Fascinating and very well organised tour.

Lynne_S, Mar 2026
This was a well organised and fascinating tour which we couldn’t recommend highly enough. Everything from the amazing ruins of the amphitheater at El Jen to the changing landscapes of the Sahara from the rocky desert of Matmatra to the sandy and salt plain deserts were incredible. It is without doubt one of the most enjoyable holiday tours we have ever been on.

Awesome 2-day trip to the Sahara and more

Zoltan_Z, Feb 2026
We had a brilliant trip with Mo & Salah in February 2026. Highly recommended trip if you want to exlpore the country. El Jem was great start and the 4x4 drive and camel ride into the desert were the highlight. Two long days but well worth it.

Good trip bad country

Alexandra_G, Feb 2026
Guide was great this trip made our holiday although Tunisia did not do it for us it's just in ruins and very dirty would not recommend this country we went home early it was that bad

A Very Full but Well Paced Two Days

Bruce_R, Jan 2026
A lot of travelling , of course, but there were conveniently spaced stops for toilets, coffee, etc. en route. There was adequate time built in to enjoy each location. If not availing oneself of the camel riding opportunity, there was not much else to do at the location - although some did say they enjoyed the opportunity for a walk. The Kairouan Mosque photo opportunity turned out to be from the roof of carpet warehouse but gave a good view. The demonstration of wares involved no hard-sell, and the asking prices struck us as being remarkably inexpensive - such that we began to wish we had the need for such an item. Downstairs, there was a range of craft items and other souvenirs for sale - again at unusually attractive prices. The coach was comfortable and the driver very good. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative, and fluent in at least 3 European languages: English, German and French. (His commentary was given in English and in German, but with a personal translation for a couple of French speakers in the party.) His onboard commentary wasn't always easy to follow because of some distortion by the PA system possible aggravated by speaking too close to the microphone. We found the trip a very enjoyable experience.

Rushed

Giuseppina_B, Dec 2025
The tour is extremely long and exhausting. Lots of hours on the bus, inevitable though to go from A to B, however all the stops were rushed whether they were for lunch or at the sites. Accomodation in Dous was horrible, very old hotel, old blanket which looked even filthy. The guide (Mr. Dali, if not mistaken) although he wasn't rude, gave us very little info, nothing that we couldn't have found out by ourselves on wikipedia or the net. During the looooong driving hours he was silent, sleeping, and he didn't share any info about the country ( that's the reason why I picked an organised tour otherwise I would have rented a car and drive to places by myself). All the lunch breaks were very fast, kind of rushed and then back on the bus to drive for hours again. No possibility to charge your phone on the bus, so bring a power bank. The driver, Mr. Maher was excellent, he drove carefully and patiently throughout the 2 days. Camel ride was a massive rip off, no sunset no sunrise due to the bad weather.

1000 out of 10

MariaVictoria_A, Dec 2025
I had the best experience on this tour. My guide, Feras, was absolutely wonderful, and Eddy, the bus driver, was also fantastic. I booked this tour because I was traveling through Tunisia alone and prefer not to rent cars when I travel. I wanted to see as much of the country as possible in a short amount of time, and we managed to do exactly that—over 1,100 km, yet nothing ever felt rushed. It was such a memorable experience, and the team made me feel genuinely welcome, even as a solo traveler. I never felt lonely, and the group was great as well. I highly recommend this experience to anyone, especially solo travelers.

Tunisian Sahara 2-Day Tour: Phillips family 28 to 29 July 2025

Katarzyna_P, Aug 2025
Our tour guide was excellent, well organised, and perfectly bilingual in English and French. Special mention should be made of the very impressive and patient bus driver who made us feel safe. Along with a lovely camel ride, we visited the historic Roman El Jem Colosseum; the rock-cut homes in the village of Matmata, seen in Star Wars; the salt lake of Chott el Djerid; the 1998 Star Wars city film set at Onk Jemal; and the mosques in the city of Kairouan. Taken together, it was a wonderful family experience, which we would highly recommend to anyone!!

Amazing experience

laurabling, Aug 2025
Had a fantastic time on this trip into the desert. So many great stops and photo opportunities. Meals was great. Yes there was quite abit of time spent of the bus but it was nice to be out of the heat for abit and the Tour guide made it go quicker with his stories and knowledge of each area, the country in general and each location. Both the tour guide and driver were very friendly and did a fantastic job. Special memories created with my son camel riding in the Sahara watching the sun set. He’s also a massive Star Wars fan so this made it even more special. Would definitely recommend.

Pleasant experience, at times the drive was long, especially the second day. Made stops along the way but was a very long day. Very early morning. Great guide and driver.

Waste of time and money

Elena_E, Feb 2025
If you are looking to visit all of the tourist traps in Tunisia, book this trip. Basically the excursion consists of being driven around and taken to tourist trap destinations, shops, and restaurants across southern Tunisia while giving you as little context as possible. From the very pickup the guide starts advertising ways for you to spend money. The prices are usually 10x what it SHOULD cost for tourists, and quality is always questionable. For example: we were given some time at El Jem, but then the guide took us to the coffee shop right outside and advertised camel rides. Camel rides were ok (as expected, very tourist-centric), but you might as well find a camel somewhere on the beach and ride it - no need to go to Sahara. You also don’t need to have a turban…another expense that wasn’t mentioned in description. Kairouan is known for mosques, but we didn’t go into one—instead we were taken to a rug shop and a pastry shop to buy what seemed like machine made rugs and stale pastry. Some people decided to check out the mosque, and were promptly kicked out because visitors are not allowed after noon. We also only had about 5 minutes to marvel at sunrise at the salt lake…which was my personal favorite place. Sahara 4x4 ride was fun, but the guide was always rushing us back to the bus. Guide’s whole demeanor was that we should never leave the premises where he took us—maybe to avoid us finding out that water or coffee should never cost 14 dinars or god forbid interact with real locals or taste anything flavorful. Restaurants along the way all had food devoid of flavor—definitely not authentic Tunisian—the worst of Tunisia. Hotel overnight had mold and more tasteless food. Overall, this booking was a waste of your time and money. Also, pretty much double the cost of this trip because you will have to pay that much for unexpected things along the way that cost 10x as much as they should everywhere else.

A long 2 days but worth every penny!!

Rock_M, Feb 2025
A lot of time spent on the coach, but plenty of comfort stops (toilets , especially ladies, are ok but not the best) & 2 early morning starts, but totally necessary to cover the 700+ mile trip. Camel trip is an additional cost (about £10) but well worth doing to spend an hour in the Sahara on a camel!! Guides walk along side a caravan of 3or4 camels keeping everyone safe. Although pushed to purchase head scarves they are not necessary! Overnight hotel was lovely & in Tunisian style. Included 4x4 land rover trip to Star Wars theme set brilliant whether you like the film or not. All food was of a decent quality although drinks not included (approx £1-£1.50 for "coke," or beer). Only slight disappointment was the supposed trip to the mosque in the "holy city"as the impression from the tour information was that a visit to it was included. Actually it's always closed to tourists in the afternoon ( when the tour gets there!!) & you get taken to the roof of a gift shop/carpet factory to view the minorette & then taken to downstairs where they'd like you to buy a carpet!! On a positive side, the gift shop has the cheapest souvenirs I had seen anywhere!! All in all, as that was the only negative point the trip is one of the best I've been on.

Aida, Saleh & the other staff involved were all fantastic people. They took us to the most scenic, beautiful & famous spots. Aida is extremely knowledgeable, very smart & an impressive linguist who speaks multiple languages. Saleh is a skilled driver & fun comedian :)! We always felt safe on the roads. The Team knew exactly where to go & what to do, we were kept very well informed about times, locations, distance, prices, etc, which was really helpful. Get some rest the night before you leave because these 2 days are packed full with activities & travelling from early morning to early evening. It's an adventure not to be missed. Happy New Year Team & Thank you so much. Xxx

Pauline_M, Sep 2024
Fantastic tour! It was very well organised, and both Mohamed (our guide) and Monsef (our driver) were lovely. We got to see much more than the description says, including sunset and sunrise in the desert and wonderful views. Always good to have some extra cash for tips, toilets, drinks and snacks. Thank you TUI!

Enjoyable 2 days seeing a variety of sites around Tunisia. A great way to see and experience lots of different activities. Highlight of our trip El Jem and the dune rides. Knowledgeable guide and plenty of stops for drinks, snacks and photos. Only call outs (not negative) take plenty of cash as no card payments and prepare for an early (4am!!!) start in day 2. Great value for money and definitely worth it

Amazing Experience

Anil_L, Jul 2024
This was fantastic!! If you’re short on time, and the Sahara desert is on your bucket list to do in life, I highly recommend this! This trip was so organized, well put together, informative, our guide Aieda (may have spelled it wrong) was terrific. She was well versed in 3 languages, and was precise with her leadership and directions. I couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience, I loved the Sahara desert and it lived up to my expectations! Plus you got to see the rest of the country rather quickly!!

Worthy the time and money, highly appreciated.

Miriam_M, Jun 2024
The tour is beautiful and full of amazing places, includes a large number of sites to visit and is well worth the time and money spent. Efficiently spread over two days that would be difficult to do alone. The guide was detailed and precise in his explanations. Totally unexpected was that we stayed in 4 star hotels, very cool and comfortable. The only negative point is that there are a lot of stops along the way just to make you consume and buy stuff.

The tour company never came to pick me up

Susan_M, May 2024
The tour company never came to pick me up and did not reply to any messages or phone calls. I was able to contact viator, and they were also unable to contact the tour company. They told me to keep waiting. I waited at the pickup point (a hotel I was not staying at) from 6:30 am to 7:45 am before giving up on my 2-day trip. Viator started the refund process and the tour company (Tunisie Voyages) did respond to them about that later in the day. I got my refund quickly but no explanation or apology from the tour company. (Luckily, I was able to get a similar tour the following day with a different company and the tour was great.)

Extensive tour of Tunisia

Gabriel_G, Apr 2024
My favorite part of the excursion was El Jem Coliseum and Chott El Djerid. The overnight hotel was perfect good in that it had a swimming pool which was great after a warm day in the Sahara.

Great Value Tour!

Enmanuel_A, Apr 2024
Great long overnight tour, covering the same sights as the other tours, but at the best price. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy during our tour, but that was an unexpected change in the forecast. Nevertheless, we had a great time exploring El Jem (our favorite!), the Berber village, and a camel ride on day 1. As others have mentioned, the Star Wars cafe is a sad tourist trap, but the lunch was well portioned and decent. I found all meals during the tour were bland, and I believe they were catering to tourist by using minimal seasoning. For reference, I generally seek well seasoned foods, like Indochinese and Portuguese. Keep in mind, all drinks, including water, are an additional 3-5 TND each meal. We were also very impressed with the hotel we stayed at in Douz, it had a nice palacial feel. Just note there was no WIFI, but the Ooredoo SIM cards we purchased on arrival provided great service everywhere. Also be aware the wake up time is 4:00 AM on the second day! I think it's worth it/necessary considering how much ground the tour covers. Be aware most hours will be spent sitting on the bus between places, but that is the only way to cover all these places. They also make a rest stop between the longer drives. The second day consisted of the 4x4 tour, lunch at nice hotel, and Kairouan. The 4x4 was awesome, but it was a little disappointing that we did not enter the Great Mosque.

Sharon_G, Apr 2024
What can I say? Mohammed was amazing. He was a Cyclopedia of information. I learnt so much from him. He was very kind and professional in his manner even though the trip I loved so much. It was hard going at times as you Travel long long long distances. I would highly recommend this trip as you see so much in such a short space of time also learnt so much about the country thanks to Mohammed The driver sorry can’t remember his name at the moment was also very professional and I felt very safe at all times this trip was very well organised and on time. Mohammed is such a credit to this company and if you get him, you’re lucky because He knows a wealth of information about everything in Tunisia. Thank you, Mohammed from Sharon and the girls

Lots of travel but worth it

Victoria_H, Apr 2024
Don’t take this trip unless you’re ready to sit on the coach for a long time - 1200kms worth of time! But if you’re prepared for this then it’s a great trip. Mohammed the guide is excellent, the food at all stops was good and the hotel was lovely (just time to use the pool when we arrived before dinner). Highlights for us were the camels and jeep ride.

Wonderful trip!

Elizabeth_V, Mar 2024
Our tour didn't start too well as they were 30 minutes late picking us up ...or I would have given them 5 stars !! We had a really brilliant couple of days and Muhammad was an excellent guide ( and extremely patient when the same people were late every time we stopped !!) He was very informative and we learnt a lot during the trip. I would highly recommend doing this. The only extras were the tourist tax at the overnight hotel , which I think was 3 dinar each and the camel rides which were 40 dinar , which works out to be about £10.15 . This was great fun and a must do. The camels are very gentle . You will get men appear beside you on Arabian horses offering you horse rides. Don't take their photos as they get quite aggressive if they spot you taking their photos !! The overnight stay in the hotel was good , basic but clean and the evening meal was a buffet with plenty of choices for everyone. All in all a fantastic ( but tiring trip as you cover 800 miles in 2 days ) I highly recommend this to everyone. You get to see so much of the country . Thank you Muhammad for a wonderful couple of days. 😊

An absolutely incredible experience

Monica_A, Feb 2024
A fantastic way to see the country. Yes, there is a lot of time on the coach but we travelled the whole of the country and back in 2 days. The camel trek across the Sahara at sunset was amazing - definitely recommend it! The guide, Mohammed was knowledgeable and was very informative. Over all, so glad that I did this excursion and cannot recommend it enough.

Great way to discover Tunisia

Iacob_A, Feb 2024
We totally recommend this trip. Yes, you spend a lot of time in the car, but you get to see the real side of Tunisia. The guide was nice, she explained to us some key-information, the accomodation was also very nice and the food very good. We don’t recommend the optional camel- or carriage- ride, but it is up to you, since they make you wait that hour either way (transport to the hotel, located just 1km away from the rides, was not provided until everyone finished their optional rides + 1h waiting for the sunset..). A few unannounced extra costs, but nothing to be scared about (3 TND tourist tax at the hotel, tips all around highly encouraged by the guide. We found it ok, just be informed so that you have coins). We really appreciated the numerous bathroom-, stretching- or money exchange- breaks, necessary on such a long trip. The jeep-trip to Mos Espa (Star Wars film set) was a very fun experience, the sunrise caught on the road in the middle of a salt lake was also memorable (wake up at 5am, be wary).
