Great tour, but a long day FYI

We were picked up in a mini van which was air conditioned and comfortable. The tour was as advertised, visiting Kukum National Park, Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle. Our guide was good and adapted to the needs of the group. The sights were all very interesting and well worth the visit. The only thing to know is that it is a very long day (14 hours) with a lot of driving, some of it on fairly bumpy roads.

The booking experience was seamless, and Benjamin runs a very strict company. My guide Emmanuel was incredible, very knowledgeable and kind and I learned so much from him during the day! He also helped me with a couple of other things through the day like exchanging currency and trying some new foods. It is clear that he is very passionate about what he is showing tourists!! The tour itself was incredible and very safe. It was a good start to my trip to hear about how Ghana gained independence and the people and experiences that led to it as it was my first full day. It was definitely 11/10 stars-so much so that I booked another tour with BigBen and Emmanuel again while I was on the existing tour, can’t wait to do more with their company in a few days!!! I 100% recommend using this company if you are visiting Ghana, and the Accra history tour was very safe and well run and comprehensive!!!

I booked this tour somewhat last minute. However, once I purchased the ticket, I was contacted within minutes by the tour company with my driver’s information. Shortly thereafter my driver contacted me to confirm the pick- up time and place. He also provided a description of his vehicle. My driver and tour guide was Samuel. He presented me with the choice of three places to visit among the four choices available. Samuel was very knowledgeable about his country’s history, culture, and current political events. It had rained for hours the day before my tour and there were floods everywhere. However, Samuel’s demeanor and humor about the situation made a positive impact on what could have been a very stressful experience. Throughout the drive from Accra to the sites, we spent time conversing while Samuel pointed out portions of the landscape and shared information about the places we passed. I truly enjoyed the places I visited: Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle, and Kakum National Park. I highly recommend this company for your future tour experiences whether you are exploring Accra or heading out to Cape Coast. If you are luck you will meet Samuel and fall in love with Ghana as I did.

Cape Coast Guided Tour with a Kind and Engaging Host

The Cape Coast guided tour was a meaningful and memorable experience, made even better by Mensah’s (tour host) kindness, patience, and willingness to answer questions. The site tours at Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle, and Kakum Park were rich, informative, and thoughtfully paced, offering important historical and cultural context that deepened the experience of visiting Cape Coast. Tips for future travelers: The ride to Cape Coast is quite long (4-5 hours depending on traffic & road conditions). When we traveled, there was ongoing road construction along parts of the route which made the ride very bumpy at times. I highly recommend bringing a small pillow for comfort, snacks and water, medication if you’re prone to motion sickness, and—most importantly—patience. The journey is well worth it, but being prepared will make it much more enjoyable. Overall, this was an excellent tour led by a gracious and personable host. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the highlights of Cape Coast.
