Itinerary
Meet a driver at your hotel in Playa del Carmen or the Riviera Maya, then board a luxury coach for Chichen Itza. The air-conditioned bus is equipped with tables for groups, restrooms, and televisions, and a continental breakfast will be served along the way (soda, water, and beer are also available).
Arrive at Chichen Itza, then join a guide for a tour of the fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the pyramid of Kukulkan that dominates the city, visit the ball courts where ancient Maya warriors competed, and learn how astronomers tracked the passage of the stars from the Chichen Itza observatory.
Following the tour, you’ll have time to take photographs, shop for souvenirs, or keep exploring the site on your own before heading to a nearby restaurant for a buffet lunch. The last stop of the day is a cenote, an underground swimming hole with cool, fresh water, where you'll stop for a refreshing swim.
Pass through the charming, colonial city of Valladolid on the way back to the coast, where this full-day tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

I have traveled all over the world and been on dozens of tours. This was by far the WORST tour I have ever been on. To start, we were picked up by a van instead of the tour bus. After confirming our 7am pickup, the driver was almost 20 minutes late. We then drove around Playa del Carmen in the van for an hour picking up other tourists. This was NOT mentioned in the itinerary. The van eventually made it to a the meeting point where the tour bus was going to pick us up. We waited for an hour and a half for the tour bus to get there. While waiting, our driver left us stranded in the van for about 15-20 minutes. I don’t know why. After finally getting on the tour bus 2 and a half hours later, my fiancé and I were very disappointed. The tour bus is in horrible condition: the seats are yellowed, the floors are dirty, and the bathroom in the back made the whole bus smell like urine. Our clothes smelled like raw sewage after. This made us nauseous the whole ride, disgusting! The “breakfast” was subpar. My fiancé received a rotten apple and the pastries were stale. The 2 hour+ ride was extremely uncomfortable. The bus was so smelly from the bathroom that it was like sitting in a cramped port-a-potty all. The tour guide explained that it was a problem with the ventilation system. The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. They were the only good thing about the trip. They taught us a lot at Chichen Itza. Because of the delay in the morning, we hardly had any time at the cenote, only about an hour. Save your money and just take a taxi to Chichen Itza. We seriously wish we had our time and money back. Not worth it.

This is an all day tour, pick up at 0725 return about 1900. Passengers are picked up at a number of hotels, then taken to the bus. The bus ride was comfortable, with air conditioning. Breakfast consisted of sweet buns, fruit, coffee and juice. The guides try to pressure passengers into buying a silver pendent, or parchment with you birthday or other significant day in Mayan letters. Not appreciated by this passenger. Bathroom break is at a market where you walk through shops. Chichen Itza itself is almost indescribable,. The guide has about an hour presentation, with an hour free time. a small bottle of water is provided. The ruins are spectacular. From the ball court to the pyramid to the observatory, AMAZING. Makes me wonder what is still overgrown by the jungle, and buried under the grass. When you get back to the bus ice cold beer, pop or water is offered. Lunch is a buffet with international and Mayan food offered. Being a bathing suit for a swim in a cenote. The going tip for the guide and driver is 5 a person, 2 guides, 1 tour director, driver is 20 per driver I have taken tours in many countries, all guides expect tips. Shop around for tour prices as many companies offer this tour. it is generally more expensive to book at your hotel. Book online, bring the receipt.
