Albaicín is an old Moorish neighborhood in Granada that’s situated north of the Darro River on a hill that offers views of the Alhambra. This area is significant as it’s the city’s oldest Arab district and offers an eclectic mix of architectural and cultural influences, including churches, historic houses, palaces, and Islamic monuments.

To get to Albaicín from the Alhambra, you can either walk or travel by public transport. Walking involves a scenic 20-30 minute downhill route through Cuesta del Rey Chico. Alternatively, you take bus line C32 from Alhambra's main entrance to Albaicín, which travels on a loop.

The main attractions to see in Albaicín include the popular sunset-viewing spot of Mirador de San Nicolás, the 16th-century Church of San Salvador, and the charming old street of Carrera Del Darro. There’s also the El Bañuelo Arab baths, which date back to the 11th century, and the Mezquita Mayor de Granada mosque.

One of the best viewpoints in Albaicín is Mirador de San Nicolás, which offers a panoramic view of the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada, but it can get quite busy at sunset. For a less crowded spot, try Mirador de San Cristóbal or Mirador de la Lona.

The best time to visit Albaicín for photography is either just after sunrise or just before sunset. During this time, photographers can get stunning views of the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada mountains with a soft glow, especially if visiting one of the area’s viewpoints, such as Mirador de San Nicolás.
