This was even better than I expected! The tour allocates seating at table and I had very interesting fellow travellers, along with the rest of the passengers. Well organised and helpful crew. Interesting visits arranged to Karen and Hmong villages plus Buddhist caves etc. Excellent views from the boat. The day was scheduled so that you could relax but also time never dragged. Initial booking was helpful and efficient. Recommended hotel was great.

We had a wonderful day exploring around Luang Prabang and experiencing some of the highlights of Laos.
Our guide, Mr Pong, was informative, knowledgeable and very detailed. He shared plenty of information about the local culture, history and way of life, which made the different stops much more meaningful.
Our driver, Mr Me, also did a great job navigating the potholes, winding roads and bumpy sections along the way. We always felt safe and comfortable throughout the journey.
The itinerary was well planned, with a visit to a traditional Hmong village, followed by the beautiful Kuang Si Falls and lunch nearby elephants. We then continued with a Mekong River cruise to Pak Ou Caves, which was a lovely way to experience the scenery along the river.
The little extras made the day even more enjoyable. Having drinks brought on board during the cave visit was a nice touch, and the whisky tasting was definitely a fun and memorable experience!
The only real downside was the rainy weather, which made some of the trails wet and the day a little more challenging. But even the rain could not take away from the experience.
Overall, a memorable and enjoyable Laos adventure with a great guide, reliable driver and a good mix of culture, nature, food and local experiences.
It was ok! The village visit and falls is ok, nothing spectacular. The van ride was rough due rough roads. The lunch and elephant was the highlight, and sunset cruise back to the night market.
Thanks to my guide Tayso and the others at Manife for an excellent tour. They were able to communicate well and got us where we needed to be.
Very organized and you were able to do everything in the trip. Make sure you reach out to see what is needed to bring with you the day before as you start by car then move by boat at the end.
This tour was great! Pong, my guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Loved seeing all of the sites! A must do.
Very nice experience. Waterfalls are spectaculous, like from the painted picture. Worth to climb up to enjoy views above treetops.
Absolute fantastic day out on a private trip! Sooo much to see and experience all in one day. A top guide who showed us the Waterfall, Caves, Whiskey Village, Paper Making and Perfect lunch stop at the Elephant Camp..!! Add in a boat cruise and Buffalo ice cream...AWESOME GUIDE AND AWESOME DAY
Incredible day in nature and learning Lao history! Being able to have free time to explore and take in the sights were extra special. Our guide, Dang, was especially nice and knowledgable. The buffet lunch was great and it was fun to learn about the wildlife (bears and elephants), whisky, and see hand crafts being made in a traditional village at the end. We would fully recommend this tour.
Beautiful day on the waterfalls and the Mekong river ….
The tour guide amazing name Bon!!! He was very enthusiastic and helpful in all aspects, very caring and kind . We love him
The waterfalls are breathtaking, what a beauty in Laos . Also the long tail boat on the mekong river so beautiful and peaceful .. good opportunity for a relaxing on the journey all the way to the temples on the rock formation.
I really recommend this tour and the company.
This was nice. They drop you off at the different places and give you free time to explore. It’s not a guided tour which I really liked. Lunch was at an ”elephant sanctuary” which I thought was questionable. They said that the elephants could live freely in the forest and only came to the fence for snacks. However, they were obviously trained to perform tricks for tourists, like putting a hat on a person etc.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed parts of the day, but we’re sorry that the tour did not feel as guided as you expected.
This itinerary includes several stops where guests are given free time to explore independently, but our guide should still provide clear background information and context at each place. We will review this with the guide team so future guests receive better explanations about the sites, the Mekong, and the flow of the day.
Regarding the elephant camp lunch stop, we would like to clarify that our elephants are not kept for circus-style performances. They live in a forest-and-river environment under the daily care of experienced mahouts, and interactions with guests are meant to be calm, limited, and closely supervised. If you saw any moment that appeared staged or inappropriate, we take that seriously and will review it with our team.
Thank you again for your honest comments. They help us improve both our guiding and how we explain the elephant care model more clearly to visitors.
a very good set of activities, properly organized. it looked beautiful!

This was an awesome tour! The day was filled with activities and the boat ride was very peaceful. The lunch was excellent and I also was able to see and feed the elephants. Ended the day with the waterfalls, rice farm and sunset cruise. Highly recommend! The tour guide Von was great and knowledgeable.
It was a really good tour. The cruise back to Luang Prabang was out of this world with the beautiful surroundings. Enjoyed myself thoroughly, thank you.
Well organised, appreciated the lunch. Luang Prabang sunset was gorgeous. Loved seeing the elephants as well!
Good experience. Friendly guides. We went to all the spots listed. The air conditioned vehicle was nice.
We had a fantastic tour with Vone. Being a former Buddhist monk he was very knowledgeable about Buddhism which made our visit to the Pak Ou Caves more informative. Great tour if you want to see the caves and waterfalls in one day!
We did this in mid April when the Air Quality is very bad. It meant that what may have been a very picturesque river cruise at other times, meant that we could see very little other than the river bank on the immediate sides of where we were. It made for a fairly long and boring trip to the caves. The lunch provided with complimentary drinks was very good, and seeing the elephants was wonderful. It was a long and bumpy van ride to the falls which were very nice but the water levels were very low at this time of year. There was also the opportunity to see Sunbears.
Our guide was polite and pleasant, but gave us very little information along the way.
This was a great value, full day trip with lots of different elements.
2 hours to enjoy the waterfalls, whether you wanted to climb 250 odd steps to the view (where you could also do a zipline for $30), or spend time viewing the bears in the sanctuary, or simple stay on ground level enjoying the spectacular falls, amazing.
Then a long drive for lunch where elephants from the sanctuary were frolicking. Lunch and drinks were superb, with freshly barbequed meats and a host of other stuff. Then an opportunity to meet the elephants before boarding the boat. The cave stop was ok, and whiskey tasting a nice experience and the cruise was very chilled and gave an opportunity to chat to the great group i was lucky to be with.
The stop at the "traditional minority village" was awful in my opinion, at least give some insight into their lives rather than frog-march us on a pathway round it with Mothers and children begging us to buy from their stalls.
The morning guide was also very difficult to understand but the afternoon one much better.
Despite those very minor gripes it was an awesome tour!
Such a cool day. The falls were beautiful but hands down chilling on the boat cruising down the Mekong was our favorite part.
The experience it's nice.
Would be a good idea to have some umbrellas as start to rain from nowhere...
Great tour. There are LOTS of steps and inclines involved everywhere we went, so that is something to consider. Altogether a great day!
It was long day, but a lot of variety and incredibly beautiful views. The falls were among the best in the world, and certainly more enjoyable
Exploring the cultural and natural wonders of Laos was an unforgettable experience. The turquoise tiers of Kuang Si Waterfalls were breathtaking — a perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of nature. Our scenic cruise along the Mekong River offered peaceful views of local life along the riverbanks and a deeper appreciation of the region’s landscape.
Visiting the sacred Pak Ou Caves was a fascinating cultural highlight, with thousands of Buddha images creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. At Ban Xang Hai (Whisky Village), we enjoyed learning about traditional rice whisky-making and local craftsmanship. The visit to a Hmong village provided meaningful insight into indigenous traditions, daily life, and community culture.
A beautifully balanced journey of nature, history, and authentic local experiences — highly recommended for anyone visiting Laos.
Great way to see a few places in one day. We were blessed to have Mr Pong as our guide, and his sharings were fun and interesting. Instructions were clear and easily understood. The tour did converge with other groups after lunch, so it did get a little messy. In a country that discourages smoking, perhaps the guests should be reminded not to smoke upwind from everyone else; a lady sat in front of the boat as well as next to lunch area and shared her 2nd-hand smoke with everyone. The food at lunch was cold and bland at best, and the van we travelled in was stuffy and warm.
Well organized tour. Relaxing cruise along the Mekong River to reach a local village, the gorgeous Pak Ou cave and the delicious lunch buffet location (where you can take a photo with elephants). The last part of the trip was seems like a long bumpy drive to Kuang si falls. Everything was great, only issue was with the AC on the coaster van going to the falls, it was hot and the AC was not working well.
Amazing! I think this was one of the best tours I have ever done. Mr PingPong was a great guide and explained the whole day.
The Kuang Si waterfalls are incredible and I had plenty time to swim and look around.
A good buffet lunch and beer and then feeding elephants before the boat up the Mekong to the cave and then all the way down to Luang Prabang with a beautiful sunset. A very special day. Highly recommend this tour and company. Thank you for a wonderful time!
Tour guide was rude and had attitude. He had a very short temper. His name was Thin. He talked to us like we were kids.
We had a great day trip. We were in a group of about 12 people and we had a comfortable van for the day. The guide Mr Pong was great and we loved the lunch as well. Entry to the caves and the falls was well organized.
The pickup time was earlier than what had been communicated beforehand, which made me feel rushed to be ready. In the end, that rush felt unnecessary, as we then waited in the car with the driver for 10 minutes or more for the guide to arrive. The first guide only joined us until the first stop, so it wasn’t very clear where to go or what to do at the lunch venue. After lunch, the guide who accompanied us on the boat tour was condescending and spoke to the group in a way that felt a bit like we were being treated as students rather than guests. That said, the sites themselves were amazing. I’m rating this experience 4 stars mainly because of the beauty of the locations. If you want to swim, I recommend doing so at the top of the waterfalls, it’s a long walk, but absolutely worth it and much less crowded. The lunch was also excellent.
