This was one of the worst excursions I have ever been on. The trip started off in a disaster. There was no semblance of order in the boarding of the boat. People shoved their way in to get to the top of the boat so they could have the best seats. Then it was off to Stromboli.
The island was practically abandoned. Four hours to do absolutely nothing. There was only one street with any activity, and the rest of the place was a ghost town.
Boarding the boat at the island was even more of a disaster as they were no queues, more than one boat was boarding at the same time, and people didn’t care one way or another if they cut in front of the line.
The only exciting part of the trip was the last 15 minutes when we saw a bit of volcanic activity.
Of anything, the trip should have been more organized from start to end, with less time on the island due to the lack of any culture or interesting elements from the local shops, restaurants, or attractions. Nobody was there! It was a huge waste of money and time. While I can’t go back in time and reclaim that day, I want my money back.
You start by waiting in line to get on the boat in the scorching heat and we got lucky to get seats.
You arrive in Stromboli (the island deserves 10 stars), you stay there on the black sand beach which is amazing.
On the journey back, people behaving like animals and not letting free seats stay free so we had to walk around the boat like hobos with no where to sit.
The boat also stays sooooo far from Sciara del Fuoco.
We had a wonderful boat trip from Tropea to Stromboli. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the overall experience was fantastic. The views were breathtaking, and the trip was definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Calabria.
The only aspect that could be improved was the organization during embarkation for the return journey. Passengers were gathered in a very crowded area at the port, and some people pushed ahead to secure better seats on the boat. A more orderly boarding process would make the experience even better.
Overall, a great excursion that I would happily recommend.
This was a great day. Plenty of room on the boat and I found the instructions clear. There was a rush to get on to the boat at both Tropea and Stromboli but there were plenty of seats and they did a great job at turning the boat so everyone could view the eruptions. There is not so much to do on Stromboli for the full 4 hours but I took a book and enjoyed reading with a granita and beautiful views.
Schlechte Informationen, sehr spärlich und falsche Zeitangabe…Mittags 12.00 anstelle 11.00…nur durch Zufall konnten wir die Reise doch noch antreten…Tagesprogramm fehlte gänzlich. 👎👎👎
