We had an absolutely excellent day visiting Kuang Si Falls. The experience began with a prompt pick-up from our guesthouse, followed by a relaxing morning cruise along the Mekong River. Our first stop was at a local rice farm, which was both informative and enjoyable a great cultural introduction to the day.
From there we continued on to the Falls. Pany handled all the entrance formalities seamlessly, allowing us to sail straight through the gate without any delays.
The Falls themselves were magnificent. The climb to the top certainly provided a good workout, followed by a 3km hike to the restaurant, but every step was worth it. Lunch was simple but good, and we had plenty of time to swim in the turquoise pools, explore the springs, and simply relax in the beautiful surroundings before heading back down.
We returned to the boat via electric cart and minibus, and the sunset cruise along the Mekong was truly spectacular a perfect and peaceful way to end the day.
A special mention must go to our guide, Pany, who was outstanding. He was patient, knowledgeable, and great fun to be around. He also captured photos and videos throughout the day and kindly shared them with us via WhatsApp, which was a lovely touch.
I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Luang Prabang.

We booked the half day Khuangsi Waterfalls trip. Going to the falls in the morning was great, as it wasn't crowded. Also, the road to the falls is in pretty bad shape (as of February 2026)--rutted and dusty. Being in an air-conditioned van was very pleasant, and alone worth the cost of the trip. But on top of the comfortable ride, our guide Pany was terrific. He took us on a lesser-used trail to the top of the falls. He knew the best viewpoints and took plenty of pictures for us. We had plenty of time to climb up to The View and go through the bear rescue. We also stopped at the Hmong village. Overall, a great morning.

Kuang Si Waterfall is an absolute must-do when visiting Luang Prabang. The whole day felt perfectly paced, with enough time to explore, swim, and just enjoy the unreal turquoise water and jungle surroundings. Every level of the waterfall is stunning, and it honestly looks even better in real life than in photos.
What truly made the experience exceptional was our guide, Da. Da was hands down the best guide I’ve had on any day trip — knowledgeable, kind, funny, and genuinely cared that everyone was having a great time. He shared local insights, helped with the best photo spots, and made the entire trip feel relaxed and personal rather than rushed or touristy.
If you’re thinking about visiting Kuang Si Waterfall, do it — and if you can go with Da as your guide, you’re in the best possible hands. Highly recommended. 🌿💦

Waterfalls fairly good but similar to lots of ones we had already seen in SE Asia.
The cruise back along the Mekong river was the highlight for us 5/5! Really relaxing, great views with the sunset and a big bottle of beer to go with it.

5 stars because of pany the guide :)
He was truly the best! Very attentive, making sure we got all the snacks, teas and coffees.
Told us many interesting stories while walking in the forest. Amazingly kind soul and he honestly made the trip the best. Thank you pany!

I did the afternoon trip version of this tour. The waterfall was really beautiful and the zip line ride totally worth it.
However I have some feedback for our tour guide Un:
We were not made aware of how long the zip line ride could take and that if we wished to do it we should do so straight away when arriving at the waterfall. When we got to the top and asked if we had enough time to do it, the zipline staff said yes. However, the group in front of us was extremely slow and we couldn't get back to the meeting pont at the agreed time.
Therefore, Un and the rest of our tour group left, and we were unable to get to the Mekong sunset cruise part of the trip (I'm glad the rest of the group got to do it and that we didn't ruin it for them - this was a good call by the organisers). However, had Un provided more details at the start of the trip, we would've skipped the zip line (or done it straight away) and made it back on time for the cruise.
Also, be aware there is an additional stop as part of the trip that doesn't show in the itinerary. Halfway to the waterfall you stop at a local village where you are paraded through stalls that are all attended by children asking you to buy their souvenirs. While I understand the local communities depend mostly on tourism, this wasn't advertised in the tour description. We couldn't help but wonder why all these kids were not at school on a Friday at 2pm (unaware of the school system in Laos), and whether they were attending the stalls to make the tourists feel sorry and buy their souvenirs. I saw some of them running to put on their traditional hats and clothes as they saw the tourists approaching. The whole thing gave me mixed feelings.
I believe if we hadn't done this ~20m stop, Un could've waited another 10m for us to finish the zip line and we could've made it to the cruise on time.
Finally, I think an overall better explanation could've been provided at the waterfall, such as where is best to go if you wanted to swim, or how best to use your time in general. We were just dropped off there. More than a tour it felt like a transport service to the waterfall.
Otherwise, Un was very kind and friendly, he seemed professional and enthusiastic. He arranged for a different tour guide to take us back to the city. For the people who made it to the cruise, they gave them a complimentary beer which was nice.
In summary, my feedback is to provide better communication, both in the tour activities description, and useful tips as to how to organise your visit to the waterfall.

Pany was a great guide and kept checking in to make sure we were happy! The falls were very beautiful

The warterfalls are really beautiful and our guide Pany from Manifa Travel was very kind and efficient

Our tour guide, Phan, was really nice and friendly. The half-day tour was well-timed and felt complete. After the tour, I could choose where I wanted to go, and they kindly dropped me off at the nearest location. If I had more time, I would definitely join the full-day tour as well. Unfortunately, I couldn’t because I had to catch my train to Vientiane at 6:35 PM.

We were collected on time and transferred to another bus we met our very talkative guide who was certainly lively on a morning and a really lovely person. He explained that on the tour some were doing half day and others full day. To be honest the full day tour sounded much better but it would have been another 20$ to switch across.
After a while we stopped at a Hmong Village where another group had already arrived so we had to join in with them and we couldn’t always see. After they left we then had the parts that we missed initially. It was interesting and definitely an important cultural experience.
Onwards to the waterfalls which were flooding and many of the walkways were not passable but there was a road. We brought towels hoping to take a plunge but there was no change given the wet season, this should be made clearer on the site.
Lots of time here so we climbed the 500 steps to the top of the waterfall where you pay another fee for the view. It was a great experience but not for those who aren’t physically fit. There was little else to do actually so I imagine those who didn’t climb must have spent time looking at the bears or just staring at the waterfall, which is very beautiful.
Afterwards we were dropped back to Luang Prabang and then transferred to another bus to drop us at our hotels, we were back for around 1.30pm while the whole day tour guests went on for an included lunch.

It was a nice day out, with short visit to a Hmong village and then the beautiful waterfalls.
On the way back the guide initiated a stop at a buffalo ice cream shop. That was a nice bonus.
Keith_I, Apr 2025
The falls were stunning and the village very interesting, and the guide and driver really took care of us.
Cynthia_C, Apr 2025
The beauty of these falls was incredible. Lots of different sized steps to walk up but I must admit we took the easy way out and didn’t go to the very top, however he still got some amazing photographs. It was great having a break at the cafe and using the electric cart saved walking some steps in the heat. I wish we had have had time and energy to thoroughly investigate the buffalo farm as they do such great work in the community and there ingenious initiatives must be having such good and positive effects. Their ice cream was delicious! The Hmong village was very interesting. It was great finding out about the history and the culture of this group of people. It did feel though that part of it was just a tourism gimmick. However, it was still a worthwhile experience. Our to cry and Driver were great. The guide had lots of information to give us but his English was sometimes difficult to understand. Overall, this experience was worthwhile.

Although our tour guide was very friendly to was more like a taxi service there and back and you just wander around by yourself a few hours but actually I enjoyed doing that on my own.
The waterfalls are extremely beautiful and you have about 2 hours to walk around, I did walk all they up to the top to “the view” but all I could see was trees and no waterfall… (you can pay money to do a treetop walk but I think still you can’t see the waterfall ) so best views were walking around the bottom, the water was such a beautiful colour!
One thing I would add to the tour company is to make sure people stick to the given times and if they don’t, they will be left.
We had one woman on the trip who was not ready for pick up at the hotel in the morning so we waited about half an hour, then again after the waterfalls she made everyone wait over 30 minutes in the van while the tour guide waited for her which meant we had literally a 5 minute stop at Hmong village.
If people are late, they should be made aware that the bus will go without them as this slightly ruined my experience of the tour.

There are numerous transport options in Luang Prabang as alternatives to taking this tour. Having a guide to discuss the nature reserve and plants in the waterfall area would have justified the tour. But the guide provide no information on anything related to this tour, and left us to explore the area on our own. Similarly there was no cultural information about the hill tribe village.
Dennis_O, Feb 2025
Very beautiful waterfall! If you hike the 560 steps to “the view” as I did, you will be disappointed because there is no view of it he waterfall.
CJ_M, Feb 2025
Lovely experience! Am happy to recommend. Beautiful waterfall, lovely drive, excellent guide, what a great day. :)
Marie_W, Jan 2025
I found the tour quite disappointing. The waterfall was much smaller than I had anticipated, with little to explore or enjoy. In fact, the moon bears at the sanctuary near the waterfall were more engaging than the waterfall itself. That said, this isn’t the fault of the tour organizer—I should have done more research beforehand to understand what to expect.
However, one area the tour organizer could improve is the role of the tour guide. The guide merely points to the route on a map without offering any actual guidance or insights during the walk to the waterfall. Essentially, the experience felt more like a taxi service to the site than a guided tour.
Masatoshi_T, Jan 2025
It was a beautiful waterfall, not gorgeous but picuturesque scenary. An electric car takes you to the starting point of the fall and can take you to the top when you need a wheelchair. A wondereful landscape and service.
Roarke_M, Dec 2024
Im very satisfied with the tour! I will say Kuang Si is gorgeous and relaxing so you may just want to come here on your own if you want to spend all day. If you want to check the place out and swim you will still have plenty of time though.
The hmong village is cool but I wish we would have spent more time there and learned more. But I am still satisfied!
Yukiko_O, Dec 2024
It was a fun compact half day tour especially those who are busy bee travelers like us.
Because quan si fall is the one of the ‘must to see ‘ place in LPB.
Emily_S, Dec 2024
Really good experience, would recommend! We booked a private tour for 4 and it was totally worth it! Driver was very friendly and personable. The ride was comfortable. We visited Kuang Si Waterfall, Bear Sanctuary, Lao Buffalo Dairy Farm, and Hmong Village - overall it was a very enjoyable half-day trip.
Deborah_S, Nov 2024
We chose the private tour so that we could spend more time at the waterfall and also pay extra to visit the butterfly park. It was great having a nice car to drive the small roads in and our guide was very patient with us when we were taking so many photos at the waterfalls, then looked after our bags when we went to swim in them! Although it cost more I think it was definitely worth it.
Vicki_H, Oct 2024
Excellent trip - informative visit to the village and amazing waterfalls where we had 2 hours - plenty of time to swim and walk to the very top and back plus see the bear sanctuary
Frederic_L, Sep 2024
Was worried for some of the reviews. But once you read the fine print to get a good expectation of the trip, you should be all good. The description is accurate.
Jackson_B, Sep 2024
This is not a tour. This is a transport to and from the waterfall with a 20 minute stop at a house. There was no Butterfly Garden nor Dairy Farm option, which is stated in the tour details. It’s much cheaper if you get a driver to the falls and you can stay as long as you want. I wouldn’t recommend.
Grzi_F, Jun 2024
The waterfall is beautiful, I would spend the whole day there.
Punctuality and the guide is cool!!!!
Brian_C, May 2024
Well organised, worked around the weather. Comfortable minibus. Good option for visiting the falls, recommended
David_H, May 2024
Great half day trip to the stunning waterfalls. Water wave s lovely and cool. Very refreshing. Little fish will nibble your feet and legs - quite thickly! Not mentioned but included in the park ticket was the Free The Bears sanctuary. Got to see a few moon bears foraging for food. Wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great English.
Kevin_B, Apr 2024
The waterfall is a sensational experience- an utterly beautiful place and, strangely enough, not swarming with tourists. The visit to the Hmong Village was embarrassing. We were shepherded along a conveyor belt of locals trying to sell their produce. The whole experience was demeaning for the tourist and even more demeaning for the poor locals.
