Kayak and snorkel through Cas Kay and the other small islands in St. Thomas' Mangrove Lagoon on this half-day tour. Take an easy hike on the cay and learn about the booming population of local hermit crabs, get views over sandy bluffs, and watch the waves crashing against the shore. - At Virgin Islands Ecotours you will find a gift shop, restroom facilities, dressing rooms and lockers for your valuables.
- The hike is 8 minutes in each direction on an uneven, level sandy trail mixed with coral rubble
- Service animals allowed
- Please bring a bathing suit and towel, shoes that can get wet, and sun protection including sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, etc.

John was a great guide and very knowledgeable for the tour. This was pretty informative including some details about fauna and flora as well as some history. The area to snorkel was great and saw schools of huge Tarpon I believe. Plus a Stingray and other sea life. I would highly recommend this excursion.

Bring a waterproof camera... The guide takes pictures as well and you can purchase them after. Water shoes are sufficient. The wild life is incredible. Most we've seen after a week between the islands. Swish is an excellent guide!

Wonderful experience! Kayak, hiking and snorkeling. Saw all kids fish and leaned some much!!! Swish was our tour guide FANTASTIC! So glad we choose to do one!

We had a great time. Keithlyn was funny and knowledgeable. He knew a lot about the Mangroves and was able to point out a lot of species of fish and wildlife. We were able to see starfish and sea urchins. It was a great time.

10/10 experience. A must do!!! Great all day activity. Snorkeling was amazing. The beach hike was also a great activity, especially being shown all the creatures the island has to offer. Highly recommend this excursion. 5 stars!!!!

The tour guide was friendly, but the experience overall was very disappointing. A large portion of the time was spent on a short gravel path (“hike”) where the guide went into lengthy REPETITIVE explanations about hermit crabs and a poisonous tree. While initially interesting, the same points were repeated multiple times (same sentence at least 7 times), which made that part feel drawn out and not engaging.
Because so much time was spent there, we had very limited time to snorkel. Unfortunately, the snorkeling itself was underwhelming—we saw no turtles and only a 2-3 colorful fish, with most of the area covered in seaweed. Several people in the group seemed disappointed by the lack of marine life. When this was mentioned, the explanation given was that the fish had “been eaten recently,” which didn’t feel very reassuring.
Overall, while the guide was personable, the tour felt poorly paced and did not deliver on the snorkeling experience we were hoping for.

The Cas Cay Kayak, Hike & Snorkel Adventure is designed as an eco-tour that combines kayaking through the mangroves, an interpretive nature walk, and snorkeling while learning about the unique plants, wildlife, and ecology of the U.S. Virgin Islands. We appreciate your comments about the pacing and will share them with our guide team.
We also wanted to clarify that the sea turtles featured on our website are most commonly seen while kayaking through the Mangrove Lagoon, where they graze on the shallow seagrass beds beneath our kayaks. The protected edges of the lagoon are an important juvenile marine habitat, where tiny fish, crabs, shrimp, and many other young sea creatures shelter among the mangrove roots. This unique ecosystem is one of the reasons the lagoon is so special. The snorkeling portion of the tour explores a different habitat along the shoreline, where sightings vary from day to day because all marine life is completely wild.

Our guide, Swish, was fantastic. He went above and beyond to give us a great experience and made it a wonderful trip. He was very knowledgeable of the wildlife and shared so many sea creatures with my kids and family.
There was a lack of organization in getting started and getting transportation back to the cruise ship. Thankfully, we had additional time built in. If this were better, I would have rated it the best possible, all thanks to our guide!

Transportation was not included from the ship and it was all the way across the island. Taxi was going to be $80 more, so we did not go. It’s a shame because we lived it the first time. That just made the cost too high.

Great experience, would do it again. I’m afraid of the water because I can’t swim but everything non swimmer friendly.

The guide we had was the best. He was dedicated to what he does. Watched over everyone in the group with consideration. The facility was more minimalistic than expected, but definitely adequate for what they do. We enjoyed the kayaking, being outdoors. The snorkeling didn’t provide a great deal to see, but that isn’t the facilities fault. The guide found barracuda, and conch shells to show everyone. Group was great.

Consists of kayaking to Cas Cay, hiking, and snorkeling. Very interesting to see more of the island… but time management could have been better.
We waited an hour after our tour was supposed to depart for another couple who had trouble with their taxi. Even though we were an active group with only 4 people, we did everything so slowly and then didn’t have enough time for a decent snorkel. The tour was supposed to be 3 hours… due to the delayed start, we were on site over an hour before we left. The kayaking and hiking took some time… and we only had 10-15 minutes to snorkel. It was a bummer.

Truly a fantastic time! If you like a bit of exercise then this is for you. If your cruise is docked here and you don’t want to pay for their exorbitant price (which is almost double) then this if for you. Our guide, Justin, was very knowledgeable and kind. He let us adventure to our hearts desire and brought us up close and personal to the history and life of this place.

Perfect afternoon activity! Guide was extremely informative about the cay and its surroundings. Kayaking was great, the hermit crabs were a huge unexpected bonus, and snorkeling was fun, but prob not the best snorkeling you’ll do on the island. But as a complimentary activity, it worked well. Price is also good considering the range of activities all on one tour.

Kayak tour was wonderful easy paddle through mangroves. Our guide gave us a lot of history of the plants and animals. On the island the hermit crabs were a sight to see! The world’s deadliest tree and then the blowhole was amazing, snorkeling was fun but it was shorter than I would have hoped for. Nice paddle back was a great way to end a fantastic day on the water. Our guide was nice, professional and super friendly. Definitely a must do when you’re on St. Thomas and want to do something mellower and a little adventurous.

Amazing experience! Swish and Corrine were great guides. We also got lucky because it pretty much was a private tour. Swish was full of humor and fun facts about the islands and animals we saw on our tour. Beautiful snorkeling. Highly recommend!

I booked this tour based on the reviews and we were very disappointed. The tour was 90% kayaking. The snorkeling was very bad in murky waters. It was not organized. The employees at checkin were rude. The description says they provide snacks. Snacks included a miniature snickers or kit kat bar. We only had one day in St. Thomas and we were very disappointed by this tour and the company.

Kayaking was fun. Not much to see snorkeling. Organizers should recommend wearing shoes for the trail walk. It would have been treacherous without shoes. photo op at end of trail walk was beautiful. Luckily our guide had his camera so he took pictures and sent them to those of us who requested it.

We got to the excursion late because of our cruise ship and they were accommodating for that, but because we were late, we didn’t get scuba gear or anything. Our guide kaz was very condescending to everyone and we didn’t care for him at all. He didn’t recognize that there were older people that couldn’t go as fast.

We arrived 30 minutes late due to a taxi issue but they provided us with a guide and continued our excursion. How very gracious of them. “Swish” our guide was excellent and very informative. We have a new understanding and regard for the mangroves. Kayaking was great fun and the snorkeling was some of the best we’ve experienced on this type of excursion.
