This ATV tour was amazing. The mountains of Jalisco are beautiful. Our guide Roberto was really good, both during driving and during the various stops. He told us a lot about the surroundings and customs of the region. Thank you Roberto!

Dirty times call for dirty measures...

    Chad_J, Apr 2026
You will get dirty—but it’s absolutely worth it! We had a fantastic time with our guide, Oriell, who was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history. He made sure we enjoyed every moment and kept us laughing with his great sense of humor. The tequila tasting was a highlight—truly amazing. The food at El Rancho de Mi Abuelo was decent, though unfortunately two people in our group didn’t feel well the next day, which was the only hiccup in an otherwise wonderful trip. I wish the pictures / video prices were a bit more reasonable. Overall, we had an unforgettable time with our kids, and that’s what mattered most!

    Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so Chad much for your detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear you and your family had such a fun and memorable ATV adventure — and yes, getting a little dirty is definitely part of the experience! Oriell will be very happy to know you enjoyed his knowledge and sense of humor. We’re also glad you loved the tequila tasting, one of the highlights of the tour. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the restaurant and photo pricing. Please know that the restaurant and tastings are independent experiences, but we always value comments like yours as they help us continue improving communication and the overall guest experience. Thank you again for your support, and we hope to welcome you and your family back for another adventure in Puerto Vallarta soon!

    Puerto Vallarta ATV tour

    Hortencia_C, Apr 2026
The ATV experience was really nice. Though the Viator site doesn’t say it’s going up a mountain and it’s a pretty isolated area. We stopped for tortilla making and tequila tasting (they try to sell you bottles), and “the waterfall” experience was a just a spiket of water from a rock; don’t be fooled by the picture of the waterfall.

    Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the ATV experience overall. We truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts. We’d like to mention that during the dry season, water levels in the mountains are naturally lower, which can affect the flow of waterfalls. However, the crystal-clear mountain water and natural pools (piletas) remain clean and refreshing, offering a great spot to cool off during the tour. Beyond the water stops, this experience is also about enjoying the ride through the Sierra Madre, the beautiful views of local mountain villages, and the unique advantage of riding away from city traffic — allowing for a longer, more enjoyable driving experience. We appreciate your visit and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again for another adventure in the future!

    ATV's foster togetherness!

    William_P, Jan 2026
We bought this experience for our son and his wife for Christmas. They rode on one ATV together since his wife had never been on one before. They had a great time and would highly recommend it to others. My daughter-in-law said she liked holding on to my son and riding with him rather then beside him on her own ATV.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you William for choosing us for your adventure day! We're glad you had fun on the double ATVs and felt well taken care of by our team. Come back soon for round two!

    Great tour!

    Dawn_H, Jan 2026
Bring a bandana, or you can purchase one there. Our tour guide, Roberto, was excellent!! Great tour. Don’t forget you need to get there early and account for ship time and local time difference. 25-30 min taxi ride from port. We paid $30 pp round trip, but he waited there while we took the 3 hour tour. Lunch was good at the stop. Tequila tasting was great along with the tortilla making and eating😉. Video and photos will be available, but expensive $250. Take plenty of your own if you don’t want to spend the money.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

Hello, thank you Dawn for your comment and for visiting. Here are a few tips: As a suggestion, at Dirty Monkey we can help you get a better rate for your transportation, whether you're arriving on a cruise ship or independently. It's not necessary for a taxi to wait for you at departure time, as we can request one before you arrive at the base. Regarding the cost of photos and videos, it depends on the number of vehicles in your group, and the packages vary depending on whether they include photos or edited videos. Thank you for explaining every detail; it helps us improve communication with our clients. Thank you for visiting us and enjoying the wonders of the Sierra Madre. We hope to see you soon for your next mountain getaway.

Worst ATV/UTV excursion out of the dozens I've done

    Jason_W, Aug 2025
This was by far the worst ATV/UTV excursion I’ve ever been on. Out of a 3-hour tour, we only rode for about an hour, and the rest was spent sitting through a tequila sales pitch and waiting at a restaurant we didn’t even need. When we were at the restaurant we asked our tour guide if we could just head back. He said " if we go back ill have to fill out paperwork as to why we cut the tour short". So he said we will just hang out here for just 45 more minutes then head back. The RZR itself was in terrible condition—the check engine light was on, the doors were barely held together with scrap metal, and the suspension was so worn out it rattled loudly the entire ride. On top of that, the guide was rude and very unprofessional— he walked up to us holding out a bowl for tips and saying, " we work for tips". My wife asked why is it empty, implying the fact he was rude and anything but customer oriented. “That’s because you need to fill it.” Then came the pressure to buy photos and a video we never asked for. The photographer himself was polite, but he started off before showing us, letting us know that he worked really hard to get us these pictures, the whole setup felt like one upsell after another. By the time we added up the excursion cost, $267 , insurance $30, photos $135, and tips $80, it was extremely overpriced. Even the basics weren’t handled well—we were handed little hand towels to clean off after riding in the mud, and we had to beg just to get garbage bags for the ride home. Overall, very disappointing, unsafe equipment, and not worth the money. I really shouldnt have tipped that much but I try to always tip way more than needed when visiting countries where it is more difficult to make a living than where I live. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company. Honestly I wish I hadn't purchased the video and just tipped the photographer and our tour guides helper. But the tour guide when asking for a tip, asked for himself and his helper who was also a kind man.

    Response from Host, Sep 2025

Hi Jason, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts in such detail. We’re truly sorry to read that your experience didn’t match what you were hoping for. Our goal is always to provide safe, enjoyable, and memorable adventures, and it saddens us that this wasn’t how you felt during your visit. From your comments, it seems that several aspects of the tour did not align with your expectations. While many of our guests appreciate the cultural stops, the photo service, and the time to relax at the restaurant, we completely understand that this may not have been what you were looking for. We will take your feedback into account to improve the way we communicate these parts of the experience in advance. We’re grateful you mentioned the kindness of our photographer and helper, and we will be sure to pass along your words. Feedback like yours helps us continue refining our service so future guests can better enjoy what we love to share. Thank you again, and we sincerely wish you wonderful adventures ahead. — Dirty Monkey Team

Hidden Fees are hidden Fees with a side of required fees

    Christopher_M, Aug 2025
Hidden charges throughout..... $20 for insurance PER VEHICLE that was mandatory and nonrefundable, 5% to use a card, money for a bandanna, pay for food and drinks..... And the most BORING ATV ride I've ever taken. We didn't stop at any places to take pictures because..... THEY WANTED MORE MONEY FOR PHOTOS!!! Pay to get there and pay to leave.... What exactly was covered in all the money we paid to upfront? $217 USD FOR PICTURES!!!! These people are truly 😧

    Response from Host, Sep 2025

Hello Christo, Thank you for sharing your comments. We're sorry your experience wasn't what you expected. We'd like to clarify a few points: The vehicle insurance rate is always displayed upfront before booking. Since we don't require any credit card holds or deposits, this insurance is the most convenient and transparent way for our participants to be covered and protected during the tour. Food and drinks are completely optional. Bandanas are included at no extra cost. We have some for sale, but they're optional, not mandatory. Participants can bring their own if they wish. Photos and videos are also not mandatory; you can always bring your own phone or GoPro to capture memories (with the driver focused on driving safely, of course). Regarding the route, our tours are designed to balance driving with safety and scenery, but we understand that the pace may not be the same for everyone. We greatly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue to improve, and we hope your next adventure brings you the excitement you were looking for. — Dirty Monkey Team

    It was ok

    Jamell_P, Aug 2025
While the people were nice, one of the reasons for booking this atv rode versus the others were the waterfall and unfortunately, we did not see any water fall and no stops for photo ops. It was a standard ride to a tequila tasting and tortilla making and a stop at an expensive restaurant.

    Response from Host, Sep 2025

HelloJamell, Thank you for your comment and for acknowledging the kindness of our team. We'd like to clarify a few points: On this route, we make a stop at the waterfall and also at the natural pools; many of our guests really enjoy swimming there. We also include a stop at the observation deck, which is often a favorite photo opportunity. The tequila tasting and tortilla demonstration are part of the cultural experience of the tour. The stop at the restaurant is just an option to relax, but purchasing food or drinks is not mandatory. We apologize if this wasn't clear during your visit and will work to improve our communication so guests know exactly what to expect. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We look forward to welcoming you back so you can fully enjoy all the highlights of the tour. — Dirty Monkey Team

This was a great and fun ATV tour! The guide was fun and helpful. The tequila tasting and waterfall were nice stops to have a bit of a break during the ride. The views were amazing and I highly recommend this tour. I do recommend taking some of your own pictures along the way. The pictures/videos offered were great quality but came at a pretty high price point.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you so much for your kind words and for recommending our tour! 🌟 We’re glad you enjoyed the ride, the views, and the tequila and waterfall stops — it’s always a pleasure to share those special moments with our guests. We also appreciate your feedback about the photo packages; we’ll take it into account to keep improving. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon! 🚀🏞️

Really Fun and Great Mountain Views; Don't trust them to take videos/photos for you

    Brandon_D, Jul 2025
The ATVing was awesome! Super fun to ride around and see gorgeous views of the area and a really fun experience. However, the majority of the trip is stopping at the tequila tour and the "waterfall." At the tequila tour they give you a tasting of 3 tequilas and 3 agave liquors (but they call them tequila). They were delicious and you could purchase a bottle while there but they were way overpriced. I ended up taking a picture of the liquor I wanted and found an equivalent bottle in town less than half the price they were going to charge me. Also, the waterfall they take you to is more of a small trickling river/stream that falls down about an 8 foot drop in two spots. Definitely not a grand waterfall you would typically expect when booking a $80 adventure activity on a mountain. Although the water was very refreshing and cold! Finally, when we started the activity they informed us that they would be taking photos and videos for us on a GoPro. Unfortunately, they did not inform us that they would then try to charge us $20 USD per person (group of 8 of us so $160 total) to have those videos and photos sent to us. If I had known this was an additional cost I would have taken many more photos and action shots on my own. Overall, the guides were polite, views were amazing, and ATVing was fun but I would not book with this tour group a second time,

    Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hello Brandon, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to know you enjoyed the ATV tour, the incredible mountain views, and the hospitality of our guides. We apologize for any confusion regarding photos and videos. In the tour description on Viator, we specify that souvenirs, photos, and videos are not included in the price. However, we understand that it would have been helpful to have provided a clearer reminder at the beginning of the tour to avoid any misunderstandings. We greatly appreciate your comment and are already taking steps to reinforce this information upon arrival. Regarding the waterfall visit and tequila tasting, we appreciate your honest feedback. We always try to provide a complete experience, combining adventure, local culture, and natural landscapes, and we take every opinion into account to continue improving. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you had memorable moments during your visit to Puerto Vallarta and that you'll give us another chance in the future with one of our customized tours. Greetings from the Dirty Monkey team 🐒🌄

    In the reservation there...

    Robert_J, Jul 2025
In the reservation there is no place to put a 15 year old only ages 6-99. So I reserved 3 individual quads and then I check in they say she has to ride with me even though she has driven quads plenty of times before and worse no refund on the third quad I reserved. No pickup offered in the city had to take a cab. Lots of hidden fees. Just trying to lure in and maximize profit.

    Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hello Robert Thank you for sharing your comment. We regret that your experience was not satisfactory, although it is important to clarify some points. In the tour description, we clearly specify that a valid driver's license is required to drive a vehicle, regardless of whether the participant has previously ridden ATVs. We accept guests from 6 to 99 years old, but minors must be passengers for safety and legal reasons. Regarding your reservation, we noticed that you selected three individual vehicles. In the event that one of the participants does not meet the requirements to drive, we offer the option to upgrade to a double vehicle, which has a different cost than the single vehicle. This information is also detailed on our website. In addition, we have cancellation and modification policies that apply once the reservation is confirmed. We cannot issue refunds for last-minute decisions that do not meet the previously informed requirements. Finally, we offer tours with or without transportation included, depending on the option selected. There are no hidden charges. All information is clearly posted; We just ask that you take a moment to read it before booking. Our goal is not to "maximize profits," but to provide safe, clear, and personalized experiences. We appreciate your feedback and, as always, are open to improvement. Sincerely Armando

Fantastic ATV adventure. Uriel, Choche, and Jose were wonderful guides who led us up into the mountains, over rivers and through the forest. We stopped to sample local tequila (the passionfruit was my favorite!) and had lunch at a local spot. While we were waiting on lunch, we took a refreshing swim in the river. Great tour!

    Just do it!

    Courtland_F, Jun 2025
Uriel and the crew were awesome. Highly recommend doing it again! I would recommend going early in the wet season or early in the dry season since it was very dusty. The tequila distillery was amazing.

    ATV tour reciew

    hainese, Mar 2025
This was so worth the trip. The staff are very communicative if you have questions about the trip leading up to the actual excursion. Check in was very simple- you can use cash or card for the collision insurance but there is a small adder for cc fee. We had Chema who was THE best, clearly explained everything and was enthusiastic and welcoming. We went at 09 so going up the mountain was a little chilly, I had a tank top and probably could have put on a long sleeve but I was not uncomfortable. The views were great! Tequila tasting was so much fun....the tequila was delicious and the guys working there made sure we tried as much as possible. I read in some reviews people were complaining about the prices, I didn't think they were unreasonable and it was delicious. We bought the pictures that were taken...they had a lot of good shots. The prices are negotiable depending on what you want. I received mine the next day. Overall we had an absolute blast riding for the morning...even with the stops there is tons of time on the atvs. Would recommend to anyone!!
