Definitely the best way to see Yilan and Kavalan Whisky Distillery
I highly recommend taking a private tour to Yilan, especially if you’re interested in visiting Kavalan Whisky distillery and seeing the highlights of the area. Toku of Yolo Taiwan Travel took good care of us, allowing for plenty of time at the distillery and recommending other sites to see. Local Peking-style duck for lunch was very delicious. Another benefit of having a private smaller vehicle (not tour bus) is a ride up to Mr. Brown’s Castle for coffee at the cafe! The view of the ocean from the mountain is very nice. Do it, you won’t be disappointed.

Whiskey distillery is only part of a great day trip!
Our driver/guide Hicks Wang did an excelent job during the entire tour. From the drive through Taiwan's longest tunnel, at the distillery, the Traditional Arts Folk Park, the Fishermen's Harbor, Waiao beach and the Mr. Brown Coffee at the top of the mountain, he provided a fountain of information and background on each place. It was a great last full day in Taiwan and highly recomended. The five different Kavalan whiskies we tasted were pretty good, too!

Private tour to King Car Whisky and Coffee in Yilan
This was a fun relaxing trip with the best tour guide, Vincent! He was so nice, helpful, informative and his car was very comfortable. We visited KavaLan whisky distillery and sampled the goods! Then we visited an animal farm and feeding the critters was a blast - made us laugh! Vincent took so many pictures of us, too. We requested a fresh seafood restaurant and Vincent easily located one which had fresh abalone and lobster. Ended the day at Mr Brown’s castle for Whisky ice cream and a Whisky Latte! The drive included the longest tunnel through Snow Mountain. We highly recommend this tour and private is the way to go.

A Trip Worth Every Pennies
Our tour guide, Bubble, is very experienced and knowledgeable in his profession. He payed close attention to each individual's needs and addressed issues before being asked. Quickly, he become friends of everyone. We arrived Taipei at its peak temperature in summer. Bubble rearranged our (indoor/outdoor) stops to make it easier for us to mitigate the heat. In addition. he introduced local religions and culture to us while traveling on his van. He pointed out stuff that are unique in Taiwan, but was overlooked. With him by our side, it felt like we knows everything about Taiwan in a few hours. We would love to have Bubble as our guide for our future adventure in Taiwan. He is simply the best!

Great Private Tour of Yilan
Really enjoyed the private tour. Got to see a different side of Taiwan, away from the big cities.
The National Center for Traditional Arts was quite large and had many shops and exhibits. The whisky Distillery was a must visit as someone who drinks and collects whisky. They had a cafe with great lunch and coffee, and the whisky tasting menu had a lot of options. Also visited the beach, which was a nice way to end the tour.
Most importantly, Steven was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend allocating a day for this tour, especially for anyone only staying in Taipei or other big cities during their trip.

A Great Introduction into Northern Taiwan
Our tour with Steven Huang was a great kickoff to experience Taiwan.
Here is the itinerary he provided to us the day prior to departing:
10:00 Hotel pick-up
11:20-13:00 King Car Kavalan Distillery
13:30-15:30 National Center for Traditional Arts
16:10-16:50 Wushih Harbor
17:10-17:50 Mr. Brown Café - 1st Store
17:50-19:00 Back to hotel
As you can see it was so much more than just the Kavalan Distillery Tour.
We modified the tour a bit but still covered all of the attractions listed above. Steven was easy to talk with and provided a comfortable and enjoyable ride in between stops. He was a great photographer and provided us ample time to at each destination.
