Great transfer

Lukasz was our transfer driver today. He was brilliant. We were picked up on time. He drove so carefully that I fell, which I never do when someone else is driving. We had an early start and arrived in time to meet the others in the group. The organisation to get us into the tour was flawless. The tour guide was brilliant and very knowledgeable. He was happy to answer questions. On the way back we had a bit of a journey and we stopped off for a 15mins break. Lukasz told us of local places visit. Adam was a superb guide

My husband and I booked this tour for mid September and it was superb, as was our guide. Adam was prompt, gracious and his English is excellent. The drive was lovely and the castle was stunning. While it is in very good shape, the decor was lacking, but this is due to the Germans and Russians who ransacked it during WWII. You can see how much Poland suffered during the war. We didn't go into the tunnels because of the hundreds of stairs. The Palm House was also stunning. One of the nicest greenhouses I ever saw with lemurs and peacocks. The favorite was the Church of Peace which is breathtaking. Pictures don't do it justice. We went to a nearby restaurant for an early dinner. It was superb and amazingly Rustic polish. The whole day was a great experience and of the highest quality.

History buff's delight

Great tour for WW2 history buffs and those interested or with a connection to The Great Escape. The visit to the museum with its replicas and memorabilia is very interesting but I recommend you arrange a tour with one of the volunteers. I was unable to do so and let with a few unanswered questions. A short drive away is the original site of the Stalag Luft 111. Although only ruins and foundations remain, it is worth the short trip to get an idea of the size of the barracks and, particularly as the route of the tunnel, Harry, has been marked upon the surface in concrete and gives an amazing insight into the ingenuity and courage the soldiers exhibited. Also note that the museum is approximately 2 hours drive from Wroclaw so be ready for a few hours in the car. Fortunately, it is a pleasant drive and my driver, Gregory, was great company, and kept me informed of any interesting landmarks etc. as well as chatting about our mutual love of sport and travel. Thanks Gregory.
