About 100 kilometers from Bucharest and 44 kilometers from Ploiesti, the Slanic salt mine is a recognized destination for balneal and touristic activities since 1853, when it was declared a tourist destination of national interest in Romania. Among the superlatives of the salt mine (especially the Union Mine), the most important tourist and health objective in the resort, there is a huge volume of excavated salt, about 2.9 million cubic meters, which led to the creation of cavities with gigantic volumes, respectively 14 trapezoidal rooms totaling about 80,000 square meters. The 14 underground rooms have an opening of 10 meters to the ceiling, 32 meters wide at the bottom, and the height is 54 meters. The depth of the salt mine is 208 meters. Worth Every Mile and Every Penny!

If you’re still wondering whether you should book this tour, just do it! I promise it will be worth every mile you travel and every penny you spend. Our driver and tour guide, Sebastian, was absolutely fantastic! Huge kudos to him for making this such a memorable experience. His attention to detail really stood out, from rotating the seats so everyone on the bus had a chance to sit in the front, to providing interesting and detailed explanations about every place we visited. Sebastian was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better. A great guide can make or break a tour, and Sebastian definitely made this one worth it. Highly recommended!

A wonderful experience

Our guide, Silvia, was amazing. Full of knowledge, full of passion for her country and well prepared. I would highly recommend this tour. I'm also glad that we did it towards the beginning of our holiday as it gave me a new perspective on the city and its architecture/people for the remainder of our trip. The tour was also great value and I didn't feel the 3 hours passing at all.

Long but highly enjoyable day. Make sure you do the Peles Castle tour, beautiful inside and out. Brasov was a lovely place to eat and wander around. Bran Castle,aka Draculas Castle, was great. Make sure to go to the garden to get great photos of it perched on the hill spooky👻🧛‍♂️! Vlad was a fantastic guide, funny, informative and very helpful. Went out of his way to arrange transport back to our Hotel, many thanks. Florien did a wonderful job driving. Highly recommend!!

I wish I could rate this higher than a 5-star!! We really enjoyed Bulgaria!! It was gorgeous! We had plenty of time for the fortress, time to eat, time to walk around Ruse as well as the other stops. It was a small tour (maybe 10-12 people). There were bathroom/snack/drink stops and nothing was rushed. 10/10 no real notes. If I could say anything it’d be that I wish the driver had talked a little bit louder to explain some of the things while in the van, but he was knowledgeable, gave plenty of time for everything and it was a truly enjoyable day!!!

Steffan was a great guide. He delivered commentary in English and Spanish and had the plan down to a science. We bought castle tickets for the timeslots mentioned in the details and everything worked perfectly. I felt sorry for those that did not buy tickets in advance because Peles was sold out.

Great intro to the city!

Had a wonderful tour with Bogdam. Come with an empty stomach because there was a lot of food - and beer! Easy meet-up location on the steps of the National Theater. Everyone on my tour was from the U.S. Bogdam’s English was fantastic. Ate different types of salami, eggplant dips, olives, cheeses, bread, mici with mustard, a pretzel, cherries, a fried donut speciality. Soft drinks were available for those who didn’t want to drink beer or wine. Tried the local plum brandy shot. Visited different neighborhoods and a large fresh marketplace. Had a wonderful time and would highly recommend!

A very memorable day trip

The whole day was truly fantastic. Booking through the Viator app was easy, we received whatsapp communication from our tour guide with pickup instructions within a few hours of booking (a last minute day before booking). We were picked up from our airbnb which was so helpful (at 6.30am). Our guide Angelica was fantastic - her knowledge and information of Romania was invaluable. She was so kind and helpful the whole day, making sure that everything ran smoothly for us. The bear sanctuary was incredible - you get to see these amazing animals up close, they do excellent work there, and it is difficult to leave without wanting to adopt a bear! Next onto Bran's castle - you do not need to bother with a guided tour when you have Angelica...she gives you all the history you need on the drive from the sanctuary to the castle. I suggest wandering round the castle without the tour at your own pace. You have plenty of time to walk round the market and get lunch after visiting the castle. The scenery on the drive is stunning, and it is a great way to get a feel of Romania, outside Bucharest. It was a long day, but a great day. Made all the more enjoyable by Angelica's guidance, her English is fantastic, and we learnt so much from her.
