It’s free to visit Gringo Gulch, as it's a public neighborhood. However, there are plenty of tours that offer insight into the historic area. Expect to pay around US$140 for a private, half-day walking tour that covers the main attractions in downtown Puerto Vallarta, including Gringo Gulch.

Located just north of the Cuale River in downtown Puerto Vallarta, Gringo Gulch is a historic residential neighborhood. It is named after the foreigners (or gringos) who once called the area home, including Hollywood stars. It's perhaps best known as the setting for Elizabeth Taylor’s love affair with Richard Burton.

Weather-wise, the winter season of December through February is the best time for outdoor sightseeing in Gringo Gulch. However, this is also the high season in Puerto Vallarta. For fewer crowds, aim for June through August. Although this is technically the rainy season, summer usually only brings afternoon showers.

Plan on anywhere from a couple of hours to a half day for wandering around Gringo Gulch. If you’re exploring on foot, be prepared for a pretty steep climb when walking up the hill. Unfortunately, Gringo Gulch is typically not accessible to travelers using wheelchairs or with limited mobility.
