Amazing day
My wife & I did this tour yesterday with George as our driver and guide. There were 5 of us on the tour so a more personal experience. The minivan we were in was very comfortable. George was an excellent driver and knowledgeable guide. We managed to see a total of 8 bears including a mama bear with 2 cubs. George always stopped when we saw them so we could take videos & pictures. A couple of bears were actually walking in the middle of the road as we approached & they came right up to us. We had plenty of stops along the way and take in the amazing views. The view from the top of the mountain at Balea lake to the Transfagarasan road below was a sight to behold. We had a really fantastic day and we were so glad we did this tour.

Ceausescuism close up and personal
My interest in Romania's political history was the main reason for visiting Bucharest, so I had already done my preparatory reading and YT-video watching. This guided tour added the understanding and the personal lived experiences on top of the facts. You really get impression of how the Romanians lived under Ceausescu's version of Communism by going to concrete locations where events happened or that represent characteristics of that political/economis/social system. The guide (political scientist Andrea) also successfully mixed high level ideological parts of the story & route with low level concrete aspects of communist life, and tragic elements with the more entertaining. In addition you also get insight into post-revolution Romania. All in all a very recommendable activity for visitors to Bucharest.

Bucharest walking history tour.
This is an excellent tour for first time visitors in Bucharest or if you have been here before but didn't get to do a city walking tour. Our guide was Ed and he really filled us in with fascinating history behind all the places we visited! Brought the fall of communism to life so much that we practically felt like we were there! Excellent value for the money.

Cavernous salt mine with stunning views
The driver is on a schedule so you must be on time meeting outside by the taxis on the boulevard by Hotel Bucharest. They stop 15 minutes on the way there and also on the return (2 hour drive each way). They only play a short 2 minute video so you need to read about the mine when you get there. Bring a jacket it’s about 50 degrees inside you will get cold. There is a gift shop, interesting salt sculptures, tools that they used in the mine, a cafe, large children’s play area, and some games like ping pong, pool to play. It takes about 10 minutes to drive you down into the mine which is quite spectacular to see and is very large. You can do the tour in under 90 minutes which leaves you time to get back to the van for the return. There is also a cafe outside if you need a place afterwards. Very worthwhile to see it.

Bucharest is a vibrant capital that boasts lively neighborhoods, grand architecture, and a strong connection to Romanian history and folklore. Bucharest day trips often take you beyond the city, with guided tours to landmarks such as Bran Castle—also known as Dracula’s Castle—and the medieval town of Brașov. Other options include food and wine tastings, pub crawls through the Old Town, or day hikes in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Considering the depth of culture and nature you’ll find in and outside of Bucharest, these tours are not to be missed.
