Poás volcano is a powerful symbol of the geothermal forces that formed Costa Rica. When the mist and clouds part you’ll see the sulfuric, bubbling, green rain fed lake at the bottom, surrounded by smoke and steam rising from fumaroles. Water from the lake is constantly seeping through cracks in the hot rock, evaporating and building pockets of steam. When the pressure in these pockets exceeds the weight of the water above, the steam breaks through in geysers that rocket up to 820 feet (250 meters) high. Don’t worry about getting a shower though, the crater is 1,050 feet (320 meters) deep. At almost a mile (1.6 km) across it’s also the largest active crater in the world. New safety features have been added to protect visitors in case of particularly heavy activity.

I had a wonderful day trip to Poás Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The itinerary was very well organized and perfectly paced, so we never felt rushed. Our guide, Raquelle, was amazing — very knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. We were a small group of only six people, which made the experience feel relaxed and personal. We were lucky to see both the volcano and the lagoon, although that depends on the weather. La Paz was also beautiful, with the animals and the waterfalls making it a great mix of nature, learning, and a bit of exercise before heading back. Highly recommended!

This was an amazing full day tour. The La Paz facility is an amazing place. My wife and I enjoyed the Wildlife Refuge at the facility and waterfalls were amazing and just stunning. The lunch at the La Paz resort restaurant was great. Our tour guide keep us, Harlem was awesome and very knowledgeable about La Paz. We arrived there safely and got back to our hotel safely. This is a tour everyone should take. You will enjoy it.

Pacos horses was an incredible experience! The guide was amazing and offered to take photos for everyone while we were riding which was great. The horses were absolutely beautiful and the views were also gorgeous! Towards the end , we stopped and they gave us some water and fresh pineapple and watermelon while having a view of the volcano! Definitely recommended this experience!

What an incredible family experience! Our kids absolutely loved the zip lining adventure, and we all had such a blast together. From start to finish, we felt completely safe and well taken care of. Allen and Mula were fantastic guides — fun, encouraging, and great with the kids. John, our photographer, was also incredibly attentive and captured so many special moments for our family. Day well spent

Filander was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and informative. He was very patient and eager to answer our questions. He told us about many hidden gems of costa rica and places to eat and see. It shows how passionate he is and how much he enjoys sharing his wisdom. I was picked up on time from my hotel around 6:15 am. We drove to the coffee plantation where he walked us through the farm. We had an excellent breakfast and then drove to poas volcano. It was foggy with no visibility when we reached. He told us to visit the lagoon since he knew it was clear and knew the crater would clear out by the time we returned. He was right on spot and we saw the gorgeous views with full visibility. We then drove to waterfall garden where we saw different wildlife. We finished off with the 5 stunning waterfalls before we started our drive back to our hotels. Filander explained us about different plants, flowers insects, animals. Overall he had an amazing knowledge about everything. He even provided great options of other tours that I could take and how to book them. Overall It was a great day. Absolutely worth doing for someone visiting Costa Rica.

Angel was AMAZING! Very entertaining, the food was delicioussssss, very interactive. The drinks were amazing. Spectacular, unforgettable, and beginner friendly!

Such a special experience on one of the best natural rafting rivers in the world. We had a good traditional breakfast with fruit and coffee, then we went to the river. As a first time rafter and solo female traveler, I was so intimidated at first, but we got the hang of it quickly and nobody fell in. I felt safe the whole time. If everyone follows instructions, you'll be good (Tip: if ya think you'll get away with just relaxing, think again!) We had an amazing guide, Carlos, who taught us well, kept us safe, and taught us a lot. We saw bird species and waterfalls. For lunch, we pulled over for sandwiches/wraps, on a kind indigenous person's land, very special. Pictures on the river are available for purchase and ours came out great! Due to the active tectonic faults, this river changes every few years, and is absolutely worth coming back to! This was an experience worth every penny and I will cherish it forever!

This trip was terrific. Our tour guide Marco went out of his way to ensure everyone had an informative and entertaining time. If you are crunched the time and you want to have a little bit of everything in one excursion, this is a really good excursion. I got to see an active volcano, waterfalls, and the coffee tour was actually surprisingly interesting. I didn’t know a lot of things and I’m taking all this knowledge back home to make better coffee. Our tour guide kept us safe. And I had to take beautiful videos of the waterfall. I really connected with nature. Thank you so much for a beautiful care.

A Perfect Day in Costa Rica

We could not have asked for a better tour! Adriana was kind, knowledgeable and fun to have along for the ride. This experience had everything we were looking for in our short visit, and more! The Zipline was a challenge (be prepared for an arm workout!), but the hot springs were sooo relaxing to follow up. I was a little bummed that rain and clouds obstructed our view of the volcano peak, but what can you do? I enjoyed the time in the van, being able to look out and enjoy the eye level view. They kept us well fed throughout the day, but my favorite thing to try was the cas juice at the waterfall lookout.
