We spent a second day with Yuka touring Miyajima island. This was a highlight of our 2 week trip to Japan. Yuka knew the exact order to see the main highlights and avoid the crowds. She took us to a great restaurant specializing in oysters which are grown in the waters nearby. Overall it was a lovely day.

Amazing Tour for Hiroshima

After our cruise stops were changed due to a typhoon, we found ourselves needing to plan what to do in Hiroshima. This tour was PERFECT! It hits the highlights of the city and still shows you so much more than I even realized was there. If you happen to get so lucky to have Minori be your tour guide, YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT!! She is the kindest and most thorough tour guide who spent the entire day being flexible and understanding when we had some of our group go back to the boat unexpectedly. She handled all the conversations in Japanese and even asked for permissions for us to skip lines and have extra room. She took us to the most AMAZING lunch place which was a local spot with DELICIOUS food!! The entire group agreed this was the best meal then entire 2 week trip. Minori was an excellent tour guide; but even more than that, she made us feel like her own family. Our day in Hiroshima was exceptional because of her. HIGHLY recommend!! And if you can request her, you are in for a REMARKABLE day. Hands down!!

Our guide, Gordon, made this experience so much more meaningful with his storytelling. He brought us back to 1945 as if we had been residents living through this horrific time. Whether on the bridge, at the dome, museum, the Peace Park, the other historic sites, he totally enriched our experience. Seeing groups of students honoring those gone and advocating for peace was wonderful. History came to life on this tour. The museum, though, is not for the faint of heart. Be prepared….

This walking tour was very informative! Our tour guide “Nisa” was excellent in explaining the history of the relationship between US and Japan. She explained the events leading to the A-bomb, the effects, the resiliency and the restoration efforts of the people in Hiroshima. If you’re visiting in June be aware of the heat. Bring water and a sun umbrella. There’s a cafe within the region to get drinks and snacks/lunch. There lots of restaurants in the area for after the tour. Loved this tour and a must do!

Fabulous tour from a local guide that went above & beyond

Mari was an outstanding guide. Not only did she give us an educational tour that benefited from her local knowledge, she included a visit to an excellent okonomiyaki restaurant for a tasty, local lunch, taught us origami, gave us a 5.5hr tour that should only have lasted 4hrs to ensure we saw all the principal sights of Hiroshima as well as guiding us back to our hotel so we didn’t get lost. She took lots of photos that she sent to us after our trip. Plus, ensured we knew exactly where we needed to be the following morning to join our next trip. Our thanks to the perfect guide. This was a very comprehensive and thorough overview of Hiroshima starting with what came before WW2, the war itself, and the aftermath as a result of the dropping of the A Bomb. Our guide Kevin provided excellent historical context to the subject matter. He is very passionate about the information he is providing. Since we ended up being a very small group ( just my wife and I ), we also had the benefit of a little more perspective on how the people have moved on since WW2, specifically concerning how the local baseball team fits in. Overall a very wonderful experience dealing with a very difficult subject.
