This cooking class experience was everything and more than we were expecting. Our teacher, Beatriz did such an amazing job guiding us through the menu (Cod Fish Dish, Pork Dish, Rice Dish, Egg Dish, and Dessert!) and helping the group produce an amazing meal!! My friends and I loved this class and Beatriz, as she was very friendly and personable! 100% would recommend to anyone looking to immerse yourself in Portuguese culture through food! They even sang Happy Birthday, which was a nice and welcome surprise. I can’t say enough good things!

The cooking class was hands-on and included several courses, finishing up with pastel de nata. Theresa was an excellent teacher and gave history and context for the recipes, which was helpful. The only challenge was she did not get information I put into the Viator reservation about one person in my group not having any alcohol in the food, but she made modifications on the spot which was very appreciated.
We have taken cooking classes across the world and this was one of our favorites...and not just because we took home a lot of leftovers, but that didn't hurt. 😀
We were given an incorrect address for the cooking studio. We got dropped off and realized. At that point I received a phone call from Viator representative telling us of their mistake and saying they sent me the new address (which they didn’t) and that it was as only a 15 minute walk to other location!! What!! I was very frustrated at this point and demanded they send us an uber to take us the correct address as we were already very late.
They did send the uber and when we got to correct studio all the people in the class had to scramble to get to the right place.
After that the class was well organized and lots of fun. Alll the food we made was we delicious and Diego was a good chef and instructor.
The only other glitch was that the room was so hot. He trying to lower the temp in the room to no avail. We had to keep stepping outside the studio too cool off. This made the experience less enjoyable. VIator needs to fix these problems for future classes. Could be great but mismanaged.
Teresa is fabulous. The good we made was delicious. I would highly recommend this to tour to everyone
Lots of fun. Great experience. The kids loved it and even mom cooked. The food was very good. We met new people and had. Great night. Different and fun vs going to a restaurant
Miguel is an excellent instructor. It was great doing a group cooking session with other travellers from various parts of the world. A nice selection of dishes were represented with more recipes made available to us. The techniques demonstrated can easily be adapted to other dishes.
There was a wide range of cooking skills within our group with Miguel making everyone in the group feel comfortable and able to participate.
I had great time, we cooked really amazing dishes. Teacher was really nice and explained everything very well. It is very nice place for a cooking class.
Such a fun class and yummy food! The dishes were absolutely perfect to prepare, cook, and eat! Miguel was such a great teacher and he taught us so much about the history of Portugal and its incredible cuisine. We had a great group with the best energy and I cannot stress enough how this class was such a highlight of our trip!
Marta was fantastic! Great opportunity to meet others from all over the world and create and share a meal together. The food we made was absolutely delicious!!! Highly recommend. We also bought an apron from there we loved it so much and wanted to have one for home to reflect on this experience.
We had a wonderful time cooking and meeting new friends! Marta was amazing and guided us smoothly through the whole experience. Highly recommended! Great way to start off our trip!
We enjoyed meeting new people, and he did a good job explaining the history of the food and not only what to do but why to do it.
Miguel was amazing and thorough. Directions were clear, experience was immersive and we made a lot of friends! The food was delicious and we highly recommend as one of the best cooking classes we’ve experienced so far!
Great menu and instructions. Would like to have the opportunity to prepare more dishes. Group was great although a few food restrictions impacted the experience. Instructor was very accommodating.
First I will say the the class building and staff were wonderful! It was very clean and well organized. The lady who led our class kept things moving in a very enjoyable timely manner that made the time fly by!
I gave 3 starts because I was disappointed with the actual menu vs what was listed as a sample menu on the website. This trip with my sister is very special and we won't get to do something like this again. There were many classes to choose from and we chose this specific class carefully based on the Sample Menu which listed 3 starters: Caldo-verde, Pica-pau, Amêijoa à Bulhão Pato (Clams Bulhão Pato Style); several Main Dishes: Bacalhau à Brás (Codfish Brás Style), Pataniscas de Bacalhau (Codfish Fritters), Carne de Porco com Amêijoas (Pork meat with Clams), Migas com Entrecosto (Pork Ribs with Migas); and several Desserts: Pastel de Nata, Arroz Doce (Rice Pudding), and Torta de laranja (Orange Roll). I assumed we would be making all that food.
We made a different appetizer altogether (friend deviled eggs). We did make 3 main dishes: Migas com Entrecosto (Pork Ribs with Migas). Beans & Rice, and a cod dish (Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá). The fish was already cooked so we just flaked it. Although that saved time I wanted to learn how to cook fish (another reason I chose this class) but didn't get to. For dessert we made the famous Pastel de Nata.
The cooking process was well organized and very enjoyable, but I was very disappointed not to make one of the appetizers listed. I'm not a fan of eggs and would have chosen a different class knowing that was our appetizer. When I'm paying so much for a class I research the details expecting to get what I read on the description.
Our teacher told us the pork is normally marinated overnight and then cooked. I understand why - it was very tough once cooked. I enjoy Pastel de Nata but was very excited to make the other desserts listed. If I ever get another chance to do this type of class I will ask more questions about the specific menu. Or perhaps the description can be more clear about what food is being made.
Overall, I recommend taking a cooking class in Lisbon and if the specific dishes listed are not important to you then take THIS CLASS!
An absolute highlight of our trip! We had a very hands-on evening learning to prepare authentic Portuguese dishes. Our chef, Miguel, was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and generous with the wine! I can't recommend this highly enough."
Miguel was a great culinary instructor! He easily managed a group of 12 and taught us how to make several traditional Portuguese dishes that we got to enjoy at the end of the class. Highly recommend if you like Portuguese cuisine and want to be able to make some classics at home.
This was a highlight of my trip!! Teresa was a great instructor and the food we made was so yummy. I really enjoyed the people in my group and it was wonderful to share a meal with people from around the world.
It’s very interactive with the other guests! Bea was fantastic, the prep was simple/easy, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The sound with another class going on made it very difficult to hear when we were sitting at the table. Some simple sound proofing on the divided ‘wall’ would help tremendously.
This is a very fun cooking class. Miguel was our instructor. He did an amazing job and helped the class have fun.
Highly recommend this class.
Great way to meet other people as this is a group cooking class with fellow travelers. The instructions were easy and there was plenty of food for everyone to enjoy.
What an incredible way to experience Portuguese cooking! We had the best time trying new dishes and meeting new friends.
We ended up having to switch our date because of circumstances that were out of our control and Viator was so accommodating. Our chef Pedro was amazing. He was very welcoming and patient. His instructions were easy to follow and he gave us great advice and demonstrated excellent techniques. I would recommend this experience to all!
I really enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend it! The kitchen is modern, clean, and well-organized. When you arrive to the class, the ingredients are all portioned out (cooking show style) for you to work in pairs. There were solo traveler. We all vibed and they had just as much fun as everyone else. Miguel, our instructor was friendly and kind. We made 4 dishes and pastel de nata. The food was flavorful and fun to make. One traditional dish (Bacalhau à Brás) was rehydrated dried, salted cod with potatoes, onions, and boiled eggs. Um…not a combination I have to have ever again. But, it’s better than is sounds and we had so much fun with everyone. The other guests drank a ton of wine and they kept everyone’s glass full. I don’t drink, but the mango juice was yummy. I do wish they reminded people to wash their hands more. If you are a germaphobe, beware. You are eating food your classmates prepare. I washed my hands at least 5-7 times. Some people washed just once. A simple sign with handwashing suggestions would help. But, still, it deserves my 5⭐️ because these are very “me” issues. Book it! Do it for the plot and pics!
We organised the experience as a surprise for a friend. Our host Theresa was most welcoming and made it a special occasion singing happy birthday as we arrived! We all loved the cooking experience and would definitely do it again.
Excellent food, meet new friends who live all over the world and learn to prepare the meals that you’ve enjoyed while I. portugal
We learned to prepare five Portuguese dishes including pastel de nata (some to take home too) with really clear instructions-excellent
This was a great way to learn more about Portuguese food while interacting with other travelers. Instructor was engaging and spoke excellent English. The class is located at a bus stop making it easy to get to. Highly recommend!
What a great way to feel like you are experiencing Lisbon, not just observing Lisbon. The best part was the relaxed atmosphere and visiting eigh other group members. It was a great way to exchange information and travel tips.
This was such a fun experience! Miguel was very kind, knowledgeable, and explained the cooking steps so well that they were easy to follow. It was very child friendly too. I would definitely recommend this experience in Portugal.
Stress-free, easy going and fun cooking class, Pedro our instructor was amazing, he taught how to cook traditional Portugese meals in a way we won’t forget, extremely knowledgable guy! Would recommend this for anyone new to Portugese food, also would recommend checking with the company to ensure which location you are at as there are two different locations, Viator gave us the address for the location we weren’t supposed to be at, it was no biggie though just be mindful!
We absolutely loved our time and would recommend it to anyone who enjoy cooking, eating and knowing more about Portuguese cuisine.
