What are people saying about Rio de Janeiro

Highly recommend sunrise hike in Rio!
Highly recommend! Sunrise tour is well worth the early morning wake up. Guide was a young guy from favela so community really benefits from the tour. Motorcycle ride up was a bit intense, if you’re not used to riding fast motorbikes without helmets, suggest you opt for the car option.

If I could give this six stars, I would
If I could give this six stars, I would. Ines was a friendly and interesting guide on a tour which was both informative and enjoyable. It was great being close to this year's floats, and seeing and trying on some costumes and headdresses.
I learned a lot about Carnaval: this experience made me keen to see it for myself one day. Highly recommended.

Tour guide for the limited mobility and elderly
Walter was so lovely to be with . He exceeded my expectations. We were able to go to most places on my list despite the weather . He took me to a talented artists workshop and to other shops too . I appreciated his ability to accommodate my limited mobility. This allowed me easier access to places like sugarloaf . I could not have done these activities without him .

100% worth booking
This was a nice small tour (only 3 of us total) our guide was amazing start to finish. He took us to all the best picture spots and even some secret spots with no crowds so we could enjoy sunrise.
He took all of our photos from all the different angles, we didn't even have to ask he got every single shot for us which we are grateful for.
Honestly the best experience ever.

Exceptional Day in Rio with Karla
We were picked up right at the cruise port by a private driver and our guide, Karla. Communication beforehand was excellent, with very clear instructions about the meeting point. Karla spoke excellent English and was energetic, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about her country. At each stop, the driver dropped us off and Karla guided us personally, sharing a wealth of information, taking photos for us, and making the experience feel very customized. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Carretão, a Brazilian steakhouse, which was a highlight of the day. Karla seemed to know everyone everywhere we went. At both Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer, she greeted the staff warmly and was able to take us straight to the front of the lines, which made a huge difference. It was a fantastic day and a tour I would absolutely recommend—especially with Karla as your guide.

We did a guided tour of...
We did the tour of Rio’s historic center and Santa Teresa with guide Renato and enjoyed it overall. The small group made the experience more personal, and Renato was agreeable, knowledgeable, and gave clear, interesting explanations.
The only downside was that it took place on New Year’s Day, so the shops in the city center and the handicraft stores in Santa Teresa were closed. Otherwise, it was a pleasant and informative tour.

Living on the Edge!
This was a physically CHALLENGING experience! If you are not in decent physical shape (great knees, great legs, great lungs), this may not be a tour for you. The hike up the mountain is TOUGH! It is almost an hour long hike on rugged terrain. The Telegraph Stone is at a height of 1161 feet (354 meters). But if you can make it to the top, it is WORTH THE CHALLENGE! The views are breathtaking and the pics are priceless! Mauricio, our tour guide was patient, accommodating and as can be seen, also a GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER, he took my pix shown here, thanks bro. The tour van however is quite OLD and is in poor shape and SHOULD to be replaced. The ride in the van was very uncomfortable. We were all crammed in with little or no leg room. Please please please get a NEW VEHICLE. Would I do this specific tour again? HELL NO as it is very challenging physically plus, unless you're at the telegraph stone at the crack of dawn, you'll have to wait for close to 2 hrs to take your pics as there'll be others ahead of you and some folks in other tour groups are selfish and want to take 50 pics per person! There should be a limit of no more than 10 mins of pic taking per person! Anyway, I am happy I was able to complete the hike and get my pics with that iconic piece of rock! Go for it! You won't be disappointed!

Must do while in Rio
The guide was fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English. She gave great and detailed information about the history of the country, the city of Rio de Janeiro, and some buildings we passed along the way.
The van was air conditioned and great. The Cristo Redentor was packed yet everyone was kind to each other. Take water with you but they sold it 3 for R$20 (about US$4 for 3 bottles).
We also went to the Se Laron steps, be ready to walk up the steps (about 140 or so). It was equally packed also.

Hands down the best helicopter company.
Hands down one of the best companies we have dealt with during our travels. We were late due to traffic and they made accommodations so that we could still fly. We felt welcomed and invited. The entire team from ground crew to the managers and the pilot all went above and beyond. We had an epic flight around all the promised landmarks. It was a great way to begin our trip and get a lay of the land tour.
The reception crew welcomed us with coffee and a brief explanation of what to expect. Then we proceeded to the flight line where the ground crew and pilot took care of our safety and communication. After liftoff it was a blissful view of the chaos of Rio and the surrounding area. The tour was informative and fun. Throughout the rest of our trip we could repeatedly say “Oh we saw that from the helicopter.”. We are pretty sure that the rest of our tour group was jealous of our time in the sky.
The company is top notch. The employees there make you feel safe and pampered and allow you to relax and enjoy the flight.

Excellent Guides in Rio
We had an excellent guide Diogo and driver Beth. They customized the tour and helped us see many unique and wonderful parts of Rio. Despite the rain, we had an amazing day with wonderful guides. We booked a separate tour with the same company and also enjoyed our time with Igor. Everyone was friendly and gave great history and current events info.

Satisfying day tour.
Although the tour guide struggled with his English he still manage to pull it off. We covered all the tours and even came with a couple of bonus like tasting wine and bringing us to this small platform as we descend the Chrost the Redeemer to have a good view of the Statue and the city

An amazing last minute tour!
Our tour guide, Wellington, was awesome! He gave us amazing information and brought us to some great places to eat, drink, and hang. For anyone visiting, go with an open mind and a willingness to see life through another's eyes. What you'll find is that life is magnificent, fast, and beautiful. You'll meet locals, have time to get food and shop, and get to appreciate the true beauty of life in the Favelas. My husband and I found life there to be its own work of art. And it's a form of art the we personally loved. We had so much fun and would go back again. It was truly captivating and the highlight of our trip. It's going to sound silly, but my favorite part was looking at the electrical wiring, it was just very pretty to me!
Ps, best drinks in Rio 🧉🧉🧉they be doing heavy pours
Again, I would not recommend you go if you are not open minded or if you are going to be judgemental. You are visiting a place that thousands call home. Be respectful of the people and be appreciative that they've welcomed you into their home.
And most importantly- TIP YOUR GUIDES!!!! None of the Europeans on our tour tipped, and that's not cool. They tip in Brazil! Fellow Americans - tip your guides like you'd tip your guides in the states. Don't be cheap!
Other advice, wear good walking shoes and be prepared to walk a lot of steps. If you have issues walking I would not recommend going. Also I'd recommend dressing down. I was dressed up and was fine it was more so that my long skirt made walking the steps more difficult.
