App very difficult to use. The online chat was no help and they could not make a simple bookomg. Spent 30 mins on chat and finally gave up

Needed the iAmsterdam card’s access code.

doolie78, May 2026
Be sure to get the iAmsterdam code from Viator before trying to activate the ticket. Otherwise, you’ll have end up not being able to access it. Also, I could never figure out how to book a Heineken Experience through the I Amsterdam app.

Amsterdam City Card

Peter_T, Apr 2026
If you plan to travel and explore about the city using tram, train, or metro, it is worth the savings in your pocket. Free admission to wonderful museums- some you do have to book for free online prior to visiting, but we didn’t find this an issue. The only negative is retrieving the card- it’s very inconvenient to have to physically go to the I Am Amsterdam location in the train station to retrieve it. Online? No, they say you can download the app and then put down the eight digit cc number to have it online and on your phone. Every time I looked at my voucher, there was never an eight digit number. So there we went and the helpful employee there said that unfortunately many people who buy this card through a third-party, never get the numbers sent to them so that they can download it online So- my advice don’t buy from Viator or anyone else and purchase directly from the I Am Amsterdam store.

One Card for all...

Ramya_E, Apr 2026
One Card for all activities is very good. But the APP had an issue on the day we were supposed to go siteseeing. So we had to buy all the entry tickets individually that costed more.

GREAT

anevazinner, Nov 2019
made the visit so fun! NO LINES, NO HASSLE!! really very recommended.Worth the price and then some Ample choice of places to visit. Not enough time to do it all.

Amsterdam visit

Sally_G, Sep 2019
The city pass helped us to really enjoy our time in Amsterdam . We were able to easily and quickly visit the Van Gogh gallery and the Rijksmuseum bypassing all lengthy queues. We were able to enjoy hopping on and off trams and see the city from a wonderful canal boat trip. Altogether it was such good value for money.

So convenient

Denise P, Sep 2019
The i amsterdam card is a great idea, almost every major sight/attraction is included and it is so convenient to have it all prepaid. Great on the budget. It's a real plus that since your prepaid you don't have to stand in some of the lines.

I Amsterdam Card-City Pass

Jean_T, Sep 2019
We loved the I amsterdam card, it was easy to locate the building to pick up the card and be able to use the card for museums and transportation! No worries with cash just use the card.

very important tool in moving around Amsterdam

JOCELYN_D, Aug 2019
The city pass for Amsterdam was very convenient considering the fact that i stayed 7 days in Amsterdam. It gave me easy and hassle free commute in using busses, and trams. I bought the 2 day pass first, and when it expired, i bought another 4 day pass.

Voucher did not work

Paul_G, Aug 2019
When I presented my voucher at the Amsterdam store I was informed it was not a valid voucher. We had to purchase more cards at the store. This pre-purchase was worthless.

What's in your wallet?

Roger B, May 2019
Valuable card for most travel options and admissions. All their slots for the Van Gogh were filled, so we had to book that online and pay, but they gave us the option of canceling the card. We still got our money's worth over the 96 hours.

Be aware of the opening hours of the kiosk or shops, had to pay for train rides to go pick up the card because the airport kiosk was closed when flight arrived. Pay attention the list they provide as the attractions don't adverise. It is a good value but wish it included airport transfer.

JOEL K, Feb 2018
Just as in other major cities, the I Amsterdam Card offers convenience and savings. We utilized our cards for free admission to museums and on public transportation. The visitors' center where we picked up our cards is conveniently located opposite the central train station. However, I would suggest that in the information supplied when ordering the card on the internet, a notation of the working hours be made. Might I suggest as well that a card for a longer time span be offered perhaps up to one week.

A walkable city and with this card made entry into all attractions quick and easy. It also enabled you toc hose what attractions you wanted to see and in what order.

Very solid pass to have, Amsterdam...

David B, Jan 2018
Very solid pass to have, Amsterdam has it's big museums and attractions, and then it has a number of smaller ones. With the I Amsterdam Card you can get into most everything not the Anne Frank House, just check the list of attractions to see if it's right for you. We used it most all day for three days in a row, don't miss out on the church in the attic, the handbag museum, FOAM, and the costume museum, lots of these sites you might not visit if you didn't have the card, but they are well worth it and you can see several in a day.

Amsterdam is a wonderful city with so much to see and do that you can't do it justice in less than 4-5 days. A hop-on-hop off pass that gives you access to the tram and bus system is a must to get around the city. The Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank Huis, Rijks Museum and a canal tour are a must on any visit, but be prepared for long lines at the most of the popular venues.

Visited several museums - Handbags...

Pat H, Oct 2017
Visited several museums - Handbags and Purses, Rembrandt House, Rijksmuseum and Ann Franks House museum. The last museum wasn't my choice because of the awful circumstances that surrounded the writing of Ann's diary, but my companion was keen to go. Queues very long, and I would say just read her diary, it's really not necessary to visit to be able to imagine what the lives of those living there would have been like. Also I did not see any obvious information about how the money generated from the vast numbers who visit is put to good uses. Amsterdam is a terrific place to visit. Our hotel NH Hotel Krasapolsky in Dam Square, very central was quite beautiful and the staff friendly and very helpful. On our arrival we were upgraded, a bonus! Canal tour is a must for all visitors and if you have bought a City Pass this is one of the freebies. Beware though, not all the Museums are part of this scheme and we did not fully utilise our city pass and it would have been cheaper for us to just 'pay as we went'. Our break was just three days, 5 days would have been better, but at least the brevity of our recent visit gives good reason for a further visit. All the Dutch people we encountered were kind, helpful and fortunately for us monoglots spoke excellent English. It's a great city and I can't wait to revisit.

Great value and super convenient!!! If you love museums, the city pass is a must-but item.

Tracy_F, Oct 2017
More limited than I thought it would be and had some trouble obtaining it. Although I had my printed receipt and email reference, the folks at the Iam Amsterdam site in the airport were unable to get our order details, it was annoying and we had to stand around waiting for emails back and forth to finally get our cards. This process really needs to be improved.

A must purchase if you visit...

James_P, Sep 2017
A must purchase if you visit Amsterdam. Great for museums, so many to visit, canal rides, city transportation is a huge plus. Don't leave without this card. Makes life in the City easy to commerce, converse, and transverse. Don't leave home without it. Happy Trails!

A really good value and the fast pass admissions made it more than worth it.

Mark W, Sep 2017
Didn't use it because we were only there for three days and it is small enough that you can walk around and see all the sites in central Amsterdam. probably good for museums and other things but just ran out of time and just happy to walk around and see things.

steph.pierret, Aug 2017
This was perfect for us. We were planning on visiting quite a few museums in Amsterdam and this card was very helpful with either free or a considerable discount on tickets. We also went to the zoo. Beautiful zoo in a beautiful city. Other than a few issues with the tram where there was construction we were able to understand and negotiate the trams to provide transportation around the city. Additionally we took advantage of the canal cruise. We ended up taking one later in the day which actually was slightly longer than normal. The canal cruise added some history to the city that we did not get during the rest of our city tours. The Van Gogh museum was really great, but we would recommend that you arrive early as the wait can be longer later in the day. Also we would recommend the Rembrant house and the church in the attic as great attractions.
