The guide spoke English, but much too rapidly, with poor enunciation. We understood only about 1/3 of what she said. She also never counted the people in her tour group to make sure everyone kept up with her. That being said, the tour covered the historical areas reasonably well.
Response from Host, Oct 2026
Dear Becky,
We’re sorry to hear that you had difficulty following the guide’s explanations during the tour. During the high season, especially in one of Italy’s busiest tourist destinations, the large crowds and noise can unfortunately make it more difficult to hear and fully understand the commentary. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
Nevertheless, we’re glad to hear that you found the historical itinerary reasonably comprehensive, and we hope that, despite these difficulties, you were still able to enjoy the tour overall.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us

Our guide was so knowledgeable of the history of the Coliseum. We saw it in a new light. She was also very attentive to our limitations and helped us greatly.
Very poor presentation. Does not make it interesting or understandable. Heavy Italian accent hard to understand. Too soft spoken. Doesn’t stress the most relevant aspects or tie it all together.
Response from Host, Oct 2026
Dear Bruce,
We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Our guides are qualified and speak English very well. As native Italian speakers, they may naturally have an Italian accent.
We also understand that the crowds and noise around the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill can sometimes make it more difficult to hear and follow the guide clearly.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the pace and presentation of the tour. We will certainly take your comments into consideration, as feedback like yours helps us continuously improve our services. We hope you were still able to enjoy the history of these remarkable sites.
Best regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome
There was more walking and steps than I intended. It was a long tour and timed, without any bathroom breaks. So plan accordingly. It was a great experience, but it could be shortened to allow for more personal exploration.
Response from Host, Oct 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback. As the tour includes the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, a vast archaeological area, a considerable amount of walking and some stairs are naturally involved.
The tour provides a guided experience, and its duration is clearly indicated on the voucher at the time of booking.
We’re glad you still enjoyed the experience and hope you’ll always cherish your memories of the Colosseum!
Kind regards,

It was extremely hot the morning of our tour, but we learned so much. Our guide was amazing! She was pleasant, kind and very knowledgeable!
Kept calling asking me how long til I would get there which made me have to keep stopping and was part of why I was late. Refused to give me a refund nor show any compassion for the fact that I was trying not to get lost and kept calling after I said to stop as I was getting charged by my phone company.

We are sorry to hear about what happened and regret that you were unable to join the tour.
We understand that unexpected situations can occur, especially when navigating an unfamiliar place. However, we always recommend that our guests arrive at the meeting point a little in advance, as also clearly stated in the booking confirmation voucher. This allows enough time to locate the meeting point and be ready for departure.
We are sorry that you were unable to take part in the tour on this occasion. At the same time, as the tour is shared with other guests, we are required to depart at the scheduled time and unfortunately cannot delay the departure or offer a refund when a guest arrives after the scheduled departure time.
We regret that this situation affected your experience and appreciate your feedback.
Kind regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome
Beware the meeting place is not obvious and we could not locate it despite arriving at the Colosseum 10 minutes early. Local tourist maps do not indicate that via Tito is at a different level to the main road via cavour into the Colosseum and cannot be seen from that road.
Response from Host, May 2026
Dear James,
We are sorry you had difficulty locating the meeting point. Please note that the exact addresses of our meeting points are always clearly provided on our website, in the reservation confirmation email, and on the vouchers. Geolocation is also available. We recommend checking the best route to the meeting point in advance to avoid delays. Please be aware that our Colosseum tours run on a tight schedule, and late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

Emanuele was great. He kept track of all in our large grouping, while providing great information about the sites. Very knowledgeable.
Emmanuel was engaging, knowledgeable and answered all our questions. There is no doubt he is what being a guide is all about.
Great tour! Would recommend! Our tour guide was very informative and it was easy to follow and keep up!

Dear Michael,
Thanks so much for your kind words! 😊
We’re happy you enjoyed the tour and found it easy to follow along.
Thanks again for the recommendation — we hope to see you in Rome soon!

This was a good tour and our guide was well versed and informative. However, there was a lot of time spent on detail (sometimes repetitive) to the side and then "you have 5min to take you pictures over here, then we move". I am paraphrasing, but it would have been nice to have more time not just for a picture but to appreciate the grandeur and expanse of the arena, hills and forum. It's almost like every stop was dowgraded to a photo op, and a few minutes is not enough time to naviugate the throngs of tourists.
Response from Host, May 2026
Dear Anne,
Thank you for your letting us know that the tour was to your liking!
We also appreciate your feedback. Especially during busy periods, guides must maintain a fairly strict pace and follow a precise schedule because entry times to the Colosseum are strictly regulated and timed. For this reason, while guides are fully aware of the importance of giving guests time to enjoy the views and take photos, they also need to ensure the group moves efficiently through the site

Exactly as described- meetup point was very clear and directions easy to follow. Christina was an excellent guide and gave wonderful context for the colosseum tour and made it one of the highlights of our Italy trip. Ending the tour at Palatine Hill is perfect because then you are inside the area and able to explore as much as you want after. We stayed for a few hours after the tour ended. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Rome who wants to see these areas!
Francesca was very knowledgeable and responsive to the needs of our group. We got to see a lot of the coliseum and old Roman forum area and learned a lot about the history of the area. Great tour.
Our tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum was excellent from start to finish. Our guide, Moon, was punctual and organized, which made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. She was incredibly knowledgeable, bringing the history of these iconic sites to life with clear and engaging explanations. The hearing devices provided were especially helpful, allowing us to hear every detail even in crowded areas. It made a big difference in fully enjoying and understanding the tour. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Rome.
Great insight into the history of the ruins. Our guide explained things in an interesting way that condensed thanks if years of history into an easy to understand tour.

Not favorable. Customer relations was poor, and customer service was poor. Would not use or recommend this company.

Dear Paula,
Thank you for your feedback.
We appreciate your time in sharing it. We are sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify what happened on the day of the tour. Our team contacted you at around 14:20 to help you locate the meeting point, as you were unable to find it. As there was no WhatsApp available, we were limited in how we could share real-time directions, so we suggested a nearby bar as a reference point to assist you.
Unfortunately, you arrived at 14:42, after the group had already departed. Despite this delay, our staff still provided you with your Colosseum entrance tickets and explained in detail how to reach the site independently. Later, when you called again saying you were still unable to find the entrance, we also tried to connect you with another guide on location to further assist you.
We are sorry for any confusion or frustration, but please note that our team made every possible effort to support you before and after your arrival, including contacting you, guiding you step by step, and ensuring you still received access to the Colosseum.
Regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome
Tour was good, well organized, meeting point was easy to find, nice guide. Lots of walking and details given. Guide explained everything about history in Rome.
Get ready to be moved emotionally. There are very few places where you can share steps with ancient Emperors, Governors, people of all classes and Gladiators.
I had to remind myself that I was truly in the place I studied as a child.
Our guide FABIO was phenomenal! He was wonderful
Grey lines I love Rome was wonderful in making sure we found the location easily.
I have booked all my tours in Viator via Rakuten and highly recommend this one.
What a privilege to be in Italy and have such kind, informative and professional team!
The emotions were palpable. ♥️😞😃
We had a great tour of the Colosseum, forum and Palatine Hill. Laura, our guide was exceptional. Would highly recommend the tour and Laura.
Lots of walking- Dimitri was very knowledgeable, but he showed up late and not just a couple minutes, like 20 minutes-and we rushed to be on time.
Do not be late. They will not wait.
Assistant tour guide very rude. When we asked if we could catch up with the guide, the assistant said no way to contact him. We could have easily found him and joined up. Instead we lost $170 and no tour
Interesting and informative tour of the coliseum and Roman forum. Dimitri our guide was very knowledgeable and fun.
We had a great time exploring the colosseum and Roman Forum with Roxy! She provided a lot of insightful information and was always open to answering any questions! If you want to see these ancient sites, I recommend Roxy and this tour!
I did a tour with Alexandra, and there were only 10 of us. It was a mix of young and older people from all over the world. She was friendly, deeply knowledgeable (with postgraduate degrees in archaeology and art history!) She was enthusiastic and more than happy to share in-depth knowledge of Roman life, while also offering to take photos for us! She takes care of those with limited mobility in the group. She encouraged questions and took care to answer them, allowing everyone to have a better understanding. It was designed to be three hours, but she went above and beyond for those of us who were eager to keep exploring the area. Thank you Alex!
Do try to go to the bathroom before starting the tour. The whole area is full of tourists and toilet queues are long. The scheduled bathroom break was about 2.5 - 3 hours in.
The tour covers some the biggest sights - c
Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Forum. After the tour is finished you are free to continue wandering in the archaeological area (if you still have energy!). It will be well into lunchtime so you can grab a bite at the cafe inside the park, or bring a packed lunch. Once you leave the park you can’t return.
Our guide was informative and learned some new history on the tour. Only issue was we were getting a phone call from the tour operator 10 minutes before departure saying we were late and that everyone was waiting to depart. We still made it on time and people showed up after us. The tour itself was fine. Only critique is guide would walk ahead with a moderate size group and sometimes hard to follow if you were in the back. Overall worth it to see a historic site and skip the line
Lots of wonderful information amd stories were told. Well worth the time and tired feet. I especially loved the Palatin. Would use agai6!
It was a lot of walking but so informative and you got to see everything from all the different vantage points.
Emmanuel was very knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend this tour. You won’t be disappointed.
