Great getaway for a day. The old town of Bern is a lovely place to stroll around with plenty of places to eat and shop. Buildings there are picturesque.

Best time.

Our family had the absolute best time on this excursion. Andi was a very knowledgeable and courteous guide. It was a small group so Andi also drove. We had fun stops and he is also a very careful driver which is much appreciated when the road is narrow and twists a lot. There are no guard rails on some of the roads so a safe driver is so important so we can relax. Thank you Andi we hope to see you again, the family from Canada.

Excellent day trip

Frantz is a very good guide. Very professional with clear and concise commentary. Thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Want a Bern tour? Don't take this one.....

Spent too long at the cookie factory. When we got to Bern, the guide almost took off running. The group wanted to stop and take a few pictures, and became scattered. I asked him to please slow down, as my wife had a knee injury. He did not, walked/ran up to a spot, dropped us and said be back at the bus by a certain time. He said he was going to show us the Einstein apartment and did not- we found it on our own. The Emmental Cheese deal was cool, however we wish we had taken the train to Bern and toured on our own. The free cheese and cookies were great. Bern was the main point and we had no idea it was a self-guided tour. Very disappointed with the main part of it.

Dear George, Thank you for joining our small group tour to Bern and sharing your experience with us. Your feedback is genuinely appreciated as it helps us to identify areas of improvement. Providing an enjoyable and informative experience is of utmost importance to us, and we regret that your expectations were not met on this occasion. Our tour guides are trained to strike the right balance between pacing and ensuring that all participants can comfortably keep up with the group. We understand that walking too fast can be frustrating and may hinder your ability to fully appreciate the sights and attractions of the city. Rest assured, we will address this matter with your guide to avoid this incident in the future. Furthermore, we put a strong emphasis on the education and training of our guides so that they can offer our guests a memorable experience. According to the itinerary, our guests receive a 45 minutes guided walking tour in the old town of Bern. The remaining time is available for the guests to continue exploring on their own and enjoy lunch. We would like to apologize on behalf of your tour guide if he didn’t provide much information during the visit in the old town and will certainly forward him your feedback to ensure he provides a more informative tour experience in the future. We are however happy that you enjoyed the rest of the tour and hope you still had a great day and stay in Switzerland. Best regards, Ambika from Best of Switzerland Tours

Peter was an informative and entertaining guide. The stop en route to Bern, and en route back to Lucern made it a well paced outing. Seeing the countryside was lovely.

Boring

Guide was not friendly or knowledgeable. Cheese stop was not interesting. No cow's. Just recorded cartoon type info.He walked us around Bern with very little commentary and forgot to show us bathrooms after being asked. Jerked the van a lot.

A shorter time at the cheese factory and the biscuit factory would be helpful to extend the time in Bern. Overall it was well organized and the guide, Martin, was wonderful as well as knowledgable and interesting.

This was a fantastic compliment to our mountain tours. The area was beautiful with some touring and some free time. Loved it.

It was my first time in Switzerland and this tour was a good experience to see more of Switzerland. The directions to the meeting point was clear and straightforward and my group and I were picked up on time. I can't remember the name of our tour guide, but he was an excellent driver and the ride was comfortable. Our first stop was the Kambley factory, which was a delicious surprise . While there, my group and I were able to sample their cookies/crackers and make our purchases- our stomachs were more happy getting back in the bus to continue our trip we're foodies. Bern was fun. We got to see the house where Einstein lived during his stay in Switzerland along with the clocktower down the street that inspired his theory of relativity, which was awesome! We didn't get to go inside the house though I think it's a museum now because we were just walking by so that was a downside. We did however, see the clock tower in action. After our guided tour in the city, we had some free time. My group and I took that time to grab some lunch and try local foods like fondue, racklette, and rosti. Definitely try these local cuisine if you're in the country! The second part of the trip was ok for me. We went to a cheese factory and saw how cheese was made. There was also an old cheese house with tools from the past and we briefly learned how they made cheese back in the day, but there wasn't an actual demonstration. The dairy visit was fine, but I felt like my group and I could've used more time in Bern and less time at the dairy visit. Overall, the experience was good- the drive was scenic, which I like I love nature, and Bern was my enjoyable. We also could've used more guidance on where to go, what to see, where to eat in Bern from our tour guide, but my group and I managed. I had a good time in the end, so I would say give this tour a try, but just be mindful there's some changes that need to be made to make it great.

This was a great tour. First they were on time in picking us up at the meeting point outside the train station in Lucerne and the ride was comfortable. Our first stop was the Kambley factory which my group thoroughly enjoyed. We are big foodies and having free samples everywhere before buying the goodies was aweomse. I have to say, we may have had one too many samples but we didn't leave empty handed. During our ride to the Kambley factory and Bern, our guide I cannot remember his name was very informative and talked about the local culture. He also took the scenic route when we were going to the cheese factory which allowed for some very nice pictures. We were able to explore Bern on our own after his guided tour, but I wish we had more time to do so. He pointed out some fascinating facts like where Albert Einstein live during his stay in Bern and how the clock tower inspired him to develop the theory of relativity. During our free time we were able to try the local cuisine- racklette, rosti, and some fondue! The cheese factory was okay, and seeing a very old cheese house was unique but I felt like we spent too much time there. Aside from that, it was a great tour and I would recommend it to anyone.
