We start the day in Gratallops, we will see the most spectacular vineyard fields in Catalonia. It is the region of origin of Priorat wine. The visit to one of the local wine cellars is essential. We will go to La Figuera, the best viewpoint of the Priorat, and from which to see the Pyrenees, the Sierra dels Ports, the Segre River, the Maestrazgo de Castellón and the lands of Aragon. Our guide ( Papa Bear) was amazing! Knowledgeable and quite funny! He helped us learn great deal of history and had great recommendations for food and places to see. The time in France however was only 2 hours. This is not enough to grab something to eat, visit the town or any other attraction.

We had a wonderful full-day tour of Montserrat, Girona, and the Costa Brava with our guide, Hengameh, and our driver, Augusto. It was a long day, from about 8:00 in the morning until nearly 8:00 at night, but it was very well paced and we thoroughly enjoyed all three destinations. Hengameh was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history, culture, and traditions of the areas we visited. Having previously lived and studied in Girona, she had a particularly wonderful knowledge of the city. She pointed out so many interesting details about the architecture, people, and history that we easily could have missed on our own. She was also very respectful of the local traditions, and her appreciation for the places we visited clearly came through in her explanations. We especially appreciated that she gave us a nice balance between guided explanations and time to explore on our own. She offered suggestions on what to see and even recommended a few local treats for us to try along the way, which added to the experience. Augusto was also an excellent driver—very friendly and attentive, always opening the doors for us and offering us cold water throughout the day. Overall, we were very pleased with our choice of this tour. It was a full day, but we never felt rushed and came away feeling that we had really experienced Montserrat, Girona, and the Costa Brava. We would highly recommend Hengameh, Augusto, and this tour to other travelers.

The ride up the mountain to the Monastery is spectacular but it pales to the beauty you’ll discover in and around the Basilica. There is a unique peace which emanates as you enter. You can stop and contemplate its history or attend a Catholic Mass or you can just visit while taking in the views from its magical atmosphere. The funicular to the top affords unrivaled views from the peak and after either descending on foot or returning via funicular, there are places to stop and rest, eat or enjoy the museum.

The Perfect Introduction to Catalonia

Andorra and Adrian are the BEST!

There aren’t enough words to describe this experience! Adrian was a phenomenal historian, photographer, and all around gentleman who made this whole experience enjoyable and memorable! We stopped at some of the most amazing views of both the Spanish countryside on our way in and French countryside on our way out as well as THE BEST stops, stories, picturesque views, and wonderful food in Andorra. I cannot recommend this enough and if you get the chance, ask for Adrian!! He was so kind and patient with my carsick, jet lagged child.
