Vlad III, the Prince of Wallachia, was born sometime between 1428 and 1431, probably in Sighişaora, Transylvania. His patronymic, ‘Dracul’, means Dragon, derived from the membership of his father, Vlad II Dracul, in the Order of the Dragon, an order of chivalry for the defence of Christianity in Eastern Europe against the Ottomans, so the young Vlad became known as Dracula, or “son of Dragon”. The exact date, cause, and location of Vlad’s death is unknown, but is believed to have taken place between October and December 1476, when he disappeared in battle. It is known, however, that his head was taken to Constantinople as a trophy. His daughter Maria was meanwhile brought to the Neapolitan court, whose ruling family was allied with her own family, where she was adopted and eventually married to a Neapolitan nobleman.

Excellent small group trip with a friendly group of people. Matthew was a great guide. The Monestry and Palace were both worth the visit, but please take cash for entry to the Monestry and you will need to pay extra if you wish to take photos inside in both

Our guide Toni contacted us the day before the trip to confirm the trip time and pick up point. He collected us on time. His car was modern, comfortable, clean and airconditioned, it was a hot day. He proved to be a knowledgeable guide taking us through the 3 monasteries and a palace at our own pace while explaining their histories. The whole trip took just over 4 hours. We enjoyed the trip very much.

Fabulous day with an incredible host. Toni was the perfect guide - he was: communicative in arranging pickup; exceptionally organized; considerate of our needs; and, provided the right amount of history. This was a great way to spend our day! We’ve done a lot of Viator tours … this is one of the best. Do yourself a favor … this tour should be on your ‘Must Do’ when visiting Bucharest.

Well-organized tour. History, architecture, museums, art, culture, masterpieces, countryside, sunshine and blue sky. We came back to Bucharest to visit especially these places. Our guide, Serban was a perfect guide. He is helpful, informative, open-minded person. He does his best to feel yourself better and better till the end of the trip. More than perfect experience. Snagov and Mogosoaia Palace are a great combination tour

Emil the tour guide is EXCELLENT! He’s a local celebrity having appeared on a local TV show for many years. He really knows his history. Gabriel, the van driver, is an excellent driver. We did the private tour for just the 2 of us. Definitely the way to go. We even stopped at a local eatery and had had mici for lunch! Highly recommend this tour to get a great background on Vlad Tepes/Dracula.
