Amazing Food and History Tour

What an amazing authentic experience. The guide was so knowledgeable and gave us not only a food tour but a history of Ethiopia as well. She answered all of our questions and we even got to try the raw meat. I would Reccomend this tour to anyone curious about Ethiopian cuisine and culture.

Great tour but more booze than food

This was a great food tour — I really wanted to try tire siga (raw meat), and this was one of the only food tours that offered that. The tire siga did not disappoint, and it was my favorite food that I ate all trip! The tibs we had at the butcher shop was also really good. That was the only restaurant we went to though, and the rest of the tour was more about drinks (the tella was really interesting). I wish we had gotten more food during the tour (from reading other reviews it seems everyone else got to go to several other spots that I wasn’t taken to), but I still really enjoyed it!

Great experience in Addis

We had a great food tour with Oli and would definitely recommend him if you want a real introduction to Ethiopian food and culture. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made everything feel easy and relaxed, even when we were trying things for the first time. We started with a traditional coffee ceremony and then tried a mix of local dishes, including beyaynetu, shekla tibs, and tire siga. Oli took us to places we never would have found on our own and explained what everything was and how to eat it. The experience felt authentic, not touristy, and we left very full and happy. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Addis.

Liyu food tour

I highly recommend this tour. I spoke to Yhun, and he was helpful and and informative. Olli was my guide and Awet was my driver, and they made the ride a lot of fun! And the food part was excellent, and also educational. Olli would explain the variations in the food, break down the names and share some history. Olli and Awet also answered my questions about Addis and gave me suggestions on must do activities. All in all, it was a great experience from start to finish.

Great tour with Yhun...

Great tour with Yhun Ejigu as my guide. I was late for my pick up time and he came to get me anyway. Had a great exchange over food, and after considering our conversation he adapted the tour on the fly for me and my last stop was a local brewery instead of a fruit shop. Smart choice. Ask for Yhun and take this tour (and go tot he brewery).
