Made the leap at Jamaica’s Original Blue Hole

Visiting the Original Blue Hole in Jamaica was an absolute highlight of our trip. We visited in September and on a weekday (Monday) and were the first ones there at 9am, so we had a guide to ourselves. The scenery alone is breathtaking, but what made the experience truly unforgettable was our guide, Shaq. I am very fearful of water, but Shaq went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable, safe, and most importantly—had fun. Shaq was patient, knowledgeable, and had the best energy. He walked us through each jump and swim spot with a little history, encouragement and a great sense of humor, making the adventure both exciting and reassuring. His passion for the Blue Hole and love for sharing it with visitors really showed. The whole tour took us about 1.5 hours, since it was slow season. But, if you’re planning a visit during the busy seasons, then the tour can take up to about 3 hours. If you’re heading to Jamaica, the Blue Hole is a must-do, and if you’re lucky enough to get Shaq as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic time.
