matterhorn. The scenery was fantastic but as we looked around the friendly guide explained what we were looking at as well as history of the area. He answered all our questions and was a pleasure to be with. Then the Matterhorn was fantastic!

I joined this tour and it exceeded my expectations. The riedes by train were smooth and punctual.Group size was perfect: small enough for friendly vibes.
Tourguide's enthusiasm made it enjoyable and it is a highly recommended tour for a alpine mountain sightseeing.

after our cruise we wanted to see something different than waterways and we saw this iconic Matterhorn.
It was really worth the money we spend and a full day of sights. Tour was well organized with all the train rides through the mountains and to the viewpoint. Had some time in Zermatt before returning to Basel. Our guide Emil did a great job and was very informative.

The scenery was beautiful even though we didn't see all of the mountain. However, we missed parts of the tour and found that we had more of an escort than a tour guide. There was no guidance on time and no information given by the tour guide.

This was so worth the time to go and see. The town was beautiful and the mountains were extraordinary. Michael our tour guide made it a very memorable experience. It was a long day but he gave us a lot of info and kept us busy. Michael made the tour so perfect.!! We had sunshine in Zermatt and a little snow at the top of mountain.

Our guide, Michael was terrific. We had a lovely day. The weather did choose to cooperate but it would have been great either way - good weather just made it spectacular. The restaurant he chose for lunch was exceptional and since it was a gorgeous day we got to enjoy a leisurely and delicious lunch out on the patio. We had a really nice walk through town. We then went up the Gornegrut cog railway to the top to see the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa and spent about 1.5 hours wandering around and enjoying the views at the top of the mountain. We were so lucky we had made no other plans and that Michael was our guide because evidently not everyone gets this much time and it would have been a travesty to have less time from our personal perspective. The only disappointment is that we were crammed in 2nd class on the trains to and from Zermatt as they were so crowded and it would have been much better at the price we paid (plus tips, etc.) if Viator had sprung for 1st class seats which weren't that much more expensive but were definitely less crowded. Especially, since you are paying for your own lunch. Assuming based on our research on train fares that most of the fee you pay goes to the tour guide and Viator.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would definitely give Michael 10. He is a knowledgeable and interesting guide who goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is the best ever! All facts about Basel, Zermatt, The Matterhorn and the train system are at the ready. Michael is a consummate professional!

Very glad we did this trip but wish we had been given more time in Zermatt itself. Guide kind of insisted we all eat lunch at this one place that was very nice but not what I wanted to do with what little time we had. The Matterhorn did not disappoint. Guide (Michael) was very knowledgeable and a sweet heart to carry my shopping bags.

The itinerary provided was not followed making it confusing and stressful. The guide was obviously given a different itinerary than us said there was no way it could be completed in the allotted time. He did end up showing us most of what we were expecting but again not as indicated. Would recommend doing this through another site or on your own because it is worth seeing but not through this company.

Our trip was easy and beautiful. Our tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. There was altercations with the tour guide and train conductor and it involved the police. It all worked out and we had a great time. But that is the reason for the three stars.

the conductor of the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn took a personal dispute with our tour guide as an opportunity to call in the police for a check of the tour guide data. This way is not tolerable for us as a tour operator and does not reflect Swiss hospitality.
As a tour operator, we will investigate this unconditional action by the employee with obvious naming of false facts and we demand a statement from the train company.
I would like to mention that the behavior of the conductor or the police was aimed at our tour guide and never to you as our guests.

The train ride from Basel was fun and the scenery fantastic. The Matterhorn was everything and more than I thought it would be. Our guide, Fehsal, was the best guide we have ever had. I would not hesitate doing this excursion again; it was the best ever.

Our guide was efficient and kind, but not very informative. There was no ongoing patter about history or interesting things we saw. He did point out some highlights, but was far from chatty as most guides we’ve had elsewhere.

Meeting of people is sometimes a bit tricky and sometimes it fits, or it doesn't. Sympathy is a big factor, guests' expectations and personal mood are sometimes difficult to find out. Amazing experience on the top of the world. Eric (the Guide) did a fantastic logistics job which meant that we could do a return trip from Basel to Zermatt and spend quality time at the viewing point - all in the same day. The return journey went like clockwork.

We had such a wonderful time on our full day in Zermatt & the Matterhorn area! As an added bonus, there was a fun group of Swiss singers with their accordion on the train ride, and we got a authentic concert! Genie, our guide, was friendly & fun with lots of interesting information. She knew her stuff! I would recommend this tour - well worth the time & money!
