Overview
Take a tour of the Kyoto bamboo forest by rickshaw, and on foot, to explore every part of it. First you’ll be pulled by your guide through the green bamboo on a path reserved for rickshaws. Then pass by Nonomiya Shrine and stop for photos at a little park. The last leg is on foot, where you’ll walk to an impressive part of the forest. Early morning is best to avoid the crowds.

- Children of 6 years and older are required to have a seat and will thus pay the same price as an adult.
- Our seats measure 74cm (29. 1in) in width and can accommodate up to two adults side by side.
- Children 5 years and under can ride for free provided that they will sit on the lap of an adult (one child per adult = max 2 adults & 2 children per rickshaw)
- If a child 5 years will be using one of the two seats of the rickshaw, it must book as an adult.
- Infants must be able to hold up their head by themselves.
- The amount of time you will be late will be deducted from your tour duration (delay of 10min or more results in automatic cancellation)

- Time changes on the day of the tour can not be accommodated.
- Any time changes/rescheduling requests sent after 5pm the day before your tour can not be accommodated
- finishing locations other than our rickshaw stand may be subject to an additional drop-off fee (payable on the day of the tour)

My friend and I were visiting from Hawaii and had Shun as our guide. The tour itself was amazing - we were taken on private paths within the forest, along with less crowded areas in the neighborhood. Shun was incredible- so kind, fun and patiently took great photos of us. He was a bonus to an already great time. Highly recommend :)

A wonderful ride around one of the most beautiful parts of Kyoto. Our drivers, Yoshi and Lucas, gave us history about what we were seeing as well as suggestions to eat. We ended up trying dipping noodles on Lucas’ suggestion. Yummy! Yoshi took the best photos! Highly recommend a tour w them. The O’Neals from Texas! 🙂

This is not just a ride, like the carriage rides in central park. This is a private tour of gorgeous bamboo lines paths and the addition of a Temple tour if you choose to add it, accompanied by amazing commentary and even some panorama photography coaching. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Our rickshaw driver "Ocean" was phenomenal. We did a 2 hour tour and it did not disappoint. Our driver was great about telling us the area, the bamboo forest and temples we visited along with taking some amazing photos for us!! Would highly recommend and ask for Ocean as your next driver!

WOW... I have such a respect for these wonderful people pulling these... Ocean was one of the most polite and lovely person I have met during my trip... we got to select what we wanted to see and ended up extending the experience to see more of this beautiful area we would not have seen if we were walking it. He took amazing photos for us and even assisted us when having a travel issues...
It was just a highlight of our holiday and totally reccomend to do... so worth it

Amazing experience!! Such a good activity for a day when it’s really hot because the rickshaw has shad, and they give you a cold towel. Definitely made the bamboo forest experience a highlight. We loved this and would recommend.

Every stop Hikaru Inone recommended was excellent! Also, Hikaru took very good care of us, he was extremely friendly and welcoming, polite to passerby’s, and taught us a lot of history. He made the tour fun and want to come back again! The rickshaw ride itself was very fun to try. Also, Hikaru was able to communicate with us very well in English, I am happy he was able to take time to speak with us. This was a great tour and the guides were the utmost professionals. So friendly, knowledgeable and strong. We felt kind of bad watching them pull our rickshaw especially since the day was incredibly hot. However, they were utmost pros and did their best to make sure that they provided a great tour. I knocked off a star overall because I think that it would be good to know that you have to sit in the rickshaw most of the tour except once to take pictures inside the bamboo grove. I also thought that there was a separate path for rickshaws the entire tour through the forest but it was just a short while in the beginning and we weren’t able to get out and take pics when no one was around. My whole purpose of booking the tour was to avoid crowds for pictures so I felt a bit disappointed in that we were either sharing paths with other tourists in the forest (who took pictures of us like we were the tourist attraction) or traveled around town to get to the other side of the bamboo forest where we did eventually get off the rickshaw to take pictures. Maybe it’s on me for having different expectations or reading the tour details wrong so sharing this for other’s to be helpful. Otherwise, I would highly recommend the tour for anyone who doesn’t want to walk or are unable to and would like a guide. The guys were great.

We had such a wonderful experience with Ebisuya Rickshaw. The rickshaw guides are so friendly and incredibly strong to do what they do every day, all day. We were taken to a secluded temple with a beautiful garden and one of our guides took amazing photos and edited them right on the spot. They were gorgeous. We loved the bamboo forest and avoiding the crowds and not having to walk. It was such a fun experience for our family. Highly recommend! Book early because they do sell out fast.

It was heavy snow the morning of our tour i would have for sure understood if they cancelled the tour but they didnt they pushed through happily! The snow made the bamboo forest that much more beautiful. And the staff were amazing kind and strong!

Very nice tour and a nice way to experience the Bamboo Forest. But it also brings you to an old village full of character and charm.
