    Fantastic but tough hike

    Joel_G, Feb 2026
Arduous hike through real jungle up a very steep and rough trail of boulders and roots. Not for the faint of heart. If you’re over 40 you need to be very fit. Worth the effort. Unforgettable.

    Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for your review. Indeed, a hard but doable and worthwhile hike.

    Great Excursion!!

    Ken_H, Feb 2026
It is a very difficult hike. Be prepared to climb over branches and logs and go up and down steep inclines sometimes assisted by a rope. Very well organized, they sent updates proactively on WhatsApp. Very friendly.

    Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thanks for the review! We’re glad you enjoyed the organization and friendly team—and yes, it’s definitely a challenging hike. Hope to see you again!

Thank you for taking on the highest peak in St Kitts, Mount Liamuiga volcano hike with us. Indeed we deliver a service that hits the 5 stars. Good job on finishing less than the 6 hours max. The hike is average 4.5hrs and can even be done less with good fitness.

We like a challenge and to keep moving during our vacations. The hike to the volcano was well worth the effort rewarding us with beautiful views and the opportunity to enjoy lush greenery in Saint Kitts. Our guide was both friendly and knowledgeable. He was encouraging on the challenging portions of the trail. He also was good at keeping check with all of the hikers and their abilities, adjusting rest stops so everyone enjoyed the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the hike. This is a challenging activity plan to get dirty, dress appropriately hiking boots preferred. Bring water and snacks. This is not a catamaran tour with cocktails. We loved our day and appreciated the change of pace!

Thank you for choosing us as your guide for the Mount Liamuiga hike here in St. Kitts. This eco-tour is truly a great alternative to just spending the day at the beach—and if you wish, you can even head to the beach afterward, depending on your pace. We are committed to providing top-notch service and clear communication every step of the way. Thank you once again for trusting us with your adventure!

BEWARE: the hike is VERY strenuous and takes all day!!

    Elizabeth_K, Jan 2026
BEWARE: the hike is VERY strenuous and takes ALL DAY - an hourlong bus ride to get to the trail (due to all the cruise ship traffic), AT LEAST 2.5 hours up to the top and 2+ hours back down, plus another 30 minute bus ride back to the port! The tour started at 9:45 AM and of the 16 total people in the group, 12 of us were from the same cruise ship. From the beginning, it was made known that we all needed to be back on the ship no later than 5:30 PM for a 6 PM disembarkation. My partner and I are in our mid-thirties, fairly active, and experienced hikers, so didn’t physically have any issues with the intense level of activity; however, the majority of the group was definitely not prepared for the arduous nature of the hike. This meant that my partner and I, along with a few other fit couples, were constantly stuck waiting (often in the rain) for the rest of the people to catch up, constantly worrying that we would not make it back to the cruise ship before it left port! There were 6 of us that finished the hike by 3:45 PM, which was just under 5 hours from when we started. Originally, the tour guide said that we would have to wait for the rest of the group to be transported back to the port together, which was NOT okay since they were well over an hour away from finishing their hike! Fortunately, we were able to communicate with the tour operator via a group WhatsApp chat that was started before the tour began, and they arranged for the 6 of us to be driven back right away, then made a second trip for the remainder of the group. At no point during the hike did the tour guides say to the group they had to turn around or risk not getting back on time. While my partner and I were back onboard the cruise ship by 4:15 PM, the second group did not get back until 5:55 PM! Their only saving grace was that the ship-sponsored excursion that was on the same hike was also late getting back, for what we later found out to be the same reason as ours. All in all, I found the hike to be invigorating and the view at the top was absolutely stunning! The main tour guide, DJ, was friendly and very helpful in navigating the terrain - carefully explaining where to place your feet/knees/butt and what to grab on to for leverage at every difficult passage. However, I seemed to be the ONLY one on the tour (including my partner) that was prepared for the intensity of the excursion.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you for choosing us to guide you to the highest peak on the island. We truly appreciate your recognition of the natural beauty of the hike, the stunning summit views, and the professionalism of DJae (Guide) and the guiding team in safely navigating what is, by nature, a very demanding trail. You are absolutely correct that Mount Liamuiga is a very strenuous, full-day hike. This is something we clearly state on all booking platforms, including the intensity level, estimated hiking time, and the reality that group hikes move at the pace of the slowest participants. Group tours, by definition, require patience and cooperation, and they are fundamentally different from private hikes where pace and timing can be fully customized. Regarding timing and cruise logistics: cruise ship arrivals are occasionally delayed due to port traffic, immigration clearance, and congestion from multiple ships docking simultaneously. These factors can compress the available return window despite careful planning. Even so, we take cruise schedules extremely seriously. In our years of operation, we have never missed a ship departure, nor have we ever ran that close to cut off time. We have had bigger groups since and our guide to guest ratio kept it well. (All sub-groups returned to port together). During this particular hike, guides repeatedly communicated time checks to the group, explained how tight the schedule was becoming, and discussed pace adjustments and turnaround considerations with participants. While you may not have personally heard every one of these conversations, they did take place across the sub-groups on the trail. When it became clear that a portion of the group had completed the hike significantly earlier, we made an exceptional logistical decision to split transportation and immediately return the first group to the port. This is not standard practice on group hikes, but we did so specifically to reduce stress for guests who were concerned about ship departure times. I personally handled the second transport to ensure the remaining guests were safely returned. It is also important to clarify that the second group arrived back at the port shortly before the ship-sponsored excursion group and cleared immigration in time to reboard. While it was close, all guests made it back successfully. Unfortunately, accommodating one group early led to dissatisfaction and refund demands from others who expected everyone to return together—an outcome that highlights the inherent challenges of group hiking logistics. We genuinely appreciate your acknowledgment that the hike itself was invigorating, that the guiding was professional and attentive, and that the experience matched the expectations of a challenging volcanic ascent. We also commend you and your partner for being well-prepared, fit, and experienced hikers—qualities that absolutely enhance enjoyment of this trail. Your feedback reinforces why we strongly encourage guests to carefully assess the intensity rating, physical demands, and group format before booking. Mount Liamuiga is not suitable for everyone, and preparedness plays a major role in how the experience is perceived. Thank you again for hiking with us and for recognizing the efforts of our guides and operations team working behind the scenes. Should you return to St. Kitts in the future, we would be delighted to host you on a private hike or another adventure better suited to your pace and experience level. Kind regards, Janeel

    Rewarding and Challenging Hike

    Jennifer_K, Jan 2026
Rewarding experience once you reach the top of the peak and finish the hike in it's entirety. However, the disclaimers of this being a challenging hike are not lying and it should be considered if you plan on booking this experience. The incline up the hill is not easy and it's hard on your breathing especially in very hot weather. Since the hike is divided by 8 points, it becomes easier at 5-6 so make sure you hydrate and wear hiking shoes because the mud makes this challenging

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you for your review of the Mount Liamuiga Volcano hike. We appreciate your honest feedback. You’re right — the hike is challenging, with steep inclines, humid at first, and muddy sections, so good hiking shoes and proper hydration are essential. We’re glad you found the climb rewarding in the end, and your tips will be helpful for future hikers planning this adventure in St. Kitts. JB Taxi & Excursions: Nature Connoisseur #HikeStKitts

    Well worth the challenge

This was an amazing experience. Our guides were awesome and the view at the top spectacular. That said it is a physically challenging hike where you have to climb roots and rocks.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you for your review. We’re glad you had an amazing experience and enjoyed the spectacular views at the top of Mount Liamuiga Volcano! You’re absolutely right — the hike is physically challenging with roots and rocks to climb, but that makes reaching the summit even more rewarding. Our tour to the crater...

    James_M, Aug 2025
Our tour to the crater rim of Mt. Liamuiga was a great experience. JB Taxi & Excursions guides Djae and Elly did a good job pushing my family to exceed our physical limits and complete the climb. They gave both support and encouragement in just the right amount whenever it was needed. They even gave some help to unguided hikers who were not traveling with us. They provided walking sticks for our use which were very helpful. Djae and Elly were informative regarding wildlife and helped us spot some African green (vervet) monkeys in the treetops. They engaged in conversation to distract us from the rigors of the climb, including recommendations for activities on Nevis. Visibility from the top of the mountain was less than we hoped because of cloudy conditions but the fulfillment of accomplishing our goal still made the trip satisfying.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for your wonderful review of the Mt. Liamuiga crater excursion hike with JB Taxi & Excursions! We’re thrilled Djae and Elly could guide your family to conquer this challenging St. Kitts volcano climb, share wildlife sightings like African green monkeys, and make the journey safe, encouraging, and unforgettable.

This “adventure” was something that tested my limits physically in every single way: let’s not get it twisted, it was rough!!! I know I took a few extra breaks on the way up then they planned but the view at the top was worth it all. I also felt amazing abt myself after we were done too. Sore the next day but an awesome workout, using muscles I don’t use that way in the gym!!!

    Response from Host, Apr 2025

We love hearing this! Pushing your limits is no small feat, and we’re proud of you for powering through—even with those well-earned breaks! That view always feels sweeter after the climb. Soreness means progress, and you crushed it! Take some time to nurse your body, meanwhile, we’ll be ready for your next adventure!

    Do it!

    Great Hike With Great Guides!

    Sheri_B, Mar 2025
Great experience! Janeel picked us up at the port and got us back in plenty of time to reboard the ship. We are not extreme hikers, so this was a challenge - honestly, one of the hardest things we have ever done. As we reached each of the stops, it was a sense of accomplishment. The view at the top was absolutely amazing!!! Coming back down was just as challenging. Our guides, Janeel and his nephew Elijah, were so encouraging and offered guidance and tips as we moved through the hike. We would not have made it without these great guides! I was ready to give up before the first stop, but Janeel encouraged me to keep going. When I stopped at the bottom of one of the climbs, he told me not to think about, just keep moving. I needed that. Before the hike, Janeel sends a list of items to bring along. Be sure to listen to him - he knows what he is talking about. There is a purpose for every item on the list. If we visit St. Kitts again, we will go with JB Taxi & Excursions for sure.

    Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience! Your determination to reach the top was inspiring. Elijah and I were honored to guide you, and I appreciate your feedback on the prep list. Hope to welcome you back to St. Kitts soon! Janeel

    Very challenging course...

    Kihyuk_K, Mar 2025
Very challenging course for person who don’t exercise regularly. 3 guides help me a lot to go up. I almost gave up on second stop but i could go up more by guide, Sunshine. Everyone is so kind and willing to help. My 7yr boy and 9yr daughter completed hiking.

    Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad the guides, especially Sunshine, were there to help you along the way. Congratulations to you and your kids for completing the hike!

Janeel and a beautiful volcano makes for a wonderful experience.

    Mark_M, Feb 2025
Janeel is a top-notch trail guide and I would highly recommend this hike for the incredibly ambitious hiker. It is NOT an easy hike but with Janeel's encouragement and support we were able to make it all the way to the top. The day we went it started out raining but weather got better as the day went. STRONGLY suggest appropriate hiking boots. It was muddy and quite slippery--especially at the bottom (see picture of my pants afterwards. The round trip took about 7 hours and we were definitely exhausted the next day with legs stiff from lactic acid. Again, Janeel is THE BEST and highly recommend

    Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled you enjoyed the challenge and that Janeel's support helped you reach the summit. Great tip on the boots—muddy trails are no joke! Hope your legs are recovering well. Come hike with us again soon!

One of the best experiences in my life!

    Victoria_I, Feb 2025
This hike was the best part of my trip To St. Kitts because it was the most challenging mountain climb that I’ve ever done in my life. I’m not an experienced hiker but decided to push my limits. I’m glad I did it but would not recommend it to amateurs or people with some health conditions as it requires athleticism and endurance. My tour guy was amazing. Thanks to him and my stubbornness (I couldn’t allow myself to give up) I was able to make it to the top. The views are spectacular! No regrets at all! Im so glad I decided to challenge myself and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wished to do the same :)

    Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the challenge and breathtaking views. We’ll share your kind words with your guide. Hope to see you for another adventure! 🌿🏔️😊

    Great experience!...

    Rafael_L, Jan 2025
Great experience! Beautiful view at the top. It is surreal! Janeel provided transport, smooth and efficient, and DeeJay was the best of the best. (He was our guide that took us to the top.) DeeJay provided some information about the Volcano and St. Kitts while hiking, and was very patient offering numerous rest stops, and much encouragement which was very needed lol. The hike is strenuous and you WILL feel it! But it is completely worth it. Definitely a memory for a lifetime. 10/10 BOOK IT!!!

    Response from Host, Jan 2025

Amazing experience. I am an avid/intermediate hiker- as this was a challenge, you can do it! If you are not active, not in good physical/cardio vascular shape, then skip this excursion. Make sure you pack very light but you definitely need to bring a change of shoes. Hiking shoes will get wet and very muddy. Plan accordingly.

    Response from Host, Jan 2025

Thanks for your review! Glad you enjoyed the challenge and shared great tips. 🏔️

    A Must for Hikers!

    April_M, Dec 2024
This excursion was AMAZING! Despite not making it up to the tippy top because I sprained my ankle, they made the most of the adventure. Please do not underestimate the difficulty of this hike and proper shoes is a must. It can be very muddy and slippery but you are instructed how to step/walk/hike in some of challenging areas. If you are traveling via cruise be sure to communicate with Jennel your arrival and departure time, so times could be adjusted if possible to make the most of your hike! Other than that, we were offered refreshments and snacks that came handy. The guides are very knowledgeable about the forest which enhanced the experience. This is a must if you are an adventurous person looking for a challenge and a great reward once you get up to the top!

    Response from Host, Dec 2024

I look forward to taking you guys to the top next time you visit. Meanwhile take care of your ankle. Thanks for visiting. Janeel

Thrilling hike and great view of the lake in the caldera

    Brandon_M, Nov 2024
Amazing tour guides, Janeel and DJ. They made the hike so much more enjoyable with their sense of humor, amazing commentary, and their knowledge and care for the trail. They even stopped to pick up litter that other groups had left behind. They truly care about this excursion and guarantee a pleasurable climb to the summit of the West Indies

    Response from Host, Nov 2024

Thanks. To add to this: Amazing group. We love nature.

This is not a walk in the park!

    Melissa_Y, Oct 2024
This is an unforgettable experience. Amazing views from the top. Do not attempt unless you a very fit person. You will deal with heat, humidity, altitude, slippery roots, rocks, mud and very steep inclines. Just as difficult to descend as to climb. Thanks to the indomitable Jaquan who got me to the top and half carried me back down. It would not have been possible without him! It was a once in a lifetime experience. A shout out to the wonderfully kind Utah folks I climbed with who engineered my glasses, carried everything for me, sacrificed a shoulder to support me on the way down and who along with Jaquan and Janeel cheered me on to the top and encouraged me every step of the way to the bottom.

    Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank you for your feedback. It was an honour.

An amazing hike with the best tour guides

    Sara_R, Jun 2024
My nine year old daughter and I did this hike with Djae and Elly, and it was an awesome experience! We were on a cruise and it was easy to locate our tour guides from the port with the provided instructions. The drive out gave a great overview of the island and what to expect on the hike. Once we arrived, we set out with our experienced guides who let us know how many stops there would be and that we would move at our own pace up the volcano. The hike was definitely a challenging one, but our guides were very encouraging and helpful along the way. I would definitely only recommend this tour for people who are in relatively good shape. I workout daily and still felt challenged. Also, I would not recommend any younger than the nine year old I had with me. I would recommend these tour guides all day everyday though. They were so kind and made this an incredible experience we will never forget.

    Response from Host, Jun 2024

Lovely. Thank you for your feedback. Would you believe our youngest guest was 7yrs and the oldest 75yrs?.

Best Part of my trip to St Kitts

    Nikole_T, May 2024
This was the best part of my trip to St. Kitts! I booked the hike with my mom and teenager. I will start by saying our tour guides Djae and Quan were absolutely the best. They arrived on time, are knowledgeable about their country’s history and are very patient. The hike is NOT for amateurs or sedentary people. This is a hike that requires athleticism and endurance. You will be required to go uphill a lot. You will climb steep hills and rocks. The same way you go up, you come back down. My mother and teenager were not able to finish the hike after the 1st checkpoint (about 30-40 mins after starting). Djae was patient with them and took them back to the starting point. I pushed through and made it to the top with the help of my new buddy Quan. He encouraged me to keep going and to take breaks. Once we reached the top, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The views are amazing. Even though this hike is challenging, it is absolutely worth it. It’s is worth it not only for the amazing view of Mt. Liamuiga, but for bragging rights lol. I would definitely do it again.

    Response from Host, May 2024

Hi Nikole and Family. Thank you for choosing us. I am pleased that you enjoyed the hike nonetheless. I look forward to your return. Thanks to your mom and child also, we will/can offer easier walks in the future.

    Extra Ordinary Adventure

    Nick_F, May 2024
TLDR; Challenging mountain climb for the adventurous with spectacular views. This may be a long one, but this is not your average hike. Many other reviews mention this is a strenuous hike. It's not. It's a non-equipment assisted moderate mountain climbing experience. My mind did not comprehend that a trail like this would be offered as a run of the mill excursion. This is a unique experience for the willing and the capable. I'm 46 male in moderate shape. I'm a desk jockey who gets out to do things on the weekend but no set gym routine. I jumped on the struggle bus early on the hike and rode it up and back down. Janeel and Djae kept an eye on me and motivated me all the way through. My 46 y/o wife who exercises regularly had a much easier time and made it through like a champ. Other things I did wrong. Don't get fancy. Less is more on this hike. You need water and maybe a couple orange slices. Don't need bug spray. There were no issues with bugs. Don't need sunscreen. You're 90%in the shade. Light breathable clothing and sturdy shoes is all you need. Water and juice was provided but I would recommend bringing your own. Perfect time for a camelback. Stretch before you hit the trail because the pace starts off quick. Overall it was a unique wonderful tour that I have not found the equal to anywhere in our travels. Pickup from the port was simple and easy. Our guides were friendly, helpful, and in my case motivating. Janeel even made sure to grab some mangoes on the way back to the ship since I had told him it's been awhile since I've had a good one. If you want a challenge and a chance to see something beyond the ordinary this is it. This is what you have to do in St. Kitts with Janeel.

    Response from Host, May 2024

Hey Fosters; wow, thank you for this in-depth review. haha @ TLDR... I read. It was a pleasure having you all and playing a part of your vacation.

    Challenging but Worthwhile Hike

    Bjorn_C, May 2024
Our tour guides Djae and Jamella allocated six stops for the hike up the volcano, which was just about right for this rather challenging and demanding hike. They were very supportive and spread a lot of positive energy around them as they guided us up and down the volcano. It was tough at times - I won’t deny it - but definitely worthwhile!

    Response from Host, May 2024

Thank you for allowing us to hike and explore our volcano with you.

A Challenge but well Worth the Effort!

Wow, what a fantastic experience! Like everyone says this hike is not for the faint of heart. Just because you might walk and do a stair master everyday does not mean the difficulty level of this hike will be reduced. It is strenuous. . .both ways. But if you make it to the top you will be rewarded with such beauty as you’ve never imagined. Don’t expect to stay a lengthy amount of time at the top as it’s important to descend in timely fashion. Expect 2.5 hrs going up and 3 coming down. That’s why guides push ahead. Djae was a patient and knowledgeable guide and extremely accommodating when he sensed we might need an extra minute of rest. We hit the jackpot with this guide. Kudos to Janeel and Djae!
