In the Jordaan, the city's food traditions survive because someone's grandmother, uncle, or neighbor decided they were worth keeping alive. On this small-group walking tour, you'll meet six of them: from a family baking apple pie from a recipe untouched since the 1900s, a fishmonger who still cleans herring by hand in full view of the street, to a cheesemonger aging Gouda the traditional way. You'll dip into a historic cheese shop, chase down poffertjes fresh off the griddle, and taste a home recipe from a kitchen that gives women space to cook food from their own cultures. Along the way, wander canal-side streets built for 17th-century workers and alleys that once held the city's poorest families. Your guide keeps the group small, never more than 12. Vegetarian, gluten-free and other dietary needs are easily accommodated with advance notice.

An ideal tour for foodies, this journey around Amsterdam’s canals focuses on local food and produce. Twenty-five minutes from Amsterdam sits the city the tour buses skip. Come hungry. Utrecht is older than Amsterdam and the locals like it quieter. This is a small-group food walk led by a local guide who knows the people behind the food. A full Dutch lunch, not a handful of snacks. You eat as you go and leave full. Award-winning fried fish and the herring story behind Dutch wealth. A sandwich locals have queued for decades. Real Dutch cheese. A dark chocolate shaped like the tower you just stood under. Beer in a centuries-old hidden church. Fresh Dutch falafel in one of Europe's most vegan-friendly cities. Vegetarian and vegan guests welcome. Between bites come the stories: the only Dutch pope, a church disguised as a mansion, a church that is now a hotel. Easy pace, a 1.5 mile stroll, not a route march. Small groups, twelve at most. Two drinks included. Real bites, real stories, real Utrecht.

Seeing Amsterdam’s canal-side sights on foot means plenty of walking and crowded bridges. You keep full control in the StepQuests app. GPS leads you to each pin, short stories and quizzes unlock on arrival, and you choose the pace. Skip a stop if you are full. Order something else if the counter looks better than our tip. We give a hand-picked list of venues, and we aim to send you only to places open during your visit window so you do not walk up to a closed door. This suits couples, friends, and solo travelers who want real Haarlem food culture without a live guide or fixed group. Best on Saturday when the Grote Markt stalls are running.
