This was so challenging but the view was so worth it! My husband and I did this on our honeymoon and it was by far the best activity we did! Our tour guide was so nice and helpful and educated us along the way. We are so glad we booked this hike!

Thank you for your review. It was our pleasure to be your guide.

Arduous hike through real jungle up a very steep and rough trail of boulders and roots. Not for the faint of heart. If you’re over 40 you need to be very fit. Worth the effort. Unforgettable.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you for your review. Indeed, a hard but doable and worthwhile hike.

It is a very difficult hike. Be prepared to climb over branches and logs and go up and down steep inclines sometimes assisted by a rope. Very well organized, they sent updates proactively on WhatsApp. Very friendly.

Thanks for the review! We’re glad you enjoyed the organization and friendly team—and yes, it’s definitely a challenging hike. Hope to see you again!

Don’t do this hike if it’s your first time hiking. Very fun and challenging rainforest hike. Come prepared

Haha. We have had a few first-timers with different experiences; however, it is indeed a very challenging hike. However, it is definitely doable.
I must commend you all for your pace. 3h:10m round trip wow.
Thanks for the review.

The tour guides were great and got us through faster than 6 hours which was great.
It was a challenge but so rewarding
The 5 Star reviews are valid for this group.

Thank you for taking on the highest peak in St Kitts, Mount Liamuiga volcano hike with us.
Indeed we deliver a service that hits the 5 stars. Good job on finishing less than the 6 hours max. The hike is average 4.5hrs and can even be done less with good fitness.

We like a challenge and to keep moving during our vacations. The hike to the volcano was well worth the effort rewarding us with beautiful views and the opportunity to enjoy lush greenery in Saint Kitts. Our guide was both friendly and knowledgeable. He was encouraging on the challenging portions of the trail. He also was good at keeping check with all of the hikers and their abilities, adjusting rest stops so everyone enjoyed the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the hike. This is a challenging activity plan to get dirty, dress appropriately hiking boots preferred. Bring water and snacks. This is not a catamaran tour with cocktails. We loved our day and appreciated the change of pace!

It's a challenge and it's strenuous, but there's a satisfaction in meeting the challenge. Plus, the view of the crater was amazingly beautiful.

Indeed, a challenging hike, Mount Liamugia volcano is no joke. But is definately an amazing experience.

Such a beautiful hike in St. Kitts. The weather was overcast so this experience was so much better than just heading to the beach. Our guide was wonderful. Pick-up and communication was very smooth. Book your hike with them!!

This eco-tour is truly a great alternative to just spending the day at the beach—and if you wish, you can even head to the beach afterward, depending on your pace. We are committed to providing top-notch service and clear communication every step of the way. Thank you once again for trusting us with your adventure!

BEWARE: the hike is VERY strenuous and takes ALL DAY - an hourlong bus ride to get to the trail (due to all the cruise ship traffic), AT LEAST 2.5 hours up to the top and 2+ hours back down, plus another 30 minute bus ride back to the port! The tour started at 9:45 AM and of the 16 total people in the group, 12 of us were from the same cruise ship. From the beginning, it was made known that we all needed to be back on the ship no later than 5:30 PM for a 6 PM disembarkation.
My partner and I are in our mid-thirties, fairly active, and experienced hikers, so didn’t physically have any issues with the intense level of activity; however, the majority of the group was definitely not prepared for the arduous nature of the hike. This meant that my partner and I, along with a few other fit couples, were constantly stuck waiting (often in the rain) for the rest of the people to catch up, constantly worrying that we would not make it back to the cruise ship before it left port!
There were 6 of us that finished the hike by 3:45 PM, which was just under 5 hours from when we started. Originally, the tour guide said that we would have to wait for the rest of the group to be transported back to the port together, which was NOT okay since they were well over an hour away from finishing their hike! Fortunately, we were able to communicate with the tour operator via a group WhatsApp chat that was started before the tour began, and they arranged for the 6 of us to be driven back right away, then made a second trip for the remainder of the group.
At no point during the hike did the tour guides say to the group they had to turn around or risk not getting back on time. While my partner and I were back onboard the cruise ship by 4:15 PM, the second group did not get back until 5:55 PM! Their only saving grace was that the ship-sponsored excursion that was on the same hike was also late getting back, for what we later found out to be the same reason as ours.
All in all, I found the hike to be invigorating and the view at the top was absolutely stunning! The main tour guide, DJ, was friendly and very helpful in navigating the terrain - carefully explaining where to place your feet/knees/butt and what to grab on to for leverage at every difficult passage. However, I seemed to be the ONLY one on the tour (including my partner) that was prepared for the intensity of the excursion.

Thank you for choosing us to guide you to the highest peak on the island. We truly appreciate your recognition of the natural beauty of the hike, the stunning summit views, and the professionalism of DJae (Guide) and the guiding team in safely navigating what is, by nature, a very demanding trail.
You are absolutely correct that Mount Liamuiga is a very strenuous, full-day hike. This is something we clearly state on all booking platforms, including the intensity level, estimated hiking time, and the reality that group hikes move at the pace of the slowest participants. Group tours, by definition, require patience and cooperation, and they are fundamentally different from private hikes where pace and timing can be fully customized.
Regarding timing and cruise logistics: cruise ship arrivals are occasionally delayed due to port traffic, immigration clearance, and congestion from multiple ships docking simultaneously. These factors can compress the available return window despite careful planning. Even so, we take cruise schedules extremely seriously. In our years of operation, we have never missed a ship departure, nor have we ever ran that close to cut off time. We have had bigger groups since and our guide to guest ratio kept it well. (All sub-groups returned to port together).
During this particular hike, guides repeatedly communicated time checks to the group, explained how tight the schedule was becoming, and discussed pace adjustments and turnaround considerations with participants. While you may not have personally heard every one of these conversations, they did take place across the sub-groups on the trail.
When it became clear that a portion of the group had completed the hike significantly earlier, we made an exceptional logistical decision to split transportation and immediately return the first group to the port. This is not standard practice on group hikes, but we did so specifically to reduce stress for guests who were concerned about ship departure times. I personally handled the second transport to ensure the remaining guests were safely returned.
It is also important to clarify that the second group arrived back at the port shortly before the ship-sponsored excursion group and cleared immigration in time to reboard. While it was close, all guests made it back successfully. Unfortunately, accommodating one group early led to dissatisfaction and refund demands from others who expected everyone to return together—an outcome that highlights the inherent challenges of group hiking logistics.
We genuinely appreciate your acknowledgment that the hike itself was invigorating, that the guiding was professional and attentive, and that the experience matched the expectations of a challenging volcanic ascent. We also commend you and your partner for being well-prepared, fit, and experienced hikers—qualities that absolutely enhance enjoyment of this trail.
Your feedback reinforces why we strongly encourage guests to carefully assess the intensity rating, physical demands, and group format before booking. Mount Liamuiga is not suitable for everyone, and preparedness plays a major role in how the experience is perceived.
Thank you again for hiking with us and for recognizing the efforts of our guides and operations team working behind the scenes. Should you return to St. Kitts in the future, we would be delighted to host you on a private hike or another adventure better suited to your pace and experience level.
Kind regards,
Janeel

Rewarding experience once you reach the top of the peak and finish the hike in it's entirety. However, the disclaimers of this being a challenging hike are not lying and it should be considered if you plan on booking this experience. The incline up the hill is not easy and it's hard on your breathing especially in very hot weather. Since the hike is divided by 8 points, it becomes easier at 5-6 so make sure you hydrate and wear hiking shoes because the mud makes this challenging
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for your review of the Mount Liamuiga Volcano hike. We appreciate your honest feedback. You’re right — the hike is challenging, with steep inclines, humid at first, and muddy sections, so good hiking shoes and proper hydration are essential. We’re glad you found the climb rewarding in the end, and your tips will be helpful for future hikers planning this adventure in St. Kitts.
