Extensive and in-depth tour of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. Patrick, our tour guide, provided interesting information about how Barcelona became a major port city. LOTS of walking, but worth it.

This was a great tour if you want to get an up close and personal view of Barcelona’s old city. Patrick Taggart was a great guide as he had institutional knowledge of the Gothic Quarter and surrounding areas. He was personable and very knowledgeable.

I believe this is the most incredible structure of its time that I have ever seen. Very good overall tour of the Basilica with general insights around the symbolism, history, architecture and Gaudi. It is 60-90 minutes on-site. Plan on staying longer after the tour to visit the museum on-site which is worth your time.

I highly recommend seeing the Gothic Quater of Barcelona with Patrick. His body of knowledge is wide and deep and his delivery is engaging and humorous. I could have listened to him for hours!

Our flight was delayed and we were unable to attend the tour. However, our friends were able to go without us. They said the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. But they said he was a little hard to follow because he was talking about things and places that did not exist. Plus, he seemed to talk about random topics as they popped into his head versus putting together an organized and well thought out tour. While the guide was as nice, I wouldn’t recommend this tour.

Patrick is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable with a deep knowledge of history from roman times to now and does a great job of showing the interesting sights in the gothic quarter while weaving in the significance of the different eras, including today. Both myself and my 14 year old loved it.

The walking tour with Patrick was great as an introduction to the city shortly after our arrival. My husband and I have never been to Barcelona. Patrick was informative and helpful. Provided us with tips and tricks we needed to know to enjoy the remainder of our stay. Taking the private tour with Patrick was definitely worth it.

If you're interested in the history of Barcelona and how that greatly influenced and shaped current day Barcelona, then this tour is for you. And if you would like to hear the background, in other words the "rest of the story", then one would need a person to guide them that has that historical context, a grasp on the difference between folklore and fact, with the ability to express it in easy to understand English, than Patrick, our tour guide, is a must. A gifted conversationalist that encourages questions who was able to answer all of ours. One of the better tours we've ever taken and a large part of that assessment was due to Patrick's sageness and adroit presentation.

Make sure you know the duration of the tour as it is confusing in the Viator description. The guide had plenty of material for 2 1/2 hours, but we only had 1 3/4 hours of time.
