What are people saying about Royal Mile

Robert knows The Royal Mile, plus!
Robert was an excellent tour guide, hitting all the high points of the Royal Mile plus many more stories and anecdotes. He’s a native Edinburgher, and has a vast store of knowledge of the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour.

First Time in Edinburgh
It was a great tour! We learned a great deal of Scottish history, including details of the founding of the city. The closes off the Royal Mile hold secrets and treasures that are worth a peak. Walking where kings and queens once did always excites my soul! Be prepared for rain as you will get wet and make sure your shoes are comfortable and rainproof. Callum with Mercat Tours was very knowledgeable and excellent tour guide!

She (sorry I forgot her...
She (sorry I forgot her name, a little short) was a great storyteller. So much fun. I recently had foot surgery and walked a little slow, I told her I would catch up to not worry. But she always checked on me and managed to give me a ride to the top of the castle so I could still enjoy the tour.

Must do!
Our tour guide (Andrea?) was so much fun and informative. She really gave us so much historical information and was so engaging and full of a wealth of knowledge. It was amazing how she kept us all together in the madding crowd of Edinburgh. She was very attentive with everyone with mobility issues and technological issues. We really enjoyed our tour and really learned so much about the history of Edinburgh and how it began and evolved. Highly recommend!

Edinburgh
Street view of the historic Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland.
  • Wear sturdy walking shoes as some surfaces are uneven and sloping.

  • To avoid an uphill slog, start at Edinburgh Castle and walk downhill to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, then use public transport or a taxi to get back up.

  • The cobblestoned sections of the street can cause difficulty for some wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility devices.
