The Blue City: A day out of Tangier

We booked a private tour mid week. Our driver picked us up at the time & place agreed: no much chatting throughout the day: maybe the language was a challenge. We arrived in the city & were met by our local guide Abdul. He was very knowledgeable & seemed to keep us away from the main tourist crowd. Plenty if time to take it all in including how/why some of the buildings got painted in the famous ‘blueish’ colour. Seeing the water supply tumbling down the mountain & through the city was great. We did go up and down stairs, as the coloured buildings sit on the side of a large hill. Our lunch at a local Riad at our cost was magnificent: really nice & great value. Cash is in king in Morocco. Our driver picked us up and after a couple of hours driving delivered us back to our starting point: really good. We rated this 4 out of 5: the tour delivered on what was advertised online. Would we recommend this to our fellow travellers? Yes, if you are determined to go there. Would we go again to the Blue City & should we have stayed overnight. That’s an easy No. We love authentic Moroccan attractions & therefore we feel the place itself was clearly a tourist Mecca maintained and painted to suite. We hope this helps you decide.
