- Vegetarian, vegan or gluten free option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
- Please bring towel, swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat. We also recommend a jumper in the cooler months.
- To participate in the activity of snorkelling, you must be confident in the water with the capacity to swim unassisted. If you are a poor swimmer, you may not be suitable to snorkel in the open water. Not all passengers will be suitable to snorkel, and our experienced crew have the discretion to advise against snorkelling if deemed “not suitable for the activity”. This is for the safety of the passenger. Please be advised snorkelling can be a strenuous physical activity, even in calm water and that older people are at an increased risk of death and/or injury due to a higher incidence of medical conditions made worse by physical exertion, such as heart disease and stroke. All passengers intending to snorkel will be asked to complete our Medical Declaration for Snorkelling form. Our experienced crew will discuss any issues relating to medical conditions and swimming ability. Sailaway reserves the right to decline any passenger from participating in snorkelling if we are concerned about your health condition and/or swimming ability. This is for your own safety, please listen to the advice of our experienced snorkel guides to ensure the safety of our guests.
- Our Sailaway vessels are luxury sailing catamarans and we offer a pure sailing experience. This means the vessels travel in open seas and will move around whilst under sail. The decks of the vessels are multi levels and can be slippery when wet. Passengers must have good mobility to safely move around the vessels, step onto the glass bottom boats (if applicable) and get in and out of the water via the ladders on the back of the vessels. Unfortunately, we do not offer wheelchair access due to the layout of the decks and saloon areas. Our tours are adventure experiences for active travellers. Please choose your tour carefully to ensure it is suitable for your experience, age and physical health.

This was a brilliant day. An early morning was well worth it! The staff on board were excellent. The snorkelling, brilliant. We saw turtles, sharks and plenty of fish and coral. The clams were extraordinary! A fabulous day and highly recommended

Wonder trip out to the reef! The crew was amazing so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to accommodate dietary restrictions like gluten free and vegetarian. The reef was BEAUTIFUL not to mention…. turtles and all kinds of fish.
Excellent experience, a must do activity in the area. The crew was excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable.
Make sure you have the sea sick medicine in case the water is rough!

What an incredible day on the reef. Courtney, Mick and the rest of the crew were incredible - it was a beautiful day, the sailing was smooth. the corals and marine life were absolutely incredible. The crew took great care to ensure you have everything you need and the boat is excellent. It was a top notch experience and totally worthwhile.

The ultimate smirking experience. I have never seen coral or marine life like this before. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience. The crew and the boat were top notch! Must do experience!!
The tour operators were very accommodating to both the experienced and novice swimmers. They were very vigilant in making sure all snorkelers were safe, although we had mild waves. The breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks were delicious. The snorkeling areas on the reef were beautiful with plenty of fish and coral life. The onboard presentation by the marine biologist was very informative before we went into the ocean. All in all it was a highlight of our trip to Australia.
Amazing day on the reef. This is a MUST tour if you want to experience the Great Barrier Reef. The day with Sailaway was top tier and highly recommended. The crew was very professional and helped us have a most excellent day.
Awesome experience of the reef with an experienced team who were keen to share it with us. Saw more bright coral and fish than I expected and even a turtle. Well catered across the day with plenty of food and they have prescription snorkel masks so I could see clearly underwater. Small group so it wasn’t crowded in the water - Highly recommend!
Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef was a bucket list item for me, and this trip definitely delivered! The variety of fish and coral was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and the water was clear and beautiful. This trip included 2 1-hr snorkeling sessions in different locations, with a stop at a pristine sandbar in between, and lunch on the boat.
One thing I really appreciated with Sailaway was their effort to be inclusive of snorkelers with all abilities and comfort levels. They checked on how much experience everyone had, and provided options that included independent snorkeling, snorkeling with a pool noodle for support, and snorkeling while being towed by one of the guides. They also had the option to go inside of a small glass-bottomed boat on the second stop for people who didn't want to get in the water. Additionally, I have dietary restrictions that they were able to accommodate for the lunch and afternoon tea (with advance notice).

Although the ocean was a little rough on the ride to and from the reef the snorkeling was great. The crew was very attentive and helpful. Lunch was great. The snorkeling was awesome with lots of new fish to see including a white tipped shark.

We had an amazing day out on the reef. The crew were fantastic. Everything ran so smoothly. We were so lucky with the weather and we saw so many wonderful fish and swam with turtles! I’d highly recommended this trip to anyone, all ages were on the boat.

It was the experience of a lifetime. The company was very communicative and helpful. The staff on the catamaran was amazing. The were so friendly and helpful. They took the time to sit and talk with you when they weren’t busy. They went out of their way to ensure everyone was comfortable.
During the snorkeling, the staff was in the water with us looking for wonderful things for us to see and when they found something they alerted us and waited for us to join them. The small vessel allowed for an intimate group so the reefs we were at were not too populated and the wildlife stayed around. I highly recommended Sailaway Port Douglas if you want an excellent Great Barrier Reef Snorkeling experience. The company has other tours and if we were staying longer I would do another tour with them.
One of the best snorkeling trips I've ever been on, if not the best. The boat was spacious, the crew were superb, the food and snacks were excellent and last but not least, the reef was magnificent.
Fantastic trip! Despite a mostly wet day had a great time - equipment and crew were top notch. Loved the smaller group (only 24 passengers) which made it so much more personal and enjoyable. The sea turtles and the stop on the sand cay were highlights!
We want to give Sailaway Tours a good review, even though the day did not go as everyone had hoped. We understand that sometimes things, like weather, happen and cannot be controlled. We thoroughly enjoyed our first snorkeling time which was in a fabulous area where we saw beautiful coral, fish and even turtles.
While we would have loved to have the second snorkeling opportunity a medical emergency prevented it and then the weather did turn pretty bad on the return trip. Despite these things, it was clear that the staff were extremely capable and handled it all like pros.
We did a great day trip to outer great reef. All was very professional and top standard. We are very happy from this experience dispite a stormy conditions we were coming back.
