Hop aboard your boat near Rijksmuseum or Amsterdam's Central Station and head out for a cruise of the Amsterdam canals. Sip on Heineken beer or wine and sample typical Dutch snacks as your captain leads you through the city’s famous canals.
Listen to commentary and improve your knowledge of the city as you pass by iconic monuments such as the Anne Frank House and the Jordaan neighborhood, and alongside the houseboat museum in the Prinsengracht, one of the city's three main canals. Continue past the cute shops at 9 Little Streets (Negen Straatjes) and busy Leiden Square and cruise past some of the city's more unusual attractions.
After your 1.5 hour tour, head back to your departure point with an increased knowledge of Amsterdam’s history and geography.

- Due a lot of traffic at the dock, I can't wait more than 5 minutes. Please make sure you are at the dock 10 minutes before departure.
- The tour is a historical canal cruise, it is not a booze cruise. So if you are looking for a bachelor party boat or any other booze cruise, this is not the cruise for you.
- Captain Jack is collaboration between friends. Captain Jack is not himself on the boat.
- Due Health regulations (regarding food) animals are not allowed (service animals excluded).
- A fairly big step needs to be taken to get in the boat. Of course we will assist you.
- Beware all my boats are open. So when it rains, you can get wet. But rebooking with rain is always possible
- I always try to give the best tour possible (5*). But in rare occasion things don't go as you and me would like. Please let me know asap. Either direct or send me an email of text. I will contact you.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 24 travelers

There are a variety of canal boat excursions but this one was great. It was an open boat but the weather cooperated. Plenty to eat and drink. Friendly and knowledgeable captain.

It rained 90% of the time but we had a great time. The crew provided blankets and u Bella’s but it just wasn’t enough. We were all soaked by the end but we had so much fun.

This was an excellent tour and we (my husband and I) really enjoyed ourselves. Our captain was Marcel and he spent 90 minutes with us on a chilly Saturday night in May. We had an opportunity to see a lot of sites during our time. I just want to say that I appreciated the snacks (cheese, mini stroop waffles) and beverages (both alcohol and not)...and the blankets. I wore a rain jacket and sweatshirt but underestimated how cold I would get even with my northern blood and it being in the upper 50's Fahrenheit. Would I recommend this tour? Yes. So why only 4 stars? I think the talk could have been better. As a total newcomer to Amsterdam, I only knew what I read on the internet and in history books. There were a few comments on what was coming up on the right or left side of the boat, but the longer we went on, the shorter the commentary became. I felt like more stories could be told (this happened here) from either a personal or historical perspective. I expected to be entertained more (the list of things we would drive by weren't even all expressly called out) and not just driven around which is what it felt like. There were two gentlemen on the boat who kind of kept the conversation going by asking a lot of questions.

Rain, hail, cold- but despite the weather our Captain for this cruise Harry made the trip worthwhile and fun. He was easy to understand, knowledgeable, and friendly.

My husband and I took the 90-minute canal cruise with Captain Jack, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Even though the weather was a bit cold with some drizzle, the cruise itself was absolutely awesome!
It was the perfect way to get a beautiful overview of Amsterdam and its wonderful canals. We learned so many neat little facts and stories about the city that we wouldn't have discovered on our own. To top it all off, the snacks and beverages provided on board were delicious and made the whole experience feel extra cozy and welcoming.
We highly recommend Captain Jack's cruise to anyone visiting Amsterdam—definitely a 5-star experience for us!

It was a gloomy, rainy , and cold day, but our group with Yankee was so fun! He gave us a bunch of information of the canal and Amsterdam. The Heineken was excellent too!!

Captain Jack’s canal tour definitely lived up to its billing. Our guide was knowledgeable and easygoing. We had 90 minutes of seeing the beauty of Amsterdam and hearing its history while enjoying drinks and light snacks. It worked out great for us that the cruise started and ended in front of the Rijksmuseum. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Tour itself was great. Captain and staff very welcoming and knowledgeable. They change from covered boats to open boats in April so it will be cold if the weather does not cooperate. We had a covered boat reservation but either missed or did not receive a notice that the tour would be in an open boat. They had blankets and umbrellas which were a big help. We had a good time:

This tour was a great way to spend an hour and a half on the water seeing the sights and learning about the history of Amsterdam. Jay was an excellent captain/guide. I would recommend this to any first time visitors to Amsterdam.

This tour was so much better than we were anticipating! Elyan was fabulous and well versed on the details of the canals and city since he is from Amsterdam. There was plenty to eat and drink even though we didn’t partake since we had dinner before boarding. Friends were with us who lived here and said they saw and heard a lot that they haven’t on previous tours. Highly recommend Captain Jacks for a canal tour!

We had a great time on our boat with Captain Tim. The boat was clean, comfortable, and punctual. Our captain was extremely knowledgeable in the history of the city and did a great job communicating everything we would want to know on the tour about all of the important, and not so important landmarks. The boat provided drinks (beer, wine, soda and water) and an assortment of snacks. It was unusually cold on our tour so blankets were provided. Well worth our time and it gave us a different view of the city other than the typical street walk view.

The ride was advertised as covered and heated, however we found that was not accurate. Captain Jack only has open air boats. And it rained! Still, our boat captain, Jeremy, was great!! Full of stories, information and history of the city.
