Previously went to Lubyana and Lake Bled. These were more interesting. The cave tour was well-managed and the cave itself was awe-inspiring. The castle was an interesting step back in time. The radio phone included allowed self-paced tour without rushing or standing around. Driver was 5-star. Limited English but I’m trying to practice my Italian so we got along famously. I was able to sit up front which I very much appreciated, since I get carsick. Traffic was light and we had a bit of extra time so he took us on more scenic roads and explained the people, animals and culture a bit. He was knowledgeable to get us into the venues without long lines, and immediately available when we were ready to leave. We arrived back at the hotel on time. He’s also a safe and efficient driver.

Excursion in Trieste

We loved the caves not as much the castle. HOWEVER- we expected ( as did others) a group of about 20 and it was over 50!! Plus the tour guide basically opened the doors handed us tickets and that was it! Hard to find him or even know who group was! Although we loved the caves. We were VERY disappointed with the organization of this excursion!!! We have done others through Viatour that have been run very professionally but this definitely not!

A great 5 hours in Slovenia

Erie our guide was knowledgable, fun & full of energy. He made sure we saw the views and sites along the way. Once at our two destinations he made sure we all new where to meet after each tour. The tours were great and very interesting

Very scenic and breathing taking day

The cave is very large and breathtaking. The castle is built on a cliff/cave and also very scenic. Dean, the driver, was very nice, punctual and informative. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because the tour operator never wrote in any correspondence that we needed to bring thick jackets as it’s only 10degrees Celsius in the cave where we spent 1.5h. Dean insisted that we rent jackets for 6euros per person…. Glad that we did.

Wonderful Experience

Ernie was entertaining and gave us some history of the region. Our group enjoyed the experience! The cave is a work of art by nature and the castle is a work of art by human. The castle has a lot of uneven stairs and can give you some cardio, BUT very well worth the effort! The views of the surrounding area are gorgeous and the drive to the castle through the countryside gives you a taste of rural Slovenia. The tour was just a group from our cruise ship and consisted of 50 people on our bus. There is a bit of discrepancy on Viator about it being a small group (we did NOT see what the issue was for some people). Our group as a whole kept up and we were on time for everything. The bus was comfortable. Ernie also gave recommendations for local food and drink (which we tried and enjoyed)

Beautiful, fascinating cave and castle exploration

Beautiful cave and castle. Cave was fantastic. Train ride in cave and then 1 hour walk before return train ride back to entrance. Difficult to hear guide in cave, but views were spectacular. Wear warm clothing as 50 degrees F underground. Then 20 minute bus to castle where we had audio tour at our own pace, not private tour. Lots of steps in castle but well worth it. Our host, Ernie was interesting and informative. We were on the tour with 100 people in cave with buses of 50. We signed up for private tour with max 15 people. Not sure how about this mix-up but others were also affected.

Great trip to two fascinating locations. The cave was more than I ever expected - unimaginably grand. Was not originally expecting much from the cave castle, but it turned out to be very, very interesting and am glad it was part of the tour. Drive through Slovenia just beautiful. Guides were great and very informative, as well as organized. Bus extremely comfortable.
