Europe’s Most Unique Church

José was an excellent — friendly and knowledgeable guide to Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece — The Sagrada Famalia. We have reason to be fair judges as this was our fifth visit to this magnificent church over the span of 51 years! When we were first here in 1975, only four towers were completed and the church had no roof. It has been the gift of a lifetime to watch it grow into what is today not only the world’s tallest church, but what in our opinion is the world’s most unique and beautiful church. If you travel to Barcelona and have never visited this Basilica, it is an experience you will never regret — and never forget!

Great introduction to Gaudì's early career

Mario was an excellent guide who was able to share a vast amount of information not only about the Gaudi houses we visited, but also about Barcelona and Catalonia. Visiting these 3 houses is an excellent way to understand the arc of Gaudi's career. We took the metro between Casa Vicens and La Pedrera (Casa Milà) instead of walking since it was threatening to rain, but the distance between the last two stops was very short. We ended up running long due to some delays at La Pedrera that were out of the control of our guide. The 3 hour time allotted for this tour feels a bit aggressive given the travel time between locations and the amount to see at each one. My recommendation would be to add 30 minutes to an hour to the tour length. Regardless, this is an excellent tour and I would highly recommend it.

Must see - ask for Jana!

This is such an important place to visit in Spain. It is unlike any other place of worship - nothing dripping in gold and completely inspiring. Our guide Jana was fantastic and I strongly recommend having a guide to learn all the symbolism. Two people in our group were so overwhelmed by the experience that they were crying.

Good tour, even better guide

Really great experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable, considerate, and patient. We had several other people show up late or to the wrong place and in between taking the rest of us to the entrance he called the agency and made sure they could join our tour before we went through the entrance. He was easily able to answer even difficult questions about Gaudi, the building, and the feelings of Barcelona residents about the construction of the Sagrada Família through time. He made sure we stayed in the shade and near fans when speaking for extended periods since it was 92 degrees and made sure everyone’s health and ability was considered. After the tour we had free reign to walk about the church and its truly breathtaking. I would recommend it for anyone, especially if it’s your first time in Barcelona.

Wonderful Tour with knowledgeable guide Christel

It was a wonderful tour. Christel was our guide, and she explained everything so well. She was incredibly knowledgeable and just a lovely person overall. She encouraged questions, stayed interactive with the group, and made the experience feel personal and engaging.I had visited before without a tour, and the difference was huge — the guided experience is absolutely worth it. It did not include the Tower but she informed us how to get access to the tour for 10€. We went in the afternoon which was perfect for the lighting of the stained glass windows. There is a security check point Make sure not to bring a pocket knife (like my father 😳) but they will let you past security you just have to leave it with them in a taged bag to pick up upon leaving at Access Point A.

Ramon was an excellent guide. Kept in touch with us before the meeting so we knew exactly where and when to meet. He gave us a fantastic tour of the old town of Barcelona in a small group just 4 of us which was perfect. His knowledge was superbe as was his English. He was so obliging taking photos and also giving us recommendations on restaurants and other places to visit around Barcelona. His passion and knowledge of the Sagrada Família was extraordinary and helped us to understand the interior better for his explanations from the exterior.

Most lovely exceptional guide

The guide is exceptional. We usually do private tours through Centurion (highest level of Amex) throughout Europe, and this was by far the best tour guy I’ve ever experienced. He was heartfelt, kind, knowledgeable, funny. He extended the time for my daughter and I to view different areas that weren’t part of the normal tour. He has a beautiful soul, and I feel very fortunate that we experienced Sagrada Família with his energy.

Our tour guide overcame our torturous double hike up the hill

You need to plan a little ahead to get to the meeting spot. We followed the Apple Maps from the Viator app and it tried to take us through the park to get to the meeting place. We had to walk all the way down the hill and back up. This is not an easy walk. That part needs to be worked on to inform people. It very well could have ruined the tour. Some of us almost decided not to go while we were walking up the hill. That said our guide was great. His passion shined through. He also understood the group was tired and hot from the hike up the hill and guided us accordingly in shaded spots. Overall we enjoyed the tour. Wish the app would have guided us better towards the meeting place.
