Good tour! Our tour company actually had the name Xtreme Sports, so I think Dreamy Tours contracted them.
Our guide was very experienced and had done the Inca trail hundreds of times. The company got a campsite next to the Sun Gate.
Food. The good was good. We had cooked meals for lunch and dinner. Sometimes the meat was limited, or not very palatable, but overall it's nice to have full meals on a trail like this.
Snacks. The snacks they gave us were limited, like some crackers and a piece of fruit. I'd suggest to bring your own.
Porters. I was disappointed that on this tour we carry all our own belongings. It would have been nice if the porters at least carried our sleeping bags. Other tour groups only had to carry their day bags. The porters do of course carry the tents and breakfast, lunch and dinner, all the cooking supplies, etc. There is an option to hire a local porter on days 2 and 3 for about $40-50 USD per day.
Preparation instructions. I had to ask the company for a packing list. As a somewhat experienced hiker, I knew the list was lacking, so I found a better list online. I felt bad for a couple of hikers on the trip that weren't well prepared.
Tents. The tents were adequate, except I didn't like the foam pads, which were very thin. It almost felt like I was lying on the ground. Maybe I'm just a diva. But I felt very uncomfortable. If you're a light sleeper I'd bring an inflatable mattress.
Inca trail itself. The Inca trail itself is legendary. I wouldn't ever do it again though - I'd stay in the hotel nearby. Doing this still allows one to get their early. Another option is to do a 1-2 day trail. Most of the highlights are at this segment anyway, but no part of the trail even compares to the end of it, Machu Picchu.
Conclusion. This is a good tour if you're an experience hiker and don't mind carrying most of your things. There is also an option to hire a local porter on days 2 and 3 for about $40-50 USD per day. If you sleep soundly, the thin foam mattress may be ok for you. Otherwise you can bring an inflatable mattress. The guides were experienced and super friendly.
