Beautifully presented Amazonian Lodge

Karen_R, Sep 2025
Wonderful stay at a lovely lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon the activities were interesting, thought we would have seen more wildlife, but the overall experience and activities were well organised.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us Karen! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our lodge and found the activities well organized. The Rainforest is a magical place, and while wildlife sightings can sometimes be unpredictable, every visit offers its own unique encounters and adventures. We truly appreciate your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back for even more Amazon discoveries in the future!

Jammed packed 2 days - fantastic

Stacey_C, Sep 2025
It was an amazing adventure. The lodge/accommodation was beautiful. So much activity packed into such a short time, but you never felt rushed. Our guide Brayan was fantastic and so fun to hang out with. I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you so much for your wonderful review Stacey! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your adventure with us and felt comfortable during your stay at the lodge. It’s great to know the activities were exciting yet relaxing, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with Brayan, he will be very happy to hear them! We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back for another Amazon experience in the future =)

Underwhelming

Purav_P, May 2025
The tour is misleading. I was thinking I’ll be deep in the rainforest but it’s just around the lodge. The driver spoke no English but at least he tried to provide info about the stops. Unfortunately, too much fog to see anything on the drive. The day 1 guide Carlos kept pushing timings to fit his schedule. The 1 hour tubing was only 15 mins. He was leaving early so he did all the activities back to back. The night tour was also for 15 mins on their property. Carlos decided to do the tour before dinner when it wasn’t even fully dark so he could leave early. Only spotted a tarantula and one frog. Day 2 was much better. Guame (I think that’s how you spell his name) was wonderful. He showed me a canoeing tour where we saw many monkeys, birds, fish. The tour with the native people was good. The waterfall was nice. Would recommend swimming in it. Overall, Guame made the experience salvageable. Overall, not worth the price. The towels and bed sheets smelled. I’d recommend going to Yasuni instead.

Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for sharing your feedback — we truly value it and take it seriously. We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations on the first day. Regarding your comments: Yes, we do offer tours to the Yasuní region, which is a truly pristine and remote part of the Amazon Rainforest. However, due to the complex logistics involved, such tours require a minimum of 5 days, including two full days just for transportation. As you can imagine, this also significantly increases the cost. Our tours in the Upper Napo region are designed specifically for shorter stays, making them ideal for travelers who want to experience the Amazon without extensive travel time. The price reflects a balance between transportation from Quito, accommodation, meals, and guided visits. As for the guide and activities on Day 1 — thank you for bringing this to our attention. According to our itinerary, the initial forest walk typically lasts around 40 minutes, and the tubing should last about the same. We’ll be following up directly with the guide (Carlos) to understand why these activities were shortened and compressed. That’s not the experience we aim to provide, and we’ll address it accordingly. Regarding the transfer: the tour does specify that the driver from Quito will be Spanish-speaking, and the English-speaking guide joins once you arrive at the lodge. We’re glad to hear that Day 2 with Guame was much more enjoyable, and we’ll be sure to share your positive feedback with him. Thank you again for your comments — they help us improve and ensure a better experience for all our guests.

Do not bother

Jason_H, Nov 2024
Overpriced and over charged for transportation back to Quito. We paid $ 90 dollars to end up in a carpool that significantly delayed arrival and agency only paid the driver $40! That large of a market I concsider a scam/fraud. Therefore, as a lack of integrity and underwhelming “forest” outing for real outdoor lovers I give this a 1⭐️

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Dear Gueset Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely regret that your shared transportation experience back to Quito did not meet your expectations. Our shared transportation service is designed to offer an accessible and eco-friendly travel option. The price reflects operational costs, including coordination, logistics, and safety standards, not just the driver’s payment. Before the tour, we informed you of the two transportation options available: Shared transportation: $45 USD per person (2 passengers = $90 USD), non-stop and shared with other passengers. Private transportation: $130 USD for 1-3 passengers, with the flexibility to stop at places like the Jumandy Caves or Papallacta Hot Springs. During your stay, you selected the shared transportation service from the Misahuallí area to Quito after completing your 2-day/1-night tour. We facilitated the reservation with an external company for the Misahuallí–Quito route (135 miles/217 km). This door-to-door service can take over 5 hours due to stops for picking up or dropping off other passengers. We understand that after the tour, you decided to visit the Jumandy Caves in Archidona (1.5 hours from Misahuallí) on your own. Unfortunately, this change was not communicated in advance, which created logistical challenges. Although the driver adjusted the route to pick you up, it was not possible to modify the agreed-upon fare. If we had been informed beforehand, we could have arranged a more suitable service from that location, and the cost of the shared transportation would have been adjusted accordingly. Additionally, our private transportation would have been the most convenient and comfortable option for your return to Quito, allowing you to enjoy greater flexibility and visit the Jumandy Caves, Papallacta Hot Springs, or other points of interest along the way. We will review this case to improve our communication and ensure a smoother experience for future clients. We value your feedback. If you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Our commitment is to learn from this experience and continue improving. Sincerely,

Amazon Jungle for the Win!

Terrance_W, Oct 2024
Our trip to a jungle resort in the Amazon Rainforest was truly an unforgettable experience! The journey from Quito was about four hours, and the travel was incredibly accommodating, making the ride comfortable and enjoyable as we made our way deeper into the heart of the jungle. When we arrived, we were blown away by how beautiful the property was—the surroundings were lush and vibrant, and the rooms were top-notch, offering both comfort and a true Amazonian vibe. The highlight, though, was our guide, who was not only hilarious but also extremely welcoming. From the moment we arrived, they made sure everyone felt at home and had a great time. They went above and beyond, taking us to see the coolest spots in the jungle that we never would have found on our own. Whether it was spotting wildlife, learning about the local ecosystem, or exploring hidden gems, the guide made every moment feel special. They made sure we left with incredible memories that will last a lifetime. This was hands down one of the best travel experiences we've ever had!

Response from Host, Nov 2024

A taste of the Amazon!

Tracey_S, Aug 2024
The highlight of my trip to Ecuador! My guide Brayan was incredibly knowledgeable of local culture, the flora and fauna and went out of his way to ensure that I saw as much nature as possible. Thank you Brayan and the team at Suchipakara Eco Lodge!

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Good but could easily be great

Jimmy_N, Mar 2024
Beautiful property, comfortable rooms, amazing guides, excellent food and the beauty of the Amazon! Amazing experience. Only downsides were the cost and I was placed in a room next to a new construction build. One could easily bus or share a ride and pay for the room and excursions for half of what I paid with the upcharge of being a solo traveler. The construction came with unbearable and consistent machinery buzzing, drilling, and hammering as I attempted to relax and take in the views I literally had to leave to get away from the noise. I'm certain the upgrades will be great for the property but in the meantime it would be an easy recommendation to place guests on the opposite side of the property vs immediately next to the noise. The cost for the convenience of not having to plan all of this certainly makes the experience easier for travelers that don't want to have to figure out the logistics. All in all a great time with a bit of upside to be a perfect experience.

Response from Host, Mar 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're delighted to hear that you found our property beautiful, with comfortable rooms, amazing guides, and excellent food, all set in the breathtaking beauty of the Amazon. We truly aim to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the construction noise during your stay. Your comfort is of utmost importance to us, and we understand how disruptive this must have been. We're actively working on upgrades to enhance our property, but in the meantime, we will certainly take your suggestion into consideration and aim to place guests away from any ongoing construction to ensure a peaceful stay. Regarding the cost, we understand your concerns and appreciate your feedback. We strive to offer value for money with our packages, but we acknowledge that there may be more cost-effective options available for solo travelers. We will review our pricing structure to ensure that it remains competitive while still providing convenience and quality service. Once again, thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We hope that despite the challenges you faced, you were able to enjoy your time in the Amazon, and we would love the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for an even better experience.

Amazing Experience!

Michaelann_R, Mar 2024
Carlos was an amazing guide! He was able to share so much about the flora and fauna in the jungle along with the indigenous culture. Everyone at the lodge was very attentive and welcoming! The accommodations were comfortable. They packed a lot of things in to just two days and one night! It’s a very early start coming from Quito (5am) and arriving in at the lodge around 9:30am. The driving service they had arranged to get me there was great, they messaged me in WhatsApp the night before to confirm the ride. Upon arrival I was given a tea and a snack while the basics of the lodge were reviewed with me, along with the schedule. Then there was some downtime where I could rest, swim in the pool, have a drink, or go to the spa. Right after lunch Carlos took me on a walk to identify important plants of the jungle. Then we got ready to go for a short, serene float in an inner tube down the river. After dinner we went with our flashlights on another walk to identify nocturnal animals and critters. The next day after breakfast I packed everything up and took it with me to hike to a waterfall where I got to swim and get a massage from the strong falling water. Then we took a motorized canoe to a local indigenous community for lunch and they showed me some of their local customs and I had a chance to buy some of their artisanal products. Finally, after taking the canoe back to the port I got to see capuchin monkeys running freely in the city plaza. Also got to enjoy the local delicacy of chontacuro, a fat worm that you can eat live or grilled. I then had a private shared transport back to Quito. Overall it was an amazing experience and I can’t get over how great the people were! I would recommend this experience. Of course with the longer stays you can see and do more, but if you just wanted a taste of what it’s like in the jungle then this is a great option!

Response from Host, Mar 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like Carlos was an exceptional guide, providing valuable insights into the flora, fauna, and indigenous culture of the jungle. We're thrilled to hear that you found everyone at the lodge to be attentive and welcoming, and that the accommodations were comfortable. It's wonderful to hear that you were able to pack so many activities into just two days and one night. From the early start in Quito to the smooth transportation arrangements and the comprehensive schedule provided upon arrival, it sounds like everything was well-organized and efficient. The variety of activities, from jungle walks to river floats, nocturnal animal spotting, waterfall hikes, and visits to indigenous communities, truly allowed you to immerse yourself in the rich experiences of the Amazon. The opportunity to interact with local customs and purchase artisanal products added depth to your journey. And who could forget the memorable encounter with capuchin monkeys and trying the local delicacy of chontacuro? These unique experiences undoubtedly added to the richness of your adventure. Overall, it sounds like you had an unforgettable experience, and we're delighted to hear that you would recommend it to others. Thank you for choosing our jungle excursion, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future!

Jack_N, Aug 2023
The lodge was amazing and comfortable. The activities were great fun and well organised, this included a walk to the waterfall which was so special when you arrived and a great chance to swim. Monkey beach was great fun, you could get so close to them. We saw so many animals on the night walk which was very memorable. Our guide was knowledgeable and made it very enjoyable, really recommend!

Truly in the middle of the jungle

Tatiana_L, Jun 2023
The resort where we stayed was excellent and truly in the middle of the jungle. I learned a lot about the indigenous culture when talking with the guide at the hotel who took us on a walk in the jungle and the night walk as well.

Response from Host, Jun 2023

Hello Tatiana, thank you very much for your review! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us, come back anytime =)

Wonderful two-day tour into the Amazon

Tim_L, Apr 2023
This was a great little tour. The transportation from Quito was great, with stops along the way. The staff at Suchipakari were awesome and helpful, and the lodge was a great place to stay. The excursions included in the tour were a perfect introduction to the Amazon and well worth the money. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Response from Host, Apr 2023

Amazing

Jesse_B, Apr 2023
Really nice resort. Staff was helpful and friendly. All the activities were interesting and fun and the food was good. The car ride is 4.5 hours from central Quito on a hilly and curvy road.

Response from Host, Apr 2023

Dear Jesse, We are glad to know that you enjoyed your visit to Suchipakari Lodge :) thanks for your review and come back soon.

Excellent Time in the Amazons

Kevin_P, Feb 2023
Brian was an Allstar guide. He guided us through each activity. He was very patient and friendly and delivered all that was promised. We had a great time at every activity and would highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in getting a taste of the Amazons.

Response from Host, Feb 2023

Dear Kevin, we are happy to know you had a good time with our tour. We hope to receive you in other time in Ecuador :)

Fun, easy, waterfalls, monkeys, Boas, and Tucans.

Andrew_S, Dec 2022
Alex was an excellent driver and Carlos was awesome—especially given we don’t speak much Spanish. Carlos tan the two days like a pro and gave us some memorable experiences in the jungle walks. Enjoyed our time. Side note: I would suggest figuring out your transportation before arriving as it isn’t included in the package.

Response from Host, Jan 2023

We are glad to know that your experience with us was excellent and we are very grateful for the recommendation. Carlos and Alex are happy to read your review and so are all of us in the Live Ecuador Travel Group team. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you soon in Ecuador with our other combined programs in the Andes, Galapagos or Pacific Coast!

Don’t purchase this service. It’s totally unworthy. The worst guide EVER!!!

Kalmonwan_S, Nov 2022
The agency was totally unprofessional. You just have to keep repeating yourself on your request many many many times. The worst part was the guide, Santiago. He is the least least least informative guide I’ve ever had despite the price it costed. I barely got any information about the jungle after the end of the trip. He is merely a driver for the whole trip. For example, there was no brief of the activity nor the self-introduction. I needed to ask for his name and made sure to get what I have paid for. He lacks of the service mind for example he stopped at the gas station and didn’t even bother telling or checking with the passenger if anyone needs to use toilet or buy any drink. He just stopped to get his own food. The start of the tour delayed for an hour and there was no heads up until you asked. There were a lot of time gap between the activities. For some activities they just dropped you at the place and told you the name of the place and told you to spend 20 minutes here without giving any information about the place at all.

Response from Host, Jan 2023

Dear Guest We greatly appreciate your comments regarding your tour We assure you that the necessary measures will be taken to improve the quality of the services referred to Thank you again for letting us know about your experience Regards,

Good experience but need work.

Stacy_M, Mar 2022
The package included a pick up at our hotel but the drop off back at our hotel was additional amount. The host was not clear on the activities for each day and called a tough hike over slick stones and mud, an easy walk. We were told we would have a double room and while it was very nice it was one bed. There is no A/C, just a fan and there are roaches in the room and many dead bugs, and some sort of beeping, but no phone in the room to call to ask questions. Food was okay (breakfast was great) but the other food was too salty and we did not get what we ordered. It was a wonderful experience, but the place is very disorganized even though staff was very nice.

Response from Host, Mar 2024

We apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. It's disappointing to hear that there were discrepancies between what was advertised and what was provided, as well as issues with the room accommodations, cleanliness, and food. We take your feedback seriously and will address these issues with our team to ensure clearer communication about activities, room arrangements, and amenities. Additionally, we'll work to improve the quality and accuracy of our services to better meet your expectations. We're glad to hear that despite these challenges, you still found the overall experience to be wonderful and that our staff was friendly and accommodating. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services for future guests. We apologize once again for any inconvenience caused and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a more seamless and enjoyable experience.

Incredible experience

Harwald_H, Jul 2021

Response from Host, Jul 2021

It is always a pleasure for us to provide the best service to our travelers. We appreciate your preference for preferring our Live Ecuador tour operator.

Fantastic tour!

Amy_M, Jun 2021
The staff were all very professional and friendly! I was the only one who booked this that day so I ended up with the drive and most tour activities being private! One other group arrived at the lodge in the evening, but I had the whole place to myself for a while, how cool! Stopped in tena, and to walk and see monkeys on the way. Went for a nice walk in the forest during both the day and night, went tubing on the river and plenty of time to chill in the pool. Great food! The second day was an additional cost to upgrade to the activity of going to a wildlife rescue which was amazing!, a visit to an indigenous village to watch the drink being prepared, shoot a blowgun, see some caiman, and learn about cacao. A great value for so many activities!

Response from Host, Jun 2021

Hi Amy, Thank you very much for your visit and for this message that motivates us to continue with what we love to do, you will always be welcome back in Ecuador and we will be happy to receive all travelers who wish to live this great adventure. :)

Great team and great value for money

Passport85610, Dec 2019
I was a little sceptical as there were so few reviews but this was a great trip. Few other people, flexible and tailored approach and the staff were brilliant. HIGHLY recommend

Response from Host, Jan 2020

Dear friend! We are very grateful for your comment, we strive for everything to go very well. It was a pleasure to receive them.

Amazing experience

denisa691, Dec 2019
We had a guide only for me and my husband and all we did was very exciting: tubing, walks in the jungle, visiting the native community, cascades, etc. The Lodge was located far from civilization, the rooms were nice, food was very good, we absolutely loved it. The only thing we regretted is we could not stay longer.

Response from Host, Dec 2019

Dear Denisa We greatly appreciate your visit, it has been a pleasure for us to enjoy this short time in the Amazon, where you will always be welcome. Wishing you good luck and a soon return, we say goodbye. Best regards Santiago Amaguaña A.
