The tour was unfortunately anything but what we expected.
Our guide (Claus) was unlikable.
He was constantly joking at our expense & playing with the fears of the tour group. You noticed that he often didn’t feel like working himself (during the trips he often dealt with the mobile phone instead of us)
He treated all the animals badly (pushing away dogs/cats, shining his laser pointer into the eyes of the animals in the reception station, etc.)
The visit of the breeding site was a complete failure.
In reality, it is a zoo where all animals are locked in enclosures that are far too small and are not even kept clean.
There's garbage all over the enclosures.
We had to beg for the dolphin tour, which was included in our trip & also already paid for.
Only on the way back to Iquitos on the last day we were assigned another guide & with him we saw dolphins.
The demands before were dismissed & not taken seriously.
Attention Scam:
In the description of the tour it is noted that you can see pink & gray dolphins. However, our guide explained to us that you can't see the pink dolphins in this area at all!
The sunrise tour was pointless, as no sunrise can be seen at the time of year anyway.
If we had the information earlier, we could have saved ourselves getting up at 4:30.
Piranhas fishing was also meaningless, as no piranhas can be fished in the rainy season.
The visit of the indigenous people is nothing but a touri rip-off, where donations are collected at the end.
Afterwards, you are more or less forced to buy something completely overpriced at the souvenir stand.
The food was fine. There has been rice with side dish every day (beans every day & always a different meat).
The vegetarian option (given extra notice in advance) was very protein heavy (egg omlette in the evening & the next day in the morning, plates full of soy shredded without side dishes)
After checking out we looked into our cabin again & saw that the pillows were full of mold..
Our highlights were the high ropes course, swimming in the river & the hike through the Amazon.
The guides of the high ropes course were very accommodating. In general, the experience in the high ropes course (despite fear of heights) was great.
Even bathing in the Amazon with the homemade mud pack was fun.
We imagined the hike through the rainforest differently. Due to last night's rains we walked through thigh-high water, which was a cool adventure.
The accommodation itself was clean & the staff tried.
The pool was green on the day of arrival, but was cleaned the next morning & was therefore usable, which was important for us in the many free time.
