Amazing ruins

Our guide was Ever. He was knowledgeable and interesting. The ruins of the Moche empire were amazing. We were totally impressed by the Temple to the Moon. Other impressive ruins were at Chan Chan. These were just amazing. It was a great trip and Ever made it better.

Well worth seeing these archaeological sites.

The start was delayed not only because of problems with Peruvian immigration aurhorities at the port, but because of poor communications on the ship and even by the tour provider, who in our case, gave conflicting information about the pick-up. In one message we were told NOT to take the shuttle from the ship, and in another we were told to meet at the Plaza de Armas. It was confusing for many people, and delayed the start of the tour by well over an hour. Nonetheless, our guide William was excellent, and we DID manage to see all the main sites on the itinerary, so I still give the tour a four star rating. The archaeological sites are amazing, and something I have wanted to see for years. Huaca de la Luna and Chan Chan are beautiful and fascinating peeks into the mysterious and little-charted history of pre-Columbian South America. I do wish we had been able to explore Trujillo a bit more extensively, but the guide had to make difficult decisions, and his choices were very sensible, since we were returned to the Plaza de Armas in time to get back to the ship on time. There was no chance for lunch, so we were glad to have brought sandwiches with us.

Great tour guide it was confusing to start the guy meeting us at the port didn’t make himself know we had to ask him and the bus was over 30 min late. The tour itself was packed with great stops and information.

Huaca de La Luna (Moon temple) was an unexpected highlight. We also enjoyed the old town centre in Trujillo and the opportunity for lunch on our own in Huanchaco.
