Such a fun and informative tour. Ellen was a wonderful guide and even though it was a rainy day, it was still a great adventure!
The food samplings on the tour were delicious and a highlight of the tour. We were on the tour with our 11 and 14 year old kids and they had a great time too! Highly recommend this tour!

Our guide, Ellen, was very good and would recommend - we really enjoyed the tour- once it finally started. The company had missed the booking from Viator and did not turn up at the Garden Hotel meeting point. Kindly the concierge at the hotel called the them (number on Viator booking info) and I was able to tell them that we need the tour asap as had limited time in Shanghai. We had to wait 30-40mins for the guide to arrive so in total an hour late staring. Suggest double checking with operator day before!!

Biking around Shanghai is pretty easy since it’s not at all hilly. But it does take some getting used to navigating around cars and e-bikes. It was a nice way to see the city and learn a bit about it.

Nice casual ride around the city. We enjoyed the experience . Had a great meal included and stopped at some interesting places.

Good trip, well selected and reasonably quiet streets for views, well maintained bikes. Certainly a nice experience and perfect weather for it (early November).
Food was average. Guide had shallow knowledge and little love of Shanghai, but competently guided us through the sights and streets including some scary (to us) intersections. We saw a couple of lovely shopping areas: one old and one very new; I wished I could spend longer hanging out there.
A better trip would have had the same time on the road, skipped the random meal, had a little more history, and been less rushed in the market (- I'm not a shopper, but it was interesting.) But, I think the tour has probably been designed to fit a particular time / marketing profile so maybe this can't be helped.

Thank you so much for joining our bike tour and for taking the time to share such detailed and thoughtful feedback.
We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the perfect November weather and that you were satisfied with our carefully selected quiet routes and the maintenance of our bikes. Ensuring a safe and pleasant riding experience is our top priority.
We also sincerely appreciate your constructive comments regarding the food and the historical depth of the tour. We have noted your feedback about the guide's knowledge and will use it for further training to enrich our storytelling. Your specific suggestion to "skip the random meal" in favor of more history and market time is very insightful, and we are actively exploring how we can integrate this valuable idea to enhance the tour's depth without disrupting the schedule.
Feedback like yours is invaluable in helping us grow. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back someday to show you an ever-improving "Real Shanghai."

A really lovely experience from beginning to end. We got the perfect mix of old Shanghai and new Shanghai with some snack breaks a local food spots at just the right times along the way. Our guide was wonderful. The bikes were new and worked perfectly. The tour went a great pace. Couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend.

This is a great way to see the city and experience it a fun way.

A little rain did not dampen this great morning ride and cultural exchange. Li and Christine showed me the French Concession, great little shops and an impromptu tea tasting.

I arrived 4 days early to participate in a guided tour of China. I had 4 days in Shanghai to do my own thing. I pre booked two tours on consecutive days before I left Australia. I had the misfortune of my baggage being delayed. In the end I had waited for 65 hours for my baggage to arrive. No fault of Viator nor mine. I arrived in Shanghai less than 24 hours before the first tour was to begin. Without a change of clothes, I was unable to participate in either of the pre booked tours. By the time the first tour was to begin I had been wearing the same clothes, a pair of shirts and a T-shirt for 48 hours. There is a no refund policy for cancellation if it is not done with at least 24 hours' notice. I was still in transit at this time not knowing what debacle lay ahead. I am out of pocket and got no sympathy from Viator. I even asked if I could change the date but somehow that was not possible.

I enjoyed my morning with James learning about Shanghai and China and biking around the French concession. He was very charming and flexible and showed me things I certainly could not have found on my own. Very nice bike and great service!

Probably one of the best guided tours I have done. Not only was Ellen so knowledgeable but great company. What a lovely way to see Shanghai and sample so much food. 10/10 and would score higher if I could. I booked this for my first day arriving in Shanghai and I felt it gave me a good intro to my trip and this beautiful city. Perfect for all levels of cycling abilities. Fantastic value for money.

I definitely think this is an amazing way to see the area around you. Expose yourself to the food. If you want to see how the locals live and their day to day you definitely want to take this tour. Also get great exercise. Don’t worry about the drivers because you always have the right of way.

This bike tour is amazing! I am so glad that I took this tour. The good thing about the bike tour is that you can always hop off and take pictures or listen to historical or cultural explanations from the guide. Also, I felt closer to the city and the people than riding a car or bus. It is fun biking around as well. Ellen was my guide. She was the absolutely best! She took it slow and made sure I was following her safely. She spoke very good English, and I learned so much from her about China and Shanghai about history and culture. The local foods I got from the tour were amazing! There was no way I could have found out those great local places by myself. The tour hits all the great and important streets and neighborhoods in Shanghai. It might be a good idea to take this tour at the beginning of your tour so that you will get a general sense of major areas that you want to check out. You get amazing photos from this tour as well. Loved it!

Really get to know non-tourist parts of the city. The bike allows for a large coverage too. Would have been good to have more food tasting.

This was what I wanted to see. The real Shanghai. I could see how real local people in Shanghai are living their lives. Local restaurant, apartment, public park, etc. everything was new and amazing. Also August was really nice. She is considerate and always smiles. And that helped me enjoy my trip more comfortably. Hope to see her again!

Exploring Shangai by bike seems impossible. Too busy, too dangerous. But our guide miraculously opened all the bike paths.
